      Because they don't have the space to keep a set that big standing for one scene in season 2. They had to build a complete Harrenhal set and increase the size of Dragonstone. I thought that would be obvious! Way to reveal you have no idea how production works on these shows...jeez!

    They need to film in South Africa. Not just because I'm here (lol), but because we have some of the most beautiful and majestic naturescapes in the world. Can't believe they haven't already.

      @@marksaunders3723 Fair enough, but although the ASOIAF universe was based on medieval Europe, it still isn't actually medieval Europe. It's a fictional universe, and King's Landing certainly isn't like London in any way. South Africa could certainly work for some locations. I wish they'd used it for Dorn in Game of Thrones, for example.

      @@queenlilaerys13 South Africa doesn't have castles still standing that can still be used and the European climate. And Spain is a lot closer and a lot cheaper than SA as a stand-in for Dorne. GRRM based Westeros on medieval Britain and Europe, so why would they film in SA, that clearly doesn't resemble it in any way?

    • @queenlilaerys13
      @queenlilaerys13 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marksaunders3723 There is at least one castle still standing, and as far as I'm aware they don't always film at actual castles. Again, whether it was based on medieval Britain or not, it's still a fictional world with fictional countries, and they don't do most filming in Britain anyway. But yeah, Spain would potentially be cheaper. I could still see it working though, but we can agree to disagree.

    • @marksaunders3723
      @marksaunders3723 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@queenlilaerys13 Actually, nearly all the filming is in the UK. The studio interiors are at Leavesden in Watford, most exterior stuff has filmed in Wales, Cornwall, Hertfordshire and the Lake District and they do actually use certain castles for battlement scenes. Caceres in Spain is King's Landing. SA just doesn't have the right look and now would look completely out of place as a Westeros stand-in and far too expensive. Sorry.

      Aegon the Conquerer had a set during the Conquest, so they had that one set at the beginning of their Reign over Westeros in book canon at least, dunno if Aegon II was meant to have that same set or not

    • @the_rzh
      @the_rzh หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Imsohighrightnow2 Nope, in book cannon Aegon had a Valyrian steel circlet (little tiara-like crown). Euron Greyjoy has the only known set of Valyrian steel armor.
      It's a big deal because, just like the swords, the upgrade is a destabilizing advantage to the bearer. If the Targaryens had such armor, It would have been written about just like Dark Sister and Blackfyre. Rhaegar would have worn it at the Trident. It might have given him the winning edge over Robert Baratheon.
