Many years ago I also worked in the PCB industry. As a contractor testing PCB's manufactured all over the UK. I'd like to think that I know a quality PCB when I see one, these boards clearly are 👍
the prius gen 2 inverter has full functionality right? motor and generator (with the buck/boost converter right?) i want to buy it from your website but i want to make sure that its what i want. im going to make a youtube channel with a series where i fumble around until i make my prius into a motorcycle. then ill do something crazy to it, but i need help, and youre amazing. very very smart. im definatly giving you a shoutout even if you dont reply. but still please reply.
@@MattsAwesomeStuff Damien designs them, then orders them from JLPCB who manufacture them with surface mount components. All the boards are available from EVBMW's website, webshop link in the description. Damien has covered this in a previous video.
Can't wait to see how prius drivetrain works "in the field" controlled by this board. Maybe I missed it, but why did you gave up on creating same complete board for gen 2? They are so much cheaper and wide spreaded in where I live=)
I don't know that "give up" is the correct term, but, there were 2 other people putting effort into the Gen 3. If it takes double the effort to develop two different generations of Prius, it does make sense to me, given limited time and effort to give people a single "Prius" option rather than half-develop two different options. A year ago I was saying "It looks like Gen 3 is where he's focusing", and then this past fall I said "It looks like Gen 2 is the one with more development, I'll buy one of those and those boards", and now "Oops, Gen 3 seems to be getting the lion's share of development." Beggers and choosers and all that, can't complain.
@@MattsAwesomeStuff Maybe term is really not correct, English is not my spoken language=) And I'm aware that few people, including you, are working with gen 2 board, but it seems to me there is a lot of black wizardry involved in the process, including "blue pill". And I'm not an electronics engineer sadly=(
@@danielrouw2593 - I'm not sure. You could ask on the OpenInverter forums. I don't know if there is an actual transmission in there. There's a set of planetaries and two motors (one is the starter and generator, the other is the drive motor). I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but I probably don't have the answer yet anyway.
@@danielrouw2593 If you asking about ability of speed change as it performed in stock prius, this particular board is not designed for it. It is designed to operate prius transaxle as standalone EV motor. It is however equipped with processor for mg1 and it is opensource so technically you are able to program it to operate like stock prius drivetrain I believe.

A DC motor controller would be nice.
Damian has a DC motor controller designed and built. You can find them in his video play list "1,000 euro EV build"
