Thank you for the wonderful demo. I usually always buy the latest Korg flagship arranger when it is released, however this time I will be sticking with my Pa4X until Korg releases something with a major difference. At the moment I would rather spend the money on a dedicated laptop. You are correct that the sounds on Pa5X sound fuller. But from what I can hear the major difference is in the EQ, Compression, Velocity and Aftertouch, which all can be tweaked on the Pa4X. I also noticed that on some of the sounds on the Pa5X that you demonstrated its easy to hear where the sample has been looped, and I don't like that. I also do not like that the Pa5X has builtin Pads. I think its a better option to connect an external Pads controller with higher quality Pads. I think that the Pa5X is a great investment for someone owning a Pa1X-Pa3X, but for Pa4X owners not much is offered. Its great to have features such as seamless transition between sounds and styles, but its not like a must have. Round robin is awesome, but there are ways to achieve that without the builtin feature. Nor is the 8GB of sampling a huge deal compared to 4GB. I would rather start to see arrangers offer support for VSTs.
@@henthust9784 In your case. I would definitely recommend the Pa5X. I only don't recommend the Pa5X to Pa4X users as they won't be getting anything worth loosing a couple of thousand dollars by upgrading.

You did Korg a great service because now I want to upgrade as soon as I can,
Pa5x sound warmer ,fuller and more real string instrument voicing , but seem has little more reverb add on it compare to Pa4X, pretty like Genos/SX900 default factory reverb.

Hello I have a question regarding pa4x When using internal limited compressor on drums track. I can not have my kick coming out separately from output 1 or 2 but when i turn of the compressor it works. Is there a trick to this?
I have a Pa4x from ACH. Interesting comment about it wrapped in a blanket. No doubt the sounds are in the Pa4x you just have to know how to get them out.
Be careful to match volume levels when comparing anything. Of course the 5 sounds better because it is recorded louder in this video. That's the oldest salesman trick in the books. Make the source louder for whichever you want the customer to buy when doing comparisons of anything.
I can attest the sound in this video is not an issue. Playing then side by side a few days ago through the same sound system, the Pa5x simply sounds that much better.
I have a question.... You can split the keyboard in several places. For example LOWER from C1 to C2, UPPER 3 from C3 to C4, UPPER 2 from D4 to F5 etc ?
Hi, yes it is possible to multi-split the individual sounds should you need to for Upper 1,2 and 3 as well as lower. It is also possible to create complete custom sounds from the ground up with many velocity and split layers. That takes a lot of work but still shows the products capabilities.
love the comparisons videos - can u do more style play between the two and between genos and korg pls - am not sure i like the way style sections sounds on pa5x its defo more polished than on pa4x but takes away that live band feel, on pa5x sounds more like studio recording ..?
Have you encountered errors or glitches the fill ins ,var won’t play change, also some pitch random disorder on this new pa I have a bud of which he return as piano wasn’t performing good on user rhythms coming from pa1000 or the pa4x hmm ? I had issues myself but when I had so much gap on Korg styles or sounds . Hope the issues has been fix by firmware or anyone ?I’ll just wait til it becomes more convenient to purchase. But wow the sounds are better as I can here in this new model
unfortunately you did not compare the drum sounds of the both PA´s - I would guess it is the main difference because of the Round Robin in the PA5x, the other sounds are more in the PA5x und there are nuances maybe fatter and more natural but I think you won't listen differences in a blind test...what about the differences of sounds between the Nautilus and the PA5x?
Thnx for the vid . I had a pa4x which I sold to buy Genoa . I preferred Genus a bit over the Pa4x . I also sold my Genoa and purchased the Pa5x but I don't have it yet , back order ! I agree that the sounds of both 4x and 5x are almost the same with added effects and EQ to the 5x . I prefer the Pa5x over Genoa .
Nice comparison, i own a Pa4X and still didn’t explore alla the capabilities of my keyboard. I hear more body in some of the sounds coming from Pa5X the 4X in your video but i wonder if with some little eq and volume adjustment they could match more closely. I sincerely prefer the violin on the 4X in your comparison, and i heard a sax with a noticeable sample loop in the high register in 5X in your demo. For the church organ, i remember much more church organ samples and combinations inside the 4X than the two you are playing, did you update it to NEXT version? Anyway many of the missing sounds could be loaded from software houses covering the compartment needed by anybody. Pianos are both very good, is another sound where eq and effects can create many variations if the base samples are good, as is in 4X too. It would be interesting a styles comparison and drum patterns and sounds as someone alredy wrote before. thank you for this video!

Love my pa4xpro and even have my i4S. Both instruments are relatively old but still sound superb. I will not buy the pa5x. Thank you for your brilliant video 👍
I think there is positive and negative with this sound approach. Korg aknowledge, this board is mostly used as standalone gig or for home standalone playing. So when you play single sounds or more simple multi sounds it sound fuller with more "body". But this can also cause some problems when you do advance stuff. With so much effects on single sounds, things can become muffled in details and sound hollow, despite sound bigger, if Korg didn't enable usser to turn off some effects to get more raw sounds. Last synth example in this video hints in that direction. I much prefer pa4x sound example. Even if not sound so full, It hold its tight composture with details when things become busier and Pa5x becoming loud and hollow cloud without definition in details. Clearly frequency curve in general is also different. New one have more mids. But i still think Korg made right decision to go Yamaha kind of sound with this one and make "frendlier" and more juicy sound for home user as there are probably not enough people to buy this board that make advance sound editing. Those kind of people rather buy "production" boards from Korg.
I currently have a PA800, which when I bought it, was just fantastic. Compared to the PA5X, it feels so dated, which of course it IS! I really wish I was in a position to be able to upgrade to the PA5X. I live in the U.S., so I won't be purchasing from A&C Hamilton, if I was in the U.K, I would. I think you are correct, though, that the PA5X uses greater effects, but I'm not sure that's a good thing completely. I remember the PA4X versus Genos comparison that you did, and I felt the Genos was dripping in effects, maybe to cover up a bad sample, but more likely to be 'airplay ready', or at least 'lounge ready.' I thought you needed to do more work to get the sound of the PA4X to that point, but I appreciated the more 'raw' sound. I really would like to see the PA5X against the Genos, not that I plan on buying a Genos. Anyway, thanks for the demo.

Sorry but the 4x and 5x sound almost exactly the same, Plus you could change the fx and they will sound exactly the same, I have been korg for years currently using a 4x, I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm waiting for the genos 2

What I wonder, is the tone control for both intruments set the same? Because that fuller sound of the 5 you could, according to me, upgrade to a warmer sound. Is only an assumption because the 5 sounds really fantastic! I myself have a Tyros 5 with which I am very satisfied but this is definitely a class keyboard.

I bought my beloved pa4x from you at a and c hammelton. Your service was perfect and thank you. Love my pa4x for what it does but I was hoping for a few synth engines built into the pa5x. But this was not to be. I was also hoping for 16 track audio recorder built in to the pa5x this time around. But this was not to be. This would of been fantastic for vocal and guitar recording but disappointingly it is still missing and korg has missed a sale from myself. The new look is gorgeous of the pa5x and I hope we see some system upgrades for pa4x owners from this system. Can you get those wood end cap pannels for the pa4x? Love to change them over.
hello, korg pa 5 x is a good tool, the problem is version 9, until you raise it to 127, the regulators don't work, about the buttons, the fact that it cracks is the problem that the lights shine too brightly and for this, you need to do it so that when you press the button, the light comes on, but it turns out that all the buttons just light up, and the fact that you don't play for 15 minutes turns off by itself is not a solution to the problem, bender sometimes doesn't build, it's also related to the Versions, this is all fixed, there is no better tool than this 👍🔥 thanks for understanding 🤝

Hace años tengo el 4x y después de 8 años veo que han hecho un restiling del 4x, más de lo mismo pero para mi mejor es el 4x, tiene mas cositas, aparte el precio super caro en comparación. Yo soy de Korg desde el pa80, al 800, 2x, 3x…..Yo de korg hubiera sacado algo diferente que diera más gancho, han aprovechado hasta la misma carcaza del pa4x, en fin es una pena pero Yamaha se está poniendo las pilas y ya va por delante, hasta los mismos distribuidores lo dicen. Han tenido muchos años para hacer algo mejor y la han cagado. Lo siento porque a Korg lo quiero mucho pero digo lo que hay. Saludos

Yo también he usado Korg desde hace años, empezando con el M1 y ahora con Pa 900 con samples, del Pa 80 al 900 si hubo una evolución en cuanto a características y prestaciones, no he tenido un PSR YAMAHA o algo similar para compararlo, pero de YAMAHA me gustan sus pianos y algunos sonidos suenan con más brillo, de Korg me gustan sus Brass, Guitarras, Saxos y Cuerdas.
I will never understand why we compare two arranger keyboards with their sounds. we buy an arranger keyboard for styles, right? If it's for sounds, let's buy a synth, right? I have a Genos and, when I compare, I have better drum, guitar, bass, piano, organ sounds than the Ketron. B u t : When I play a style of 80's disco or rock'n'roll (...) my genos is very low. The sounds are good but it does not give the quality of a style! And at the risk of repeating myself, an arranger is primarily intended to play styles.
After listening a few times ... especially to the Stradavari sample, to my ears the Ketron Event's Stradavari blows the Korg's away! Your Pa4X/PA4X comparison is obviously unfair ... get the SPL equal!
Judging by ebay, last week I saw 11 used yamaha Genos's and 5 Korg Pa4x's on ebay. Both of those are significant increases in their monthly averages. Yamaha's input increased by 700% and Korg's by 300%. We can't know if all these users are purchasing a Korg Pa5x, but it certainly suggests this is likely the main reason.

At first i have the same mentality as you , but the reality is that the korg pa5x sound more real than genos ,and the big difference is the drums on korg sound more powerful, yamaha sound more digital
@@pawlikp100 The PA5X uses the same tone generation technology as the PA4X which is 2 years older than the Genos. On top a lot of the instruments on the PA5X use the same samples as on the PA4X just with more effects slapped onto them. The design is recycled from the Korg Kronos. The PA5X is less modern than it looks at first glance. Also why are Korg fans always so toxic?

Genos is 4-5 years old. Its not fair to compare to 2022 pa5x. But still Pa5x is not outstriking Genos.

Is only an assumption because the 5 sounds really fantastic! I myself have a Tyros 5 with which I am very satisfied but this is definitely a class keyboard.

I bought my beloved pa4x from you at a and c hammelton. Your service was perfect and thank you. Love my pa4x for what it does but I was hoping for a few synth engines built into the pa5x.
But this was not to be. I was also hoping for 16 track audio recorder built in to the pa5x this time around. But this was not to be. This would of been fantastic for vocal and guitar recording but disappointingly it is still missing and korg has missed a sale from myself.
The new look is gorgeous of the pa5x and I hope we see some system upgrades for pa4x owners from this system. Can you get those wood end cap pannels for the pa4x? Love to change them over.
Why would Korg upgrade the pa4x when they have now released the pa5x... that wouldn't make much business sense.
hello, korg pa 5 x is a good tool, the problem is version 9, until you raise it to 127, the regulators don't work, about the buttons, the fact that it cracks is the problem that the lights shine too brightly and for this, you need to do it so that when you press the button, the light comes on, but it turns out that all the buttons just light up, and the fact that you don't play for 15 minutes turns off by itself is not a solution to the problem, bender sometimes doesn't build, it's also related to the Versions, this is all fixed, there is no better tool than this 👍🔥 thanks for understanding 🤝
Thanx for useful video ! Strange feeling about pa5x, while sounding awesome , it doesnt sound like a synth anymore, so realistic.. Based on demos I like the good old Korg Kronos most - sounds like synth but very beatiful and stunning at the same time.

Hace años tengo el 4x y después de 8 años veo que han hecho un restiling del 4x, más de lo mismo pero para mi mejor es el 4x, tiene mas cositas, aparte el precio super caro en comparación. Yo soy de Korg desde el pa80, al 800, 2x, 3x…..Yo de korg hubiera sacado algo diferente que diera más gancho, han aprovechado hasta la misma carcaza del pa4x, en fin es una pena pero Yamaha se está poniendo las pilas y ya va por delante, hasta los mismos distribuidores lo dicen. Han tenido muchos años para hacer algo mejor y la han cagado. Lo siento porque a Korg lo quiero mucho pero digo lo que hay. Saludos

@@johnnyavilestecladista6000 Hace unas semanas lo probé en un distribuidor y la verdad me gusto mucho, vuelvo a decir que es una pena porqué después de tantos años me esperaba algo mejor de Korg, con Yamaha es volver a empezar porque tengo mucho material en el 4x y son incompatibles, tendrían que hacer cambios de staff en Korg y sacar algo innovador como siempre han hecho, korg se ha estancado. Por mucho marketing que hagan, la gente que domina el tema sabe que no vale la pena. Estas críticas son constructivas para que la gente de Korg se ponga las pilas. Saludos
Yo también he usado Korg desde hace años, empezando con el M1 y ahora con Pa 900 con samples, del Pa 80 al 900 si hubo una evolución en cuanto a características y prestaciones, no he tenido un PSR YAMAHA o algo similar para compararlo, pero de YAMAHA me gustan sus pianos y algunos sonidos suenan con más brillo, de Korg me gustan sus Brass, Guitarras, Saxos y Cuerdas.

I have a Genos and, when I compare, I have better drum, guitar, bass, piano, organ sounds than the Ketron.
B u t :
When I play a style of 80's disco or rock'n'roll (...) my genos is very low.
The sounds are good but it does not give the quality of a style!
And at the risk of repeating myself, an arranger is primarily intended to play styles.
5x is more These sounds of instruments are in real volume and real size with better quality
If you will use MAXX MASTER EQ on Pa4x the sound is much more better and much more close to pa5x.
After listening a few times ... especially to the Stradavari sample, to my ears the Ketron Event's Stradavari blows the Korg's away! Your Pa4X/PA4X comparison is obviously unfair ... get the SPL equal!

Okay, who's selling their Pa4x to get the new one? Genuine question!
Judging by ebay, last week I saw 11 used yamaha Genos's and 5 Korg Pa4x's on ebay. Both of those are significant increases in their monthly averages. Yamaha's input increased by 700% and Korg's by 300%. We can't know if all these users are purchasing a Korg Pa5x, but it certainly suggests this is likely the main reason.
@@chrissanchez1438 i have a genos and a pa4x(musikant) and not even think about chancing it for the pa5x the pa5x is not deserve the chance from pa4x (no midi to style converter ??) and to expensive versus the pa4x when that one where introduced

At first i have the same mentality as you , but the reality is that the korg pa5x sound more real than genos ,and the big difference is the drums on korg sound more powerful, yamaha sound more digital
So this movie is not for you. Nobody watching this movie is interested in an old-fashioned genos
@@pawlikp100 The PA5X uses the same tone generation technology as the PA4X which is 2 years older than the Genos. On top a lot of the instruments on the PA5X use the same samples as on the PA4X just with more effects slapped onto them. The design is recycled from the Korg Kronos. The PA5X is less modern than it looks at first glance. Also why are Korg fans always so toxic?

4pax mg2 Will be my next pro keyboard that about it the end of buying New one every few years .....they need to brins to market keyboard each 10/20 years as this is becoming insane ....price are super expenssive this is not phone Toyota this is lot of money to buy so Kind à silly to buy each 4/5 years the next génération.
