We tend to be like rivers and follow the path of least resistance. I guarantee you that you'll use this screen a lot after installation just because it's there and very low friction to use.
This is similar with my Marlin printers and using Octoprint, but sometimes people like having a nicer touch screen at the printer, and I admit I have made use of OctoDash as much as I use things remotely
I bought my first printer used and the guy recommended I set it up with FluiddPi, never looked back. I have a P1S now and I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've used the physical interface for it.
There's value in having both. I use Klipperscreen for some basic things that you'd do in front of the printer, like screws tilt adjust. You can also pull out a phone, but the screen is already there and on and more convenient.
I noticed you pronounced I²C as I-two-C. It's actually pronounced I-squared-C. It stands for "Inter-Integrated Circuit" and as the name implies, its purpose is communication between integrated circuits. - That said, great video man! Appreciate it!
Love the way Big Tree Tech called it Panda touch. Panda's are associated with eating bamboo - Bambu printer.... Little things are amusing :). Basically this is a remote control for the printer. The USB Cable is only for power and the rest is done via MQTT / WiFi. This screen could be stuck anywhere and doesn't need to be stuck to the printer itself. I don't think MQTT would get broken. MQTT is a standard and open. Bambu may add encrypted MQTT, but I doubt they will do that as they know add-ons = more sales. Even with closed source devices, the 3D printing community, and companies aiming at that community, still seem to work together, as well as being competitive in a more friendly way. This may change in the future, but right now there is still a lot of sharing in the community and it's really good for us enthusiasts. I do hope it doesn't change in a hurry.
i see everyone saying they don't use their p1 screen, I own an a1 and use the screen nearly every print to check up on things. I've got a Panda touch arriving tomorrow so ill see if it can do anything the A1 can't already do.
I don't think you mentioned that it's only $59. Not so much to lose if it ever stops working. I don't have a Bambu printer, so it's not of use to me, but if the Klipper version is the same price I'd jump on it.
@@JonS lol if only. There have been a handful of times I show the price instead of say it. I have found prices change so much on things if I say it costs an amount then it changes I get some frustrated comments 🤷♂️
I have one of these on the way. I won it a while back. Should be here in a few days. I plan to use it with klipper as btt said it can be flashed and then control klipper printers. We will see if it can be done and how hard it is.
I suspect we can set up on a "Filament Drying Feature on P1S" on the Bambu forum profile or "print" to make drying a filament spool like X1C a little more smoother as well. 🤔
Not holding my breath on the API release, I guess I will wait until it gets released by Bambu before I invest in a larger screen, but this did catch my eye because of the features
It's odd that you didn't mention a big problem, for me anyway. Teh Pando cannot see anything but .3mf files on the USB drive, so it can't see .cgo* files. That's true when trying to read files from the printer's SD slot too. So you can't see the model files which shipped with the printer.
10:57 So they realized there's nothing they can do to stop it, so instead of doing everything they can to cripple it, they're actually working with it. This is amazing news
I am curious, Do you know how much you can upgrade a P1S toward X1C specs apart from the metal and plastic sides, thats not important. I guess things like the better resolution camera?, lidar? I guess you can upgrade the extruder gears to be the same, and what else might be different, I am guessing the camera and lidar maybe the toughest and maybe lidar not possible without mainboard upgrade, I will be getting a P1S and just curious how close to the X1C it can get over time with some upgrades.
I didn't see the mention of remote camera viewing, i image since this is a wifi device it should be capable of viewing the camera in the future by BTTs software?
If you weren't quick enough to order one a while back, it will take two months to get one if you order now. Not sure I want to bet that this will be the thing I want by then. I guess it's a good problem to have (for BTT). I have an Xtouch sitting in a drawer. I didn't care for it once I got it installed. I'd buy this one in a hot minute if I could get it in a week.

While Bambi did mess up with quality assurance testing on the A1 they immediately did a recall unlike most big companies like Asus just to name one. The X/P series is great and when the P1S was cheaper it was by far the best bang for your buck outside maybe a particular QIDI model printer.
