    I remember watching these tv shows as a kid back in the day. My family would all gather around and watch these specials which included awesome singers like Sinatra, Humperdinck, Tom Jones, and a whole bunch more! It says this one aired on 10/25/1969. I was turning 12 on November 20th! It was such a different time... magical era for many of us... even for us kids! Style, talent, beauty and class... right here! What memories!!

    Yesterday I had the opportunity to take my wife to see Engelbert sing live one more time to celebrate our 42nd. anniversary. This great singer, despite having physical problems, has not lost anything of his great voice. Best of all, my wife was thrilled to see her favorite singer so close to her. Time shouldn't go through this kind of stars that make us happy, and at the same time make us dream awake. Let's keep listening to Mr. Engelbert Humperdinck so that he will never be forgotten by the new generations.

      1969? Well The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were already big, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were just around the corner and Frank Zappa already kicked some serious butt. This kind of music was a holdover from decades ago for older folks. At least there was a wide choice in the ''60s and much more in the '70s. You had it all from badass to total cheese. Now it's all image and a ton of mediocrity. No matter how cheesy this song may be (it is), at least it had to be written by a skilled arranger and performed by pro musicians.

    When I was eight (1969) I started to seriously listen to records, and music was becoming part of my life. As each decade has progressed - the standard of both music and performance has regressed. It's a tragedy quite frankly. For everyone.

      These aren't necessarily high quality lyrics. The music is nice and simple, but really not that great.

      +Matthew Wright Thank you! Lots of great music is still being made today. Music keeps evolving, and will do so forever. Sure you can look back at an era and enjoy it, but you can't expect art to stand still and remain the same.

    • @mine634
      @mine634 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Damiën Falkenburg I don't expect anything to stop evolving but art is subjective, people have as much right as you to an opinion. The argument for talent versus technology (autotune, sequencers etc.) is a strong one because science still has not pinned down why we like music, it's a psychology thing therefore humans are more musical than machines which is why shortcuts are soulless. (l love science but it is not art).

    • @lewstone1934
      @lewstone1934 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Music is an Art. Science (in my humble opinion) is very much Second Division..
      That's why modern cars are (like so many facets of modern life )also so bloody ugly - they are designed by a machine for efficiency, not by a human for beauty.

Whatever your inclination, that is a long list of big names, some of which had ofucsed their entire careers to being president (can't speak for Ike, who came from the military and probably didn't think about it before WWI, unlike TR who dedicated his entire life to being the incarnation of awesome in his time and fuck the world's vagina with his grand american dong).

    One of my favorite videos. The surreality (if that's a word) of life. Here are these beautiful women, could have worked side jobs at the Playboy Club or something. Hot ladies in their prime, stylish and fashionable, the world revolving around them, And they're all at least in their mid 70's now if still alive. They are OLD people now. Elderly That is surreal. Time flies

We had clean air and water, blue skies, employment, cars, travel, relative world peace, wonderful music & singers, composers like of Rogers and Hammerstein, L. Webber, many and many other fine artists. We had it all, but left a terrible mess behind!! I hope the current and future generations will be able to solve the environmental problems. On behalf of all the boomers, I apologize to the youth of today and tomorrow.

    To think that I was 4 years of age when this was on TV. I Love the "natural need" in this song. The vocal part is perfectly in tune with "Feel". A great example of self expression. He is really feeling the words. Great writing, Great production. My Students are all good at nailing the notes with feel, but that needing feel has to be worked on. They actually love learning this song and if you need it transformed into a key that better suits your voice, I can help you with that as well. Thanks for posting this Video.
