It's amusing how some folks cling to their antiquated notions of "authenticity" in music, as if auto-tune is the only tool that musicians have ever used for creative expression. Maybe take a moment to grasp that innovation and experimentation have been driving forces in music for centuries. Your disdain for auto-tune just makes you sound stuck in the past.

I was the class leader at a Taiwan's senior high school class in 1969, and I "ordered" the whole class to sing along with me all the songs sung by these two most-admired "hero" singers! I can still recall that scene vividly even now as a retired professor at 69! ^^ Thanks for sharing.
I loved both of their voices back in the day! I was 18 back in 1969. We all thought Tom Jones was the sexiest man we had ever seen! Boy, could he dance! Both of them were so popular; I loved the duets and the humor.

Nobody, absolutely nobody, today can compare to these two voices-amazing qualities! I remember the hullabaloo when I was young around Tom Jones’ first appearance on American TV-Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show-when everyone in the US had only heard his voice but had never seen him; the expectation was that he would be a Black man because of his vocals and soulful sound…America was shocked. As I got older (Sophomore in high school) Tom had his own show and there was nothing that could prevent me from watching it. Today’s “singers” have nothing on either of these two Welsh marvels. I do wish, however, that Wales would export some contenders!
Stop writing nonsense. Tom Jones was first on the Ed Sullivan show. His first visit to the United States was with Ed Sullivan. Johnny's show didn't even exist yet.
I just saw Engelbert Humperdinck show at Aqua Caliente last Saturday. That was my 2nd time to see him. I also saw Tom Jones in Las Vegas a few years ago. They are both awesome singers.. ❤️ to see them again. Elna
in all honesty they very well may go under the radar even if we did. The styles that are popular nowadays do not lend themselves to proper singing. Instead we reward aguillera/beyonce-like oversinging

How much fun to see these two guys in their prime. I have been an Engelbert fan since 1970, and I liked Tom too. They were talent; so much more enjoyable than what we see and hear today. Too bad they are not on speaking terms any longer. I heard that Engelbert reached out to Tom, but Tom was not interested. What a shame -they were friends, and were and are great talents. I wish them both many blessings.

My parents (may they RIP) were fans of both Englebert and Tom, they watch their shows back then and bought their albums as well! That's how I got into their music! Love playing them on my summer road trips!
True entertainers. Variety shows are extinct now and its so special to be able to still see these performances. Thank you Eng for the many years of happiness you have brought into my life. Its 2021 and you are still a romantic fantasy to me. You still sound and look wonderful and I pray another 20 years of health and stage for you. Love you Eng.

Never seen this before and watching it with a mixture of laughing, smiling and same time tears in my eyes. Laughing smiling from watching them have such fun together, how they compliment each other. Tesrs because, being born in the middle of the 60s, i grew up watching and listening to them and the realisation of how much time has passed and that we will never ever see anything even approaching this again. 💙💙🎵⭐⭐
I am 19 years old and I do believe this an example of what great talent is! I hope for the sake of our new generations, that these songs and artists are introduced to the music world of nowadays.
Its possible again. Its possible by having a population have similar experiences and influences as when Englelbert & Jones were growing up. How do we do this? As the Amish in America have isolated themselves from the outside world and been able to keep their skills and values the same for a century and a half with little change so this formula can be used for other eras. So like minded people must claim regions and build it on an era that suits them(ie..1950's or 60's or even 20's) and keep it isolated from the now modern world to the point the new generations born there know of no other time. This is how we preserve an era in perpetuity and even expand what the era is capable without dwelling outside the era's style.
Both of these guys had great voices! I watched them as a teen growing up. No autotune, no processing, no gymnastics etc.,Just a microphone, some reverb and a marvelous "REAL" orchestra. And Tom Jones had so much 'soul' when he sung!
Totally incredible talent these two wonderful singers have, their command and control over their singing and the showmanship! Especially, Tom Jones. Both, in their 80s, are still singing. I grew up listening to both for over half a century.
Did you forget the king? Elvis's chameleon voice changed multiple times in his very very short life and career. Elvis's soul depth and diversity remain unmatched.
Great to see this, I love them both, Tom can really let rip with a song and push it to the limit while Engelbert Humperdinck is more restrained and perhaps more Intimate . Both as good as each other and highly rewarding to listen to.
Engelbert's style is natural and effortless. Tom's delivery requires him to push notes out. It looks and sounds like he’s struggling with a problem on the toilet.
Don't forget how to dress!! Female singers that wear a body suit when they sing is nuts! There are too many beautiful dresses/outfits. I'm thinking Cher back in the day and Adele, current day.
May I please thank you for your brave service to our country. It was a terrifying war, with horrible loss of life and limb and mental duress for many returning soldiers! My brother also served in the U.S. Army, in Vietnam. He survived a Huey MediVac helicopter crash. Shot down into a tree, with the motor still running, making a lot of noise for the enemy to shoot at. He was the pilot, & he sustained a rifle bullet through his calf, which was a bloody mess & he was also bleeding badly, from his mouth (he'd bit his tongue), so the Huey crew left him behind, for dead, as they thought he had internal injuries. Well, he woke up & had the struggle of his life getting out of his harness/seatbelt, and crawling his way out of the helicopter and down the tree to the safety of a trench, where his fellow soldiers had already found some slight form of safety. They had already radioed ahead that "the pilot was dead". But, my brother survived! I was visiting a friend in Washington, when my parents called to tell me this news. He was transferred from the hospital, in Okinawa, to Walter Reed Hospital, so I was able to go reunite with him, that day. He had to go through many large & painful skin grafts and rehabilitation to get to walk again. He even learned to roll his own skin grafts from his thigh, since it was less painful when he did it himself! But he didn't lose his leg and he fully recovered & went back to college. Then worked & went for his Master of Science & eventually got a job as a marine biologist, & got to spend a lot of time out on the rivers, fishing. He loved the river shores and the beach and had worked as a lifeguard during his teenage years. Unfortunately, at age 40 and on his vacation at an Atlantic coast beach, he died while rescuing two older women, both retired nurses, who were caught in a bad riptide. He brought them to safety, out of the riptide, but suffered a stroke and died during the rescue. He had a boogie board he'd taken out with him, so they were able to keep him afloat until help arrived. He had a lovely wife, & two daughters, aged 9 and 11. His wife took excellent care of his daughters and they grew up to become nurse practitioners and are wonderful people! It was a terrible loss for his wife and daughters, and his Mom & Dad, and five siblings, his relatives & friends, many of them were his Vietnam buddies, his fellow soldiers, who became his life-long friends, so there was a large attendance at his funeral. He was buried in Arlington Cemetery with the horse-drawn hearse and military honors. I am 80 years of age, and have missed his laugh, and his jokes & company for the past 34 years. BTW, he stayed on to train other Huey pilots how to fly with night-vision during the time that many crews were crashing & dying. I was afraid this might happen to his crew! Especially since a crash had occurred two weeks before his drowning during the stroke.
Oh Lordy, sheer musical magic! I love these two! Enge all suave and sophisticated with a voice of honey, Tom cute and sexy, oozing testosterone, a powerhouse of soul with the moves to match. Marvellous to see these two at their prime together and having fun, great times, great voices, great talents. Thank you so much for uploading. 👍😍
Great to see this! Two great talents. As great as this was, now imagine if Elvis Presley had joined these two on stage!! They would have had a ball!! Either way, we’re talking total greatness.
Elvis wouldn’t share the stage with either of them, although he was asked. Tom went to an Elvis performance and was even pointed out to the crowd by the King, who said he had the best voice of any performer, still Elvis never asked him to join him in a song. The only time he preformed with an equal popularity but better talent was with Frank Senarta. Elvis had the voice of a angel but an ego from hell. I loved the guy but can’t say I liked him. Jones shared the stage with all the greats, and was apparently a close friend with Elvis but Elvis wouldn’t share the stage with another great. Wouldn’t it have been something to have all these people singing together at one time or another.

I was the class leader at a Taiwan's senior high school class in 1969, and I "ordered" the whole class to sing along with me all the songs sung by these two most-admired "hero" singers! I can still recall that scene vividly even now as a retired professor at 69! ^^ Thanks for sharing.
I taught English in Taiwan. Loved every moment of my time there.
I love Taiwan bec of Taiwan's dramas. I think they have the nicest people there.

@@MarkCasey65 Welcome back anytime to Taiwan! ^^ Peter
I loved both of their voices back in the day! I was 18 back in 1969. We all thought Tom Jones was the sexiest man we had ever seen! Boy, could he dance! Both of them were so popular; I loved the duets and the humor.

Amazing how they can make a song their own. Truly great singers and performers. Today's music pales in comparison.
Thanks for being a fan I really appreciate you.!
I don't even understand today's music
tom jones c'est du pur talent et tellement beau et sympathique
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,...
Not only the voices of these two magnificent singers are the most beautiful, their pronunciation of the words are also perfect and pure.
Yes, you can understand them!!!lllll!
I'm getting old and losing my hearing but in this clip I can hear every word perfectly.
Yes, I completely agree to your point as a foreign toungue to English.
Comparatively, for me, Tom's is clearer.
No wonder they are both Englishmen
@@tetdizon7559 Careful! A Welsh friend of mine makes a big point of pointing out, that Jones is Welsh, not English!
I remember this as if it was yesterday. Two incredible voices in their prime. Wish they'd team up once more before we lose one.
Hello Barbie, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
Wouldn’t that be good
They're both getting up there and their voices aren't what they used to be, and yet it would be legendary. That kind of event could and probably would sell out any venue.
@@Trevorjennings679 If you didn't understand Barbie's comment... she is a senior, probably a grandmother. Still want a hook-up? "How are you doing?" following any post by a female. Sheesh, I see this a few times every day.
I sure do feel the same, however Englebert is my fav!Big fan for over 52 years now!
Lets not be ridiculous please These 2 were certainly talented but there are quite a few others who can "compare" with them
Stop writing nonsense.
Tom Jones was first on the Ed Sullivan show.
His first visit to the United States was with Ed Sullivan.
Johnny's show didn't even exist yet.
They were fabulous

When singers actually knew how to sing & perform , 10 out of 10 for both gentleman's !
Pure talent!!!
They didn't "know" how to sing, they were music themselves, they were magic themselves. It is beyond singing, this is iconic in my opinion.

How sad we don’t have singers like that now. I love these two. 🥰
in all honesty they very well may go under the radar even if we did. The styles that are popular nowadays do not lend themselves to proper singing. Instead we reward aguillera/beyonce-like oversinging

Hello, how're you doing?
As I always say, the so-called music is hateful and ugly. AND so are the so called performers
I can be one day
How much fun to see these two guys in their prime.
Both of them cheated on their long suffering wives. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
They both had the same agent Gordon Mills, not sure why they didn't stay friends, but such is life.
They both knew who they were marrying, no one force them
@@verawallace9055 I think they were both married before they became famous, fame automatically makes people more attractive to other people.
Tom is still alive and kicking on the The Voice UK. His voice is still very good at 80+ years old..

Exactly. Engelbert's smile seems so sincere and natural. Nothing to do with most artist who think the got to be the only ones on stage.

Great to see two magnificent talents put ego aside and perform together. So refreshing and professional!
Tom Jones taking the high note harmony on “our way “ really nice. Two power houses sharing the one stage. I would have paid well to experience that!
Never say never,I guess.
Tom and Engelbert in their absolute pomp. Tom's voice in 1969 was at its finest, both melodic and powerful. What talents these are.

What a lovely comment
Love and strength FROM IRELAND🙋🇨🇮
No giant like them any more sadly.
Share it!!!!

@@bradhuskers Yes! Huge fan of Tom and Engelbert, both legendary performers but there's only one King! 😎
Great to see this, I love them both, Tom can really let rip with a song and push it to the limit while Engelbert Humperdinck is more restrained and perhaps more Intimate . Both as good as each other and highly rewarding to listen to.
They both had ridiculous and effortless range.
No expert but Humperdinck has a smoother, more velvety voice but Jones was a bit more powerful and could really hit the high notes.
amen to both 🙏💋💕❤💙💟
I read Eng had TB as a child, they had him sing to clear up his lungs. I think it worked 😃 ❤️
Even as a parody they both nail each other’s songs , respect

I miss these two spectacular voices on tv. REAL voices...real power and range.
Tom is 81 and still touring and sounding great.
I love Engelbert´s voice, but I love Tom Jones´s strong voice..
Great voices with great looks. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Engelbert's style is natural and effortless. Tom's delivery requires him to push notes out. It looks and sounds like he’s struggling with a problem on the toilet.

Two of the greatest voices of the 20th C together on stage! I was in 'Nam in December '69 so I missed this show...finally got to see it.
I was in Nam as the same time. We received the recorded version
I am 80 years of age, and have missed his laugh, and his
jokes & company for the past 34 years.
Yes beauntiful
Totally agree, couldn't have said better myself. Saw them in concert in Toronto (separately) and they each put on a fabulous show. 💖💙💖💙
