A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY! PART 3!
This is a longplay of game Super Star Wars - Return of The Jedi, sometimes also called Super Return of The Jedi for some people. Is a run and gun released for the Super Nintendo in North America on June 22, 1994, Europe on March 30, 1995 and in Japan on June 23, 1995. It is the third and final game in the Super Star Wars trilogy and is based on the 1983 film Return of the Jedi.
This game follows the same style of its predecessors, there are platform stages and stages to pilot the ships, the soundtrack and graphics were quite improved, in addition to playing with Luke now you can now play with the character Leia Organa (which has different clothes and weapons at each stage), and Han Solo, Chewie and Wicket! And this game ends the classic Star Wars trilogy on the SNES with golden key, one this trilogy one of the rare examples of good movie-based games.
Played on Jedi Difficult with core improvements in cutscenes and sounds (Bizhawk)! May be force be with you! -

You make this look easy. I can remember struggling as a kid just to get to the speeder bike stage since that was my favorite part of the movie.
I hate TH-cam ads!
That's cuz it's played on an emulator. Snes had too much lag for it to come from there.
He's probably using a TAS (Tool Assisted Speedrun). It's basically an AI that can just blow through most of the game as fast as possible.
@@Anonymous-ob6bs I dunno, I wasn't _this_ good, but I beat it as a kid just fine, no tool-assist needed. It's no cakewalk, but it's a lot easier than _Super Empire._
Took me hours to figure out you had to boost to make the jumps.
All 3 of these were epic back in the day and now but to have those memories of my friend buying this and having the best sleep overs. Hard to watch someone who is crap but never got old watching a skilled player.
This was the best 3 Star Wars games ever- SNES Trilogy classic!
yes they are! they're awesome games! so underrated
May The Force Be With You!
That’s because these were and still are the best 3 movies
@@woodyburns Yes the gold standard of Star Wars movies
These were the "Dark Souls" of my childhood 😅
I’m over tearing up because this game is a core memory. This was fun to watch
This was the game that made me fall in love with star wars before I even saw the movies.
I got this game when I was around 4 years old and struggled so much for a long time with the speeder level. When i finally got past it, i struggled so much with Jaba's Palace. I would watch that game over screen over and over again, with palpatine's creepy face taunting and laughing at me. I would sit at the title screen after a game over, getting to see glimpses of some future levels this game had to offer. There was so much mystery of what was to come. So much I was afraid of, but tried my best to overcome and never could. Even to this day I dont think I have made it that far in this game. Years later, when I was maybe around 9 or 10, I made the attempt to play again and finally triump over Jaba's palace and the levels after that. Never made it past Endor's imperial base. I found it too difficult.
But i said all of that to say, holy shit who ever is playing this is making my years of attempts look infantile. I may try this game again in the near future. It came across my mind quickly and im glad I searched it up on YT and found this video. This game was truly ahead of its time. Glad there were so many others that got to enjoy this gem on the SNES.
May 4th just ended, but May the 4th be with you!
Well put. I enjoyed you anecdote.
Wow just wow, such a feeling of memory watching you play these. The aesthetics and gameplay are just something special, when you start each level some rusty gears in my brain start turning again, essentially Luke in tatooine

Best three star wars games ever on probably the greatest console ever. Great that Harrison Fong worked on the game :)
Who is Harrison Fong, man??

At 53:00 we can see the best TIE fighter pilots in the history of Star Wars media. Not only are they able to fly backwards in an extremely narrow space, they are able to do so faster than the Millennium Falcon can move forwards in that same space while engaging in a fire fight. If the movie TIE pilots had been that talented then the Empire would have won.
He piloted the ship that made the kessel run in under ELEVEN parsecs

A step down in difficulty after the durasteel-tough Super Empire Strikes Back, but that's likely a good choice; I enjoyed this one far more. Gotta love Leia taking down the entire sail barge crew including Jabba with nothing but a chain and a bikini XD
She was clearly channelling her inner Belmont with that chain-whip!
@@DrownedInExile Jabba: (In Huttese) [What is a man?! A miserable little pile of Bantha Poodoo! Hohoho!]
This is my favourite of the Game trilogy it was a little less difficult one easy mode than New hope and Empire Strikes Back.
Even on hard mode SROTJ seemed so easy.
This one was the only one i managed to finsih even with the hardest difficulty, the first two were hard AF, only for hardcore players.
Fully upgraded Chewie was a God in this game.
Used to be a proud moment beating these. I remember the last bit flying the falcon through the death star being a right headache
Dylan Thomas it's a huge headache indeed, drove me nuts
56:24
For those who came to see how it's done.
Here's my recommendation on how to beat it;
Obviously hold B the entire time, make sure you're adjusting with the L and R button knowing which direction you'll need to when entering a new corridor, and whatever you do, do NOT use the Up and Down buttons on the control pad, only use left and right when avoiding the barrier walls.
The best game of the Star Wars trilogy on SNES.
The only one.
The hardest one
I like how Luke can fight the Emperor in this game. In the movie he doesn't and he just lets himself get electrocuted.
They were 3 great games on the SNES!!! At the time the graphics, sounds and gameplay were amazing and me and my mates spent entire weekends staying at each other’s houses trying to finish them........great memories. They don’t look too bad today considering they are 27 years old.........shiiiiiit just googled that and I was 10 at the time. Glad I was old enough to appreciate them when they were released.
Yes I remember playing the star wars games on super nintendo back in the 90s. They were great and fun games to play.
I played this loads as a kid and never knew leia could shoot energy beams. I was taking everything out with her jump attack only. Damn it I made it way harder than it needed to be
The emperor's face floating back onto the screen... laughing...
Like he isn't really dead...
Well, he is dead.
So you’re saying…somehow Palpatine survived.
I have such a warm fuzzy nostalgic feeling about these games, which is strange because I was constantly frustrated from getting beat down while playing them! I'm not sure if I beat any of them! Great to see you crush this one! Things were looking a little hairy on the surface of the death star but I had faith in you!
These games could have been some of the SNES greatest but the all around difficulty and the ridiculous amount of health on bosses is just pure ebola, just so people were unable to ever beat them in rentals, the difficulty level and frustration in these games is just stupid. Sad, because the graphics, music, animations and art direction is fantastic.
I beat them all myself once you got the hang of it, it gets easier, now if we talking about nintendo games there are a lot I never beat
Same here, I got furthest in Super Star Wars….actually got into the Death Star. The other two did not get far at all but loved playing them all the same. Great looking but very unforgiving
19:49 URA! URAAA! URAAAA!!
@@jekw23 I think a lot of us were so happy to have finally have decent looking STAR WARS games that we were too forgiving of the absurd difficulty.
Leia is apparently channelling her inner Belmont with that chain-whip!
Luke's spinning jump move was so good.
I think I beat this when I rented it at release. Super Star Wars revived my interest in the trilogy along with the Timothy Zahn books. I played it for the flight stages and when I dueled with Vader. Possibly the first time one could feel like a Jedi. Definitely the best XWing stages up to that point since I couldn’t afford a PC to play the XWing series.
Something similar yeah. Rented it as a kid and was the only one of the Super Star Wars games I was able to complete. Flying the ships was a true joy.
This is just so classic, i'v still got my Super Star Wars Trilogy games on the snes.
Couldn't ever beat this or make it past certain levels but that dramatic JVC screen was EVERYTHING!
34:40 your Millenium Falcon aiming skills are...impressive...most impressive.
51:16 Jim: Stop right there, Emperor dude.
I find it odd how Leia can shoot energy beams, yet still gets taken captive.
I played this game a lot without having any idea what Star Wars was, I discovered it a few years later.
This is the new Super Star Wars game and it the last installment of the game of 1994. 1992 was the Super Star Wars. Last year was Super Empire Strikes Back. And now this year was Super Return Of The Jedi.
I played this forever ago when it was new. I remember thinking the music was awesome for the game, and the controls were better then the older ones, but I don't remember how or why.
I do recall though, that at the end area, with the red royal guards and Vader, something dropped a Thermal Detonator in a very opportune place and the stage was suddenly beaten. I don;t recall the specifics, but I do remember my younger brothers and me yelling with excitement about the "grenade" and then laughing for several minutes when it worked in our favor so impossibly well. That was many, many years ago, and one of my few memories from this trilogy besides button mashing Han's blaster pistol
Guards, leave us.
Ah yes when Chewie fought the Rancor was my favorite part in the movie! =P. In all serious though. Loved these games as a kid. Personally I felt Empire Strikes Back was the hardest and my favorite of the SNES Super Star Warseses. The fight with Big D-Vade at the end was soooooooo hard!
I still remember the slaughter of jawas in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. I can’t help, but laugh at the absurdity of it.
I absolutely loved this and Super ESB back in the 90s. This was PEAK Star Wars back then. I remember feeling like it was as real as it could get and I didn’t know how any game could capture Star Wars any better.
Really, it was mostly that I had a lightsaber and it was functional and fun for the first time in gaming history. But good lord did it feel majestic.
Oh yeah, I distinctly remember that part in Jedi when Jabba was confronted, and Leia became a spinning dynamo of death to deal with his guards, lol.
I have fond memories of super Star Wars . It was both fun and ridiculously hard at the same time. Awesome game 👍👍
Super The Empire Strikes Back was way worse, trust me.
Zerei esse jogo duas vezes na infância, que clássico.
this is worth seeing!!! The Power of 16 Bits
Man what I would do to go back in time and play this game as a kid again, now grown up fighting cancer sucks
when you find out that, apparently, Bib Fortuna can teleport and shoot energy balls out of his lekku....
De wahna whanga?
Hearing Jabbas laugh over and over again horr horr horr horr horr LOL!😂🤣
La trilogía de star wars de snes, de lo mejorcito de esta plataforma. Buenos recuerdos
These Star Wars games are awesome. I think these old games that were on SNES should be put on a game disc.
54:25 May the force be with us.
I got irrationally happy when I saw that Wicket W Warrick is a playable character. A true warrior and hero
A game that really should have been made in the late 80s cant believe it came out in 1994 when the PS1 was released only a year later
Não conhecida esse jogo ! Adorei bem diversificado com fases fiéis ao filme e aos personagens ! Isso merecia uma nova roupagem pra ser lançado no mercado
Took a while for han to recognize that laugh he was laughing for quite a while :p
54:24 Amazing. A true Jedi MASTER you are.
This playthrough is better than any of the new star wars movies
Honestly, all nine movies in the Star Wars saga need to be one super long game like this, with the Clone Wars, Rebels, Resistance, Rogue One, and Solo spin offs being additional levels.
They should do a super Star Wars series
Like clone wars rebels and resistance
They should call them super clone wars super rebels and super resistance 😊
They should do those based on the animated series

Final Boss: Darth Vader

Final Boss: Emperor

Final Boss: Death star
This game was awesome i just wished they had given the ability to put away your lightsaber to Luke since that was one of the iconic things of that franchise, just hearing the sound it made when extending and retracting was one of the things i looked forward to.
I just realized that, while the game was not made by Konami, the fight with Palpatine is basically a Death or Dracula fight from Castlevania.
A couple good things are the original Ewok celebration song at the end & Sebastian Shaw as Anakin at the end. Those won't ever be changed
Oh please, don’t be in denial and pretend that the updated ROTJ end song and Hayden Christensen being added weren’t improvements.
@@SeekersLegacy - You're a funny guy
I never knew this game existed, thanks for the upload ! =D It's very total... amazing.. it covers the entire film haha ! Well done programmers and artists and creators ! ;) =D
This run is great, but doesn't do justice as to how enormous some of these levels were.
You don't always need the new game systems or there games to enjoy gaming some times all you need is game's like this one.
Loved the SNES Star Wars games.
Game lore:
Leia storms tattoine with the empires theme and duels to the death with jabbas doorbell leia storms jabbas palace and commits xenocide then leia kills bib fortuna luke following his sisters example comits xenocide while pulls powers out of his ass then proceds to kill the dad of some frogs chewie digs underground and finds hismelf in rancor pit while kills everyone there
Um dos melhores jogos do Super Nintendo.
I've been playing Super Star Wars Episode IV and V but I haven't gotten to that one yet. And now that I'm seeing this gameplay of VI that I'm still going to start playing, I'm finding it better than all the previous ones, superior, evolved well and added new things in the game.

Oh man, I never knew Leia had a charge attack, wth
favourite SNES game of ALL TIME!
It's been 26 years since my dad got my siblings and me this game. I never knew you could cheese Sidious by turning invisible.
LOL, I love the little nuclear explosions when an enemy dies...
42:30 HOLY CRAP THIS SUPER NINTENDO GAME PREDICTED DARK TROOPERS
33:18 Luke fought Dark Troopers before Mando Season 2 made it cool
Why does the Emperor sound like Barney Rubble when he's laughing? 😂😂😂
I’m impressed by Leia & Hans flipping abilities.
man these games were just awesome
I played this game 30 years ago as a kid and I never knew you could switch and use different Force abilities 🤦🏽 no wonder I never beat this game
LOL!!! >_
Imagine yourself when 14-15 years old trying to beat that last level (Escape from Death Star), enjoying a 3D experience that pushed hard the SNES capabilities, being hyped by the BGM that was the best SW music SNES could offer, travelling in what felt just like the actual Millennium Falcon, and at the same time cursing Sculptured Software, JVC and George Lucas himself for the stage's goddamn difficulty 🤣
End screen has Emperor Palpatine's face and sounds of him laughing. He knew he was coming back again in Rise of Skywalker.
I always thought those rocks you dodge in the opening sequence were busts of Ace Ventura Pet Detective.
May The 4th be with you
I remember this it was good game one of the best star war games ever
When the Jawa flys off the screen and makes his iconic sound. 😂
Solid background videos, I should throw this on my TV
No Boba Fett boss fight? I felt like we were robbed.
thanks for the video.i playes it when i was a teen,i loved it
I feel like Han Solo playing this at the end triying to escape from the explotion.
I love the Star Wars games more of a fan of the two on NES but the SNES it’s also amazing
when I was a kid i played through all of these, got through the emperor fight and flying into the death star but I was never able to escape and fully beat the game
XRavenXP 👍😬
Trilogy Super Star Wars is Excellent 😍
🖖👽🖖
👊😃
The Luke section in the underground looks like a re-skin of Black Tiger.
The flying through the death star just gave me PTSD
I had visions of being surrounded by flames.
Damn i don't remember Leia being able to do the Screw Attack
I don't remember Bib Fortuna being able to shoot fire balls out of his neck tentacles hahaha
When I still young I finished STARWARS(Namco)(NES) and Trilogy of STARWARS(SNES) . If right now I play it again I wouldn't able to finished It anymore cause I don't young anymore.
Huh?
I got this game for my birthday in 94 and loved it.
You know what I would love? Super PT and Super ST games in 16 bit
Man, that Ewok village sure is a nasty place! 😁
Legends says Jabba still Laughs in the credits of the game
33:09 Mandalorian? whatss... and Force Freeze( Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order) ¿?¿?¿ this game is Epic.
HY HEART JUMPS GOOD OLD TIMES
I think this is the best of the movie adaption Star Wars games.
THE BATTLE TOADS LOOK IS DOPE
Absolutely right about the snes sw being Absolutely hard without the full plasma blaster power up. And the final stage was crazy hard
I wish these games were available on Nintendo Switch!
