The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007) - another mockumentary about a serial killer who left behind a vast collection of tapes detailing his crimes. I've told people this is my favorite found footage film, and I can still stand by it, though it's definitely not for everyone. I think it really does a good job being more of a mockumentary than most others, to the point where by the end of the film you almost worry about whether or not what you just watched was actually real. It's dark and sadistic, bizarre and off-putting, and I wouldn't recommend it if very real depictions of abuse and torture are too much for you.
Papa ended up mentioning The Tunnel in the third video of this collab and I'm so glad he did! I want to give a shoutout to another Australian found-footage film, The Tunnel (2011). Like Lake Mungo, its cover is shithouse but I found it a very enjoyable watch. The scene in the air raid bunker is so good. All you need to know is that its about a journalistic crew that thinks the government is covering up something in the abandoned subway train system underneath Sydney, Australia
Lake Mungo was creepy but by the end of it i became so inexplicably sad. Even just thinking about it makes me depressed. It's a movie about learning how to cope with grief and the loss of a loved one. It also hits the same depressing note as the movie Relic (2020) that's about dealing with seeing your parents go through alzheimers or dementia. Sometimes the most horrific things are the most realistic and tragic ones.
Stuff like this can be the most horrific and sad, but sometimes it can also be extremely cathartic to those going through stuff like grief and losing someone you love to disease/something you can’t fix or solve. I watch “A Quiet Place” (I know it’s not found footage, but it’s important for this post)whenever I feel the need to cry. I lost my dad to cancer last year and my family went through quite bit before he passed. I feel everything the family goes through and the dad’s death really hits home for me. I watch this movie whenever I feel I have not been good enough for my father, I watch it whenever my grief becomes too much, and I watch it to remind myself that no matter what, my father loves me so much. Horror films can be sad and terrifying, but they can also remind us to find the good and love in these moments in our lives.
Can't agree more. It excels in building up the tension and the creepiness and yet, but the time the final reveal comes, it just leaves you with this deep and profound sadness, the realization that you never got to say goodbye to someone and that you never truly can. It's such a surprisingly deep and moving film about loss, grief, and forgiveness cleverly disguised as a ghost story.
I was about to be a senior in High School when Blair Witch came out. It by word of mouth "IRL" "went viral" and was a really fun thing that happened, one of the last fun pre high speed internet and 9/11 wholesome memories. Excited for the new Creep Cast podcast, two brilliant talents and skills of Wendigoon and Papa Meat
I thought I was an outsider watching this video until they talked about incantation. I group this movie with “As Above: So Below” and “The Pyramid” because they involve found footage and monsters waiting underground, it’s a kind of horror that, for a while, made me more scared of the dark than when I was a little kid
@@jbrfr94 I didn't really like that movie. Seen it in theaters when it came out, and I gotta say, big screen really helps the feel of the movie. Concept and idea is great, however I hated how main character girl just had like 20 degrees and was never in any danger, as she figures everything right away, because she's like expert in anthropology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, ancient Egyptian mythology, she's professional gymnast, etc. It got old real quick.
Yeah, that moment in The Bay where the woman is in the middle of the street crying for someone to take her to a hospital works perfectly in the style of a found footage movie, because it is the exact way I could see that woman reacting to having a medical emergency like that in a public place. Could easily see my own mother reacting in that same way, which makes the film hit people closer to home with how realistic it depicts unnerving situations.
Your mother is a horrific white woman who likes to harass and disturb people in public? Who likes to make her problems other people’s problems? Straight white women are awful
My mom had a medical emergency and I’m pretty medically adept the only thing that bothers me ironically is parasites and I had a flashback to the bay for a second I hesitated but then I was like nah no time for that
I'm so glad you mentioned The Bay. The creator of Rain Man asked the producers of Paranormal Activity to make a horror. The Bay is one of those movies almost no one has seen and it's so awesome first time watching
I'm VERY happy that you brought up Borderlands, it's so fucking good. I randomly started watching it a ways through on halloween a couple years back after getting home late, and from the burning scene I was hooked. The last few minutes genuinely kept me up at night, and that's not something easily done to me. It's so well done and barely anyone even knows what it is.
FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONS THE BAY, YES. It was like one of the best found footage horrors I've seen, it is so underrated. It might be cheap, they might've needed to cut some corners and it shows but still the premise and the execution was really unique, at least to me. It managed to be calm but still pretty disturbing.
I really liked Trollhunter, it's a Norwegian fantasy film in the style of found footage. It doesn't take itself seriously too much, but there are aspects of genuine horror that keep you from laughing the whole thing off. It's just an overall fun movie, more people need to see it.
There's a lot of great reasons to love Mungo. My favorite Mungo fact is that the director went out of his way to use completely unknown actors, who happen to also be absolutely incredible, so that when you looked up their names online there wouldn't be any evidence that they were anything but real people. I was able to trick my wife into thinking the entire thing was real until the climax.
Never thought I'd hear the day people talk about the actual good found footage films. Like they are SO GOOD for the horror genre when done well. I don't even care how many times it's done, once I'm captivated.
God I loved The Bay! It actually introduced me to Cymothoa Exigua! Such a unique parasite! Thankfully those Isopods only prefer fish, and they're not Zoonotic. However, The Bay gave a sick twist to those little dudes and absolutely nailed it. Edit: Creep and Creep 2 are absolutely amazing as well! You guys covered amazing films! Hope to see more reviews like this!
I really thought that Gonjiam Haunted Asylum was one of the scariest found footages I’ve ever seen. Incantation really got me interested because of the East Asian deities and mythology. It was an amazing film.

bless you! It would be so fun to have a film club kinda podcast, like if they set out a film we had to watch before they recorded the episode and then did a deep dive on it per ep. Or even several films so they can compare them in the ep.
I gotta recommend Gonjiam Haunted Asylum! My personal favorite found footage film right now, it's a South Korean found footage film that follows a web blogging crew that go around seeing paranormal based areas, where they livestream everything and decide to check out a supposedly haunted, abandoned mental asylum!
Savageland is one of my favorite! It’s more mockumentary style but the story is good and the premise is pretty interesting! On tubi at the time of writing this
It's a damn good film! Really wasn't expecting it to be so good when I first started watching but it turned into one of my top 5 found footage movies ever, shows how effectively stills can be used to scared
I hoped to see *Noroi: The Curse* on the list. It's actually one of my favourite found footage movies. Special effects may not be top tier, but the atmosphere is fantastic. I really, really recommend this one!
Very late reply, but Noroi is amazing, and one of those films I end up thinking about at all the wrong times (walking home late at night through dark woods was not fun for months after watching it). No spoilers, but the best part for me is the hikikomori/shut-in character, who while played for a bit of comedy is actually very tragic and is given more respect than your typical comedic relief character. The more I imagine his situation, the more disturbing it is.
The Tunnel (2011) is such an amazing mocumentary found footage movie I would recommend if you've never seen it. Hard to come by nowadays, but its a news crew that follows a story of missing homeless people in the sewers below Sydney Australia and what could be the cause of it and why the government is ignoring it
I love to see wendigoon blowing up so much this last year or so. The dude makes good content. He does a lot of iceberg videos which i normally don't care for, but i never miss an upload cuz i know it's gonna be interesting at the very least.
not sure if this counts as found footage, but savageland is an absolute must see. it’s a mockumentary about a massacre that was believed to be the work of one guy, but the guys camera was later discovered and the photographs shows the monsters that actually did the killing. since the ”found footage” isn’t a video but rather a collection of photos it is debatable wether or not the film counts as being a found footage movie, but it’s still one of the most terrifying films of the past decade and is super underrated
Another one I enjoyed recently was Antrum. The movie is shot in a very 70’s style as a sort of “mockumentary” with the entire film sorta going for the creepy pasta “this film killed people” thing- being a relic lost in time The main premise is that a girl and her younger brother seek to dig a hole to hell to get their recently deceased dog. It’s initially implied that the sister could be lying to ease her brother’s grief (in a very morbid, satanic way) and many of the early “demons” could be considered very childish perceptions of the world around them. But out of this also comes the surreal blend of imagination and horror. The world around them becomes more confusing (with multiple different stylistic shots blending in with the whole 70’s feel), and the forest becomes more hellish in appearance. The whole “this film killed people” trope is the weakest aspect of the film, and honestly feels like a marketing gimmick as well as a reason to make the movie as bizarre as it is. The real “meat” of the film is still quite good
I'm going to recommend any of the found footage movies from Kōji Shiraishi. Noroi and Occult are some of my favorite Japanese found footage horror movies. The Senritsu Kaiki Files series from him have been great too most of them have been uploaded on TH-cam.
Lake Mungo will forever be special to me. I've never felt such dread and horror ever in a horror movie. I also watched it with my boys and it was a spectacle I'll never forget. Lake Mungo fans will NEVER forget the footage on the phone. It also was beautiful how real it legitimately felt.
I'm SO glad you mentioned "Behind the Mask". It's been one of my favourite films to re-visit since my buddy and I first rented the DVD back in the early 2000's while looking for bad horror films to watch. I rarely come across anyone else who has seen it. Hitting viewers with "Psycho Killer" in the end credits was nothing but the right choice XD One really cool thing I think should be mentioned is that it's also set in a universe where all these slashers - Myers, Krueger, Voorhees etc. - actually exist as legends. There are these great little sequences where the crew actually go to the places where the killings occurred and attempt to interview the locals who are less than receptive. One of the interviewees was also played by Kane Hodder, and of course, Doc Halloran is played by Robert Englund. Scott Wilson has a great little cameo too. Just an all around fun time.
You have no idea how happy I am you brought up creep, I remember the night I first watched it i had major nightmares (which for a horror movie is a good thing) and after I looked into how this whole movie was basically only made with thos two guys I just knew it was one of my new favorite movies.
My first experience with [REC], I was around 12 years old, in the back of my dads 18 wheeler in the dead of night. He put on this movie for me so that I can fall asleep. I can tell you right now, I did not go to sleep. I was terrified.
A found footage film that is criminally underrated is "Afflicted". My expectations were blown away, and I did not expect the film to go where it went, especially on the budget it had, mad respect to the two directors/screenwriters.
What I found strange about that movie is that those two guys never made anything after that. It was legit well made movie and I expected they would do mainstream movie after that, but nope, they never did. My only guess is that they might have used fake names as writers\directors, and made other movies afterwards under their real names, but nothing really confirms this theory. I mean, what would actually be the point anyway, plenty of directors made FF movies under their real name and went on to make other mainstream movies, most notably Jar Jar Abrams.
V/H/S was the scariest experience I've ever had watching a found footage horror movie with friends. We had a group hang out, and there was 8 of us who sat around and watched the movie at midnight after smoking and drinking a bunch. Everyone was having fun at first until the first clip got crazy, and then after that everyone was silent or jumping until the movie ended. One of the coolest things I've ever done, I still watch that movie every so often and enjoy it. The second one isn't nearly as good as the first.
So, about BE MY CAT from the moment you show the guy and he starts speaking whit that broken english i instantly realized where Adrian is from, beinig a Romanian myself ive hear a lot of people speak english like that and i dont know why but whenever i see something related to romania on youtube i just love it
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Savageland! I think it takes a really unique approach on the found footage genre and I haven't seen anything like it. The suggestive horror is off the charts, especially the more religious elements near the middle of the mockumentary. I still close all my blinds at night because of it.
I watched The Borderlands last night after seeing a video by Ryan Hollinger. I really enjoyed it. It's a slow burn but it doesn't feel like it because of Gray and Deacon's friendship. The ending is horrifying.
The first video you two did together was great and so is this one. I can't wait to see the rest of the categories. I'm excited to see the Monster Movie category
I know the series has been hit or miss but I still really like VHS 2 as a found footage movie. Specifically safe haven which was co directed by Gareth Evens who directed The Raid series. Slumber Party Alien Abduction is also really fun.
I love horror and am definitely going to checkout a few of these, it’s just a little hard being a woman whose nearly been kidnapped before, so movies relating to that are a little hard for me to watch as there is a real terror there(ex: tiktok recommended this “super scary found footage movie” with no context and I made the mistake of watching basically a girl get stuffed in a barrel). I’m happy you guys are able to summarize them without spoiling too much so others can know what they’re getting into ❤
I remember my first found footage film being Cloverfield and absolutely falling in love with the genre. Chronicle, Project Almanac, and Troll Hunter were all favorites of mine. I didn't get into horror until I watched Paranormal Activity, which opened up a whole new door for me. Other ones I recommend to anyone who likes the genre are Encounters, Pheonix Forgotten, Alien Abduction, Dashcam, and As Above So Below. Some of these are extreemly cheesy, I know. I just love aliens though!
Awesome video MeatGoon! Lake Mungo and Behind the Mask are both fantastic lesser talked about found footage films! Really radl to see gems like those here! Y'alls chemistry is really great as well, hope to see you two collabing consistently!
First off, I love that you brought up The Borderlands, that movie was probably one of the best found footage I've ever seen! Second, it took me about 3 hours to finish this video because I had to stop and watch the ones I haven't seen. Bravo, you two are a power team.
People definitely should watch Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, Deadstream, and The Taking Of Deborah Logan. All found footage and you'll be bound to like one of them at least.
Every aspect of this video was phenomenal: the feat, subject and discussion (the mentioning of Lake Mungo) I only missed the poughkeepsie tapes in the list 😪⚰
I watched The Bay shortly after it came out when I was a child and it is to this day one of the scariest found footage movies I've ever seen. I'm 23 now and I'm still too scared of that specific kind of body horror to watch it again. God, what a freaky concept.
Should be on your list. Savageland and Exist. Really good found footage. Savageland does it in a documentary style way with photographs as the kind of found footage of the horror.
Really glad you guys are doing these horror recommendations for the month. Good taste all around. I'd say throw in Noroi: The Curse though, that one still scares the hell outta me to this day. Incantation definitely borrows quite a bit from it. Oh also, in regards to folk horror, go ahead and treat yourself to Kill List. Ben Wheatley has made a a lot of great movies, but that one is certainly among his absolute best.
I know this movie technically isn't a horror movie but it is a found footage movie and the suspension that builds throughout the runtime is incredible. I would highly recommend chronicle it is a found footage/ superhero mocumentary that slowly starts to feel more and more like a horror movie as it goes on and it's a really well written movie that shoes what would actually happen if random teenagers got superpowers in real life.
As above so Below should be an honorable mention on this list. Great found footage film. One of my favourite movies of all time and it seems like no one I talk to has ever seen it. Highly HIGHLY recommend.
Love this one. Trauma exploration and burning loss with some weird growth twist. Some of the sudden visceral moments with super abrupt body trauma is wild and really fucked me up the first time I saw this one
One thing I'd bring up is the OG 2008, "CLOVERFIELD" It's effective in making a kaiju horrifying and makes you feel so small and it's not just the people that are small but the Clover itself is a baby. I can't believe it went under the radar.
I love Rec and Creep! Will have to check out the ones I haven't seen for sure. Oh and lake Mungo is really creepy as well. A couple I would like to add that I like are: Hell House LLC and As above so below. Bonus movie: Deadstream. Which is more of a horror comedy I'd say that I didn't enjoy as much as some people but it has it's charms.
Absolutely ecstatic to see The Bay getting some love, among some of the others, because it's my favorite found footage movie. Just felt so so real when I first saw it.
Never heard of ANY of these. Never been into, or afraid of mainstream "horror" movies. Just watched Rec based on your recommendations. Wow. I knew you two wouldn't let me down. Hahaha. EDIT>>> just watched The Bay too, again, many thanks 👍 . Should be heading to bed , but decided to start Creep as well. Binge watching your recommendations 😁
Not a horror movie, but I will always love Chronicle, especially because they combine the premise with the found footage aspect to produce some really neat camera movements

The pyramid is a really good one
The crossover I didn't expect so soon but definitely needed
didnt they already do one :|
@@hurricanedude5090 yes, literally not even two weeks ago
They legit already did one so I was low key expecting
Lmao is that Richard Kruspe from Rammstein in your DP?
@@dylanmonstrum1538 yeah lol
“as above, so below” was definitely one of my favorite, so was “chronicle” absolutely amazing movie
Chronicles 1 of my top movies7
as above so below is incredibly good, also creep 2 is a masterpiece
@@jbrfr94 creep 1 may be better
As above so below is my fave horror movie ever
My mom had a medical emergency and I’m pretty medically adept the only thing that bothers me ironically is parasites and I had a flashback to the bay for a second I hesitated but then I was like nah no time for that
If you live in a larger city, you see people scream that way like every month. Very realistic, thus very unnerving
Movies like be my cat, are an actual form of horror in my opinion, making the viewer uncomfortable is a form of art
thanks for this appreciation!
Disgust and horror are two very different things. Both have their own value artistically, but they definitely aren’t the same thing.
you're here! That's awesome, and the movie really is a gem. Made me sick. Great job!@@AdrianTofei
@@Brigtzen thanks!
Hard same, it remains one of the only horror movies that has made me genuinely viscerally uncomfortable using sound alone
It was a good movie, I couldn't remember the name. Glad they covered it!
What what us with that dude being pregnant?
We can feel how excited Papa is for Halloween. -thx papa
@The Cat 🅥 what
The bay is so good!
Thanks dad for coming back with the milk
I really liked Trollhunter, it's a Norwegian fantasy film in the style of found footage. It doesn't take itself seriously too much, but there are aspects of genuine horror that keep you from laughing the whole thing off. It's just an overall fun movie, more people need to see it.
Trollhunter is way better than Lake Mungo or The Bay by a fucking mile.
Agree. Creep is great. One of the most uncomfortable horror movies for me that doesn't rely on excess like shock films eg: A Serbian Film.
So glad y'all did the work for me. Found footage is my favorite genre but an unfortunate grind to find a perfect flick
Meat's humor and Wendigoon's contagious laughter are a match made in Heaven
I really thought that Gonjiam Haunted Asylum was one of the scariest found footages I’ve ever seen. Incantation really got me interested because of the East Asian deities and mythology. It was an amazing film.
FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONS GONJIAM!!! that movie absolutely TERRIFIED me in high school and i truly was never the same

Thank youuuu
bless you! It would be so fun to have a film club kinda podcast, like if they set out a film we had to watch before they recorded the episode and then did a deep dive on it per ep. Or even several films so they can compare them in the ep.
Thank soo much
I gotta recommend Gonjiam Haunted Asylum! My personal favorite found footage film right now, it's a South Korean found footage film that follows a web blogging crew that go around seeing paranormal based areas, where they livestream everything and decide to check out a supposedly haunted, abandoned mental asylum!
Yessssss
me and sis looooove that movie
yes! I love this movie!! IT's basically Grave Encounters but good
Just that one last scene was creepy.
Noted! That's been pinging on my radar for a bit now.
Yes!!! Occult is also really good, by the same director!
The Tunnel (2011) is such an amazing mocumentary found footage movie I would recommend if you've never seen it. Hard to come by nowadays, but its a news crew that follows a story of missing homeless people in the sewers below Sydney Australia and what could be the cause of it and why the government is ignoring it
Literally about to say the same thing, took me a little bit to buy a DVD of it and couldn't find a Blu-ray
I watched this with friends a few years ago, it’s very underrated
The full movie is on YT for anyone who wants to check it.
It only has physical releases in Australia sadly. There are a handful of films I want a physical copy of like Tunnel and Empty Man.
Uhhh Australia, its giant sewer spiders, obviously
I love to see wendigoon blowing up so much this last year or so. The dude makes good content. He does a lot of iceberg videos which i normally don't care for, but i never miss an upload cuz i know it's gonna be interesting at the very least.
I LOVE hearing people talk about Leslie Vernon!! It's one of my all time faves and it's so underrated. So sad they were never able to make a sequel
That movie sounds a lot like Man Bites Dog. Maybe it was inspired by it?
same! behind the mask is such a good movie, leslie needs more love :)
@@NavaneethMB Yeah it's very much Man Bites Dog but with a slasher movie killer rather than a more conventional serial killer.
Omg yes I remember my bf showing me it and holy shit it was so GOOD!
not sure if this counts as found footage, but savageland is an absolute must see. it’s a mockumentary about a massacre that was believed to be the work of one guy, but the guys camera was later discovered and the photographs shows the monsters that actually did the killing. since the ”found footage” isn’t a video but rather a collection of photos it is debatable wether or not the film counts as being a found footage movie, but it’s still one of the most terrifying films of the past decade and is super underrated
Another one I enjoyed recently was Antrum.
The movie is shot in a very 70’s style as a sort of “mockumentary” with the entire film sorta going for the creepy pasta “this film killed people” thing- being a relic lost in time
The main premise is that a girl and her younger brother seek to dig a hole to hell to get their recently deceased dog.
The real “meat” of the film is still quite good
Yeah I really liked antrum
I'm going to recommend any of the found footage movies from Kōji Shiraishi. Noroi and Occult are some of my favorite Japanese found footage horror movies. The Senritsu Kaiki Files series from him have been great too most of them have been uploaded on TH-cam.
i love SO MUCH that Wendigoon is collabing with PapaMeat, its ridiculously fun
Lake Mungo will forever be special to me. I've never felt such dread and horror ever in a horror movie. I also watched it with my boys and it was a spectacle I'll never forget. Lake Mungo fans will NEVER forget the footage on the phone. It also was beautiful how real it legitimately felt.
Lake Mungo and Creep both made me so physically terrified. Very understated horror. So good.
I'm SO glad you mentioned "Behind the Mask". It's been one of my favourite films to re-visit since my buddy and I first rented the DVD back in the early 2000's while looking for bad horror films to watch. I rarely come across anyone else who has seen it. Hitting viewers with "Psycho Killer" in the end credits was nothing but the right choice XD
One really cool thing I think should be mentioned is that it's also set in a universe where all these slashers - Myers, Krueger, Voorhees etc.
The retired slasher killer was supposed to be Billy from Black Christmas! Which makes sense, who else would have been able to retire like that
@@bloodyneptune That's badass. I didn't ever even think about who his character was supposed to be.
So, about BE MY CAT
from the moment you show the guy and he starts speaking whit that broken english i instantly realized where Adrian is from, beinig a Romanian myself ive hear a lot of people speak english like that and i dont know why but whenever i see something related to romania on youtube i just love it
Same dude!!! It’s so fun
I would love a part 2 of this! Found footage is probably my favorite genre despite all the stinkers - so I’d love to find more gems!
this crossover is legendary please do more content with wendigoon, it is the most epic matchup of all time
I didn't know you had a channel with this type of content! Glad to have stumbled upon it unknowingly! A pleasant surprise!
Out of all people i wouldn't've expected these 2 to bounce off eachother so well
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Savageland! I think it takes a really unique approach on the found footage genre and I haven't seen anything like it. The suggestive horror is off the charts, especially the more religious elements near the middle of the mockumentary. I still close all my blinds at night because of it.
dude wendigoon has blossomed so much recently. really seems like people love him, they love talking to him, and including him in stuff lately.
These collabs with you two discussing horror movies are so great!
Wendigoon is awesome
I watched The Borderlands last night after seeing a video by Ryan Hollinger. I really enjoyed it. It's a slow burn but it doesn't feel like it because of Gray and Deacon's friendship. The ending is horrifying.
Sorgoi Prakov is imo of the most terrifying FFs, highly recommend it to anyone into these kinds of movies.
V/H/S 2 and V/H/S 94 are found footage must sees! VHS 99 is out in a few days and I am hyped, Hail Raatma.
94 is my favorite of the ones out
@@goobleron 2 is my favorite one for the last story
I love these type of films or movies. The immersion just sets in and you cant get away from it whether you want to or not
I love horror and am definitely going to checkout a few of these, it’s just a little hard being a woman whose nearly been kidnapped before, so movies relating to that are a little hard for me to watch as there is a real terror there(ex: tiktok recommended this “super scary found footage movie” with no context and I made the mistake of watching basically a girl get stuffed in a barrel).
Have you watched "V/H/S" ? If not I highly recommend it, 1 Is amazing 2 is good but they go down hill from there still good though 📼
@@ugsskywatchermckenzie4319 I did recently, and yes I did enjoy them very much. The new 94 and 99 were actually pretty good imo. Viral sucked though.
Awesome video MeatGoon! Lake Mungo and Behind the Mask are both fantastic lesser talked about found footage films! Really radl to see gems like those here! Y'alls chemistry is really great as well, hope to see you two collabing consistently!
Most random Austin Dickey appearance I've ever seen
First off, I love that you brought up The Borderlands, that movie was probably one of the best found footage I've ever seen! Second, it took me about 3 hours to finish this video because I had to stop and watch the ones I haven't seen. Bravo, you two are a power team.
Happy to see more people promoting found footage! There's lots of gems hidden within the miasma of the genre.
0:14 they switched mustaches
Leslie Vernon popped into my head while watching the first few recommendations and then pow, he brings it up. I feel special.
People definitely should watch Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, Deadstream, and The Taking Of Deborah Logan. All found footage and you'll be bound to like one of them at least.
Those are super good!!
Every aspect of this video was phenomenal: the feat, subject and discussion (the mentioning of Lake Mungo) I only missed the poughkeepsie tapes in the list 😪⚰
I thought for sure they'd bring it up.
@@mcgrihimgraham1725 part 3 is coming (it seems) maybe we will get it then
I watched The Bay shortly after it came out when I was a child and it is to this day one of the scariest found footage movies I've ever seen. I'm 23 now and I'm still too scared of that specific kind of body horror to watch it again. God, what a freaky concept.
Should be on your list. Savageland and Exist. Really good found footage. Savageland does it in a documentary style way with photographs as the kind of found footage of the horror.
Horror in the high desert is a really good mockumentary. For the first half hour I really thought I was just watching a documentary.
Chronicle is amazing. Reminded me a LOT of Akira, especially the ending.
I randomly came across Chronicle and i loved it from the moment i saw the body puppet fly off the roof.
Loved chronicle
I remember when it came out, it was pretty mainstreamed and advertised. Id be surprised if people didnt know about it at the time.
Try hardcore henry or project almanac, both not really horror but cool movies.
This list is genuinely S tier. No misplaced films. Kudos! The end of Border Lands haunts my life.
YES!! Behind the Mask is amazing! Nathan is awesome and they have been close several times on making a second. We really need more Leslie.
Oh man, this duo fits so well.
I'm loving these two interact. I can genuinely seen them hanging out watching obscure horror movies
Ok, now that would be epic!
IM SO FUCKING GLAD SOMEONE'S FINALLY TALKING ABOUT BAY HOLY SHITE
One thing I'd bring up is the OG 2008, "CLOVERFIELD" It's effective in making a kaiju horrifying and makes you feel so small and it's not just the people that are small but the Clover itself is a baby. I can't believe it went under the radar.
Behind the mask is so good and I'm glad its finally getting its name out there
Surprised Trollhunter was not mentioned... one of the best found footage in my opinion
Loved the Trollhunter! Being Norwegian myself I never found it scary though, probably due to the large amount of Norwegian comedians cast😅
Love that film but I wouldn't call it horror, personally
My friend thought the found footage show about mermaids was real proof
I felt bad explaining reality to him 😕
My heart goes out to the little fella ❤️
I love Rec and Creep! Will have to check out the ones I haven't seen for sure. Oh and lake Mungo is really creepy as well.
A couple I would like to add that I like are: Hell House LLC and As above so below.
Bonus movie: Deadstream. Which is more of a horror comedy I'd say that I didn't enjoy as much as some people but it has it's charms.
Absolutely ecstatic to see The Bay getting some love, among some of the others, because it's my favorite found footage movie. Just felt so so real when I first saw it.
You two seem to bond really well together. I love it. Very wholesome besides the dark fascinations. 😂
This was a good giggle
Never heard of ANY of these. Never been into, or afraid of mainstream "horror" movies. Just watched Rec based on your recommendations. Wow. I knew you two wouldn't let me down. Hahaha. EDIT>>> just watched The Bay too, again, many thanks 👍 . Should be heading to bed , but decided to start Creep as well. Binge watching your recommendations 😁
You know it’s a good review if Quarantine was thrown out in the first minute 😂
i love how Wendigoon is getting alot of attention he makes really good videos
"Noroi" (2005) still one of my favorite found footage horror. Its about spreading curse just like incantation but there's more depth in it
Great picks! I like that The Bay was included. I feel like that gets overlooked.
You guys should start a podcast
Wendigoon is the most deserving guy for all his success
8:32 IS THAT PAUL!?!?!?!??
Man, this is so good, i wish they had a podcast
oh boy you are in for some good news
Not a horror movie, but I will always love Chronicle, especially because they combine the premise with the found footage aspect to produce some really neat camera movements
I love both of these guys! Its a spooky season miracle!
