I work for a women’s clothing store so I have to wear their clothes to work. These items are not necessarily what I would shop for if I didn’t work there. When I get home I need to cook, clean, tidy and play with my large dog so I change into very casual wear. I hardly get to wear the clothes I buy that I love 😢
I LOVED this! My husband was listening in, and said, this sounds like she’s talking about you. He heard the whole video. My husband says : “Tell her this was Excellent EXCELLENT advice !” “ She is a VERY GOOD common-sense Stylist.” … I agree. This is a Perfect solution for my wardrobe problems! ♥️♥️♥️Bonnie
10/19/23-Update. Nada , I did FINALLY let go of almost all of my Academia styled clothing. I kept my Gray Zara blazer, my gray knit short sweater and matching knit cami, and my knit v-neck pullovers in navy and wine. ( you have seen all of these previously) // Since doing this reverse edit originally, I also, at last, decided to Not keep my ‘wish I had an opportunity to wear this’/ ‘what if I needed this to wear someday’/ in that Academia category. My Blazer and sweater set has been worn repeatedly with great joy, with blue flowy wide jeans or gray flare jeans…- to business casual events and dinners out to nice restaurants. They will also go with other Jean looks or my straight cotton skirts. It’s a Very Important Pleasantness (VIP intentional!) to be able to wear these on repeat, knowing they look well and are up to date. Thank you, Nada Manley, VIP.
You are so welcome!! it has worked for the hundreds of women who have tried it so far. I do have an ongoing guided version if you feel you need support. :) Nadamanley.com/Bootcamp
I love everything I have; it fits, is current, in perfect condition and good quality. There’s just too much of everything. I keep purging, but there’s still too much.
Interesting reverse edit idea! Over the years, I have yo-yoed in weight, so have clothes of various sizes. In a way, I have been doing your edit idea lately, I just didn't realize it. I am the heaviest I've ever been, and am wearing only the few clothes that fit. I do struggle with closet purging because I am a sewer. I can look at a garment and remember sewing it, perhaps what I struggled with getting it "right". I also have a fabric stash that I will probably never exhaust, especially since I'm still buying. I've been eyeing the smaller sized purchased garments thinking I'll bag them up as a start. But, when it comes to say a 20 year old cream with small flowers denim jacket with inside hidden pockets that I can't snap close, I'll still keep even if to remind me of the good work I can do. I'm new to your channel, please keep the videos coming! I have struggled for years to find a style which suits me yet is not too old lady looking, and now at 60, it is too easy to just give up.
Do not give up! This is the time in our lives when we discover our style. Many of my clients have multiple sizes in their closets and as long as you recognize that only one size as your current wardrobe can work but eventually it helps to take the items you’re not wearing out of the main closet or at least move them aside so that you can see your current wardrobe. So glad you found my channel and I hope you found this encouraging! Cheering you on!
wow! I was really meant to come across this video. I have clothes that I never wear and those that I didn't even know they were in my wardrobes(yes plural) in the first place. I have never come across the idea of reverse closet edit. I can feel a big donation to charity/good will shops coming on. I am sure that I will wear my yummy clothes more often doing this...and as another lady has put- I'm sure that my husband will be very pleased to see that I'm doing this. So thank you for this great suggestion...🏵🌹🌺
The reverse edit has been a game changer for me! Now I know what I need to fill in the gaps including some new jeans and cute workout clothes. Thank You Nada 🌺
This video has been VERY helpful for me. I've struggled making capsule wardrobes, but this closet edit was easy. I've been dressing from the closet I edited following this method for a couple weeks now. Love it! Almost everything goes together and the simpler wardrobe is working great for me, especially because almost all the items are ones that I like wearing a lot. Thanks so much Nada for heading me down this road. I look forward to doing this every 6-8 weeks, depending on the season.
Very motivating thank you. Hi from the UK. I gave up an office and customer-facing job early this year. I had a huge sort out as I no longer require so many clothes. In addition, I was a 'just-in-case' hoarder. Also that thing about having wasted money on an expensive item/impulse buy that is worn once. I think in today's society we are encouraged to buy more and more and there is the excitement of having something new even if you already have enough. A lot of TH-camrs proudly promote yet another 'HUGE haul' and I have stopped watching as I find it unpalatable now having mostly conquered my own weakness. Letting go has been therapeutic and much went to charity thus raising money for a great cause. I feel lighter in many ways and now with a more modest income and the cost of living crisis, it was good to have your reminder! I still have more work to do so I will try your method 🙂
@@donnadavis5544 I’m so glad! When we know that we are not wearing something, we are kind of just pretending that it’s part of our wardrobe when it’s really not.
Thank you thank you. I am a clothes collector. There will always be things I will hang onto. I know this about myself. BUT... there is a huge amount of items that aren't special BUT they are good that I have accumulated in the last few years that can be donated. I'm going to use today's method. I am 68, I love to dress. I lost my only child 18 months ago. I am ready to start to move forward some. Todays video is just the ticket !!! Thank you .❤️🧡💙
Thank you so much Nada! This Will help me a lot, because I accumulated really too many clothes! Now that I'm retired, I want to keep only the clothes that are right for me. Your vidéo is very encouraging !
I’m so glad! You are not alone! Just recognizing that you only wear a fraction of your clothes can liberate you from holding on to some of the old stuff! I appreciate the comment!
Been watching your videos and came across this one and wanted to cry. I don't think I have one item in my closet that I love 😢. I am going to have to look in there and I hope I can prove myself wrong.
I’m so sorry… since it’s impossible to throw away everything in your wardrobe ask yourself if there are items there that you don’t hate. Start building your wardrobe around those items. I am cheering you on! Let me know if you want to join in my next Boot Camp. I would love to have you in there so I can give you some guidance. Do not be discouraged! It is often easier to start from scratch than it is to have a ton of clothes to go through and be overwhelmed

I dress nicely for at home everyday, wearing my “good silk”, white clothes, etc. I don’t even have kids or pets (at the moment) and rarely do any grubby work (I have a set of comfy old “painting clothes” for that). I just wear an apron for cooking and eat and drink with care and I never ruin anything. I want the pleasure of wearing luxe fabrics all the the time and comfort is first priority. I don’t wear a bra, tight belt or my outdoor, mid-heeled shoes/boots while at home alone, though. If going out or expecting a guest, I just add those, easy.
Awesome advice! Thank you so much I am constantly rearranging my clothes and never happy with the results as I still end up keeping stuff I don’t wear😮this really sounds like a game changer.
