The Hindenburg actually flew over my home town in North west England before it boomed and my Great Grandpas earliest memory was looking at it when he was 4ish
It's actually kind of wild that this was one of the least severe airship crashes on record. It's surprising to learn that *some* passengers survived. It's completely bewildering how *most* of the passengers survived. Airships did, in fact, have a pretty impressive safety record, all things considered (I mean, they were massive balloons made of flammable gas). Although they weren't safer than modern commercial jet services, that's actually not saying much. Jet airliners are, by a wide margin, the safest form of mass transit in history. Had the Hindenburg crash occurred later in the history of a well established industry, airships might still exist as a niche luxury transportation market (although by this point, it's safe to say that they'd be using helium). The fact that it was a high profile, utterly horrifying fire at the dawn of both air travel and widespread access to film did the entire industry in, though.

Bush was a president of the US and he is still alive today but bin Laden was the guy who was the leader of the group that sabotaged the planes on 9/11 causing for plane crashes three into two buildings to hitting the twin towers in New York City (where it had to be rebuilt with only one being called world trade center one and is way more beautiful and a symbol of freedom and pride),the Pentagon in Virginia (I think) wedge was lucky repaired, and luckily one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania only 20 minutes away from Washington DC and some people think that it was heading to the Washington monument but most likely the White House but luckily we will never know for sure for those brave heroes in the Pentagon crash who sacrificed all of their lives to save many people! :)

The weather-proofing compound, or "doping compound" was extraordinarily flammable. So much so that some experts suggested this could have been the cause of the incredible speed of the spread of the fire rather than the hydrogen gas. Though that was not the case, and the hydrogen is indeed what primarily caused the explosion and fuel the fire, it is easy to see from the famous film footage of the explosion that the fabric burned at an incredible rate - almost like flash paper. The fabric was "inflammable." The word inflammable means - counterintuitively - FLAMMABLE, so a number of people have misinterpreted statements that the doping compound was inflammable to mean it was fire retardant, when in fact, it was highly flammable. That mistake seems to have been repeated here.
