  • In preparation for a (last minute) 16 day trip to Baja, Mexico; I attempt to build out the interior of the cruiser from scratch. Spoiler... I succeeded, but here is part one of the video series that will outline the build. This video highlights be beginnings building the bench side of the setup, which took the first two days!

building a floor on top of a floor is a useless duplication

haha really? the floor of a car is nowhere close to flat or even. Creating a flat, level, and durable floor to build onto is essential.

Just found your channel. Love the use of the bungee cord! Great idea.

I seriously thought my hand was toast with that router accident!

Nicely done. Currently building my own system. Mistakes happen, a good woodworker know how to hide them and you did a good job at that.

I may be answering my own question, but what made you decide on prefinished birch plywood? It's beautiful! I was just curious if there were specific reasons.

Looks and cost. The prefinished birch is imported and cheap, especially when compared to Baltic Birch. The Baltic stuff is wayyyyyy nicer but would be too pricey no more than I need for something I cover in carpet.

@@lacruiser80 makes sense! I am debating if I want to carpet the top of the leveling platform I will build or seal the wood. It will be used for sleeping so we would put a foam mattress and sheet over it. Removing it when we aren't camping.

@@daynegrenier410 I carpeted mine mainly so our dog has grip, and it’s easy to keep looking clean. Added bonus is we can Velcro cushions or dividers to the carpet to keep things in place!

@@lacruiser80 good point. Our Great Dane might do some work on wood haha. I was thinking the black aluminum extrusion with a nice finished wood would look great 😭
