    I’ve had the 7000x for years and was very impressed when first packing out, the build quality is phenomenal, yet very reasonably priced. I could never get them hot, even when playing extra loud at parties for extended time. They brought my B&W 700s to life with a little more detail, more punch, wider soundstage, and better dynamics.

    Good to see someone doing a review on the Outlaw Monoblocks. Wish more well known reviewers would make the leap. It would be interesting to see you compare them to lets say a 2k or 3k amp and see if you can even hear a difference.

      I can tell you that the 2220 has a higher noise floor than the 7000X. I own both and I bought the 2220 for the center channel, and was sad to find this. It’s still inaudible from my MLP though with my JBL 590s.

    I have an Outlaw 7000X for Atmos channels and a Monolith 5X for the bed layer. I believe I could easily exchange the two and not hear a difference. I did hear a difference when going from Anthem AVM 1120 internal amps to external amps. The Outlaw and Monolith delivered the power my 4 ohm MartinLogan’s craved.
    Having a review video from a trusted source would have saved me hours of research, reading, and angst about these products that one cannot simply go to a storefront and experience first hand. Thanks for what you do Michael and thanks to Outlaw (and Arendal) for sending you the review gear. -Paul

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you Paul. I agree with you. Most could not tell between amps in a blind A/B test. As long as an amp doesn't have a high noise floor or is isn't running out of gas during high volume and causing distortion, you likely won't hear much (if any) difference audibly.

    I have a few outlaw amps, the monblocks and the 7000x; both are awesome performers and great value. I keep planning to upgrade them but can't bring myself to because they do so well. The monoblocks I'm using for Atmos duties right now and the 7000x for a family room system, but anyone considering them - they are really high quality, including even the terminals - and they perform and pair beautifully! I'm using them with some Arendal monitors and the match is really, really good.

    I don't know if you remember, but I was kind of joking that when I got my new RP-1200SW set up in my small bedroom/HT that it would probably have to be set to "3", and you said, "What fun it that?." I got my 84# box from UPS yesterday, struggled to get it downstairs and set it up with Audyssey (Denon X4700H) with the sub, as instructed, set to "5". I kept on having to turn it down to get 75dB. I then proceeded to watch 1/2 of an old DVD I had of Das Boot, which really rumbled (I have to flip over the DVD to watch the 2nd 1/2) and then looked at the settings...the volume was set to "3"! I'll definitely experiment with higher settings (scared to try "11"), but so far I like what I hear, and sometimes feel (which was the whole point). I bet Apollo 13 , Hacksaw Ridge and others I have will sound just as good!

    Tekton makes a 6 x 10 Subwoofer for around $1,500. Yep, 6 - 10" subs ran in series, stacked to about 6 foot tall enclosure. I've also been checking out Rhythmic Subwoofers, and they seem to be some really good subs, from a company that only makes subwoofers (like REL). They even offer DIY kits to ave ya a few bucks. It would be interesting to see a review of the Tekton 6 x 10, and also a TRhythmic sub. They are pretty high end subs, entry level around $1000. But have patented tech and operate like the RSK Speedwoofer. Which is probably the best sub for the price right now. Their 12' sub has some serious SPL.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After seeing how the owner has harassed reviewers who have anything negative to say about his products, I do not have any desire to review Tekton products. Erin’s Audio Corner is dealing with it now and it’s ridiculous.

    • @Youthman

      Most people cannot tell a difference between amps in blind AB testing. Where they begin to differ is noise floor and if an amp runs out of gas at higher volume.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why would you expect that? 200 - 300 watts is incredibly small for a subwoofer amplifier. Most sub amps are minimum of 500 - 700 watts. The amps for my JTR Captivator RS2 subs are 4000 watts RMS.

      I can’t do that yet without placing them in the same room connected to the same equipment. A more even comparison would be the 1723 THX (not the smaller 1723 S THX) and the F200’s as they both have 8” drivers and similar cabinet sizes.

    @joes3800 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for this, Michael. If you're willing to go through the trouble, and since this is your first personal experience with monoblocks, you may want to try powering your front JTRs with 2220s and see if you notice a difference vs. the multi-channel Monolith amp. (I'm assuming you're using the Monolith, or are you still rocking an AVR like the Marantz 8015?)

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Joe, yes I’m still using my Monolith 11X to power everything so I’m getting 200 x 3 to my LCR. I’m not sure how much difference (if any) I would hear with the mono blocks due to the extreme sensitivity of the JTR’s and you have to double the wattage to gain 3dB in output. I would only be increasing the wattage by 50%.

    • @joes3800
      @joes3800 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Youthman Hi Michael. I honestly don't think you'd hear too much of a difference from the Monolith. But the advantage of the monoblocks is not just power, but also (and not just limited to) the absolute elimination of crosstalk (although I am not sure if there's that much crosstalk in the Monolith, but at least a tiny bit exists in any multi-channel amp.) My first experience with Outlaw was when I switched from a Pioneer AVR's amplification to using Outlaw monoblocks and I'll tell you that that was a very noticeable difference: more natural highs, lower noise-floor, better clarity/resolution, but most of all: better bass, i.e. fuller vocals (without bloat) and MUCH more authority in mid- and deeper-bass! My experience is why I made the suggestion. The Monolith should be of high enough quality where you might not notice any difference when you hook up the Outlaws, but let us know if you do notice a difference when you switch! Have fun with it, and so glad you have a chance to get more exposure for Outlaw. They deserve it!

      @@Youthman How do you control the volume.

    • @Youthman
