5:26 my sentiments exactly, was about to order the new Orbea Occam LT but noticed they switched to through headset cable routing 😕 so I will buy something else.
This is spot on guys! Thank you! I want external cables, easy repair, no rattle, not so long chainstays, long dropper 180-210mm not too much travel, because I like jumping fun and nice cornering. Weight about 15-16kg - because very light bike is less stable downhills. Oh I just forgot - I already have it - Kona Process 153 AL custom build :-D :-D
I think most bikes with long seat tube are the one that really need that length because the frame design forces a kink in the seat tube close to the upper link pivot. Then the straight section of the seat tube from that kink up has to have certain length to provide enough insertion depth for a dropper seatpost. If it was shorter then you couldn't install longer dropper anyway because they have longer insertion depths. I know this sucks but it is not that the manufacturer doesn't want to make it shorter. Moving the pivot placement would not work for their suspension idea.
I was wondering if PB was going to do something this season. Late it seems. But better late than... After watching this vid, however, it looks like there's just one bike out of the lot that I have interest in. Can't say I'm not disappointed. I suppose I shouldn't think of this next series as a 'buyers guide', considering the exotic tastes of the Pink Bike commentators. Those who have no budget for an Unno will have to look elsewhere to learn about that bike down at their LBS that they have their eye on. Let them eat cake.
I do my own maintenance and repairs so easy to work on and no proprietary parts is a huge thing. On proprietary parts it can make local availability a nightmare so end up with high shipping costs and delays for something simple
And the same question we've asked every year since 2021. Is this years crop actually better than the Specialized Enduro or Rocky Mountain Altitude haha.
I went 160/160 Lyric and Ultimate Air, Pedals great and still is pretty fun on calm trails. Feels Amazing at speed though, the silence it something I have never known. It's great.@@Tequila628
gearbox is a no brainer for enduro bikes, and needle bearings in the linkage would be nice, using things that are actually correctly designed for their use case yknow.
I’m 5’10” and ride a large bike. In have short legs so in like that the seat droppers are smaller as both I and an “average” person can use the same dropper - I can’t use a longer one that may suit leggier riders better.
Mines a 170mm. I’d prefer a shorter dropper to be the right height as opposed to a slammed taller dropper. I’m about to guess this is why the PB crew for 2024 expect shorter seat tubes.
I'm callin my 29 Devinci Kobain Hardtail a Hardtail Enduro these days, it can do everything except stupidly bumpy slower root sections that for me feel like having full sus wouldnt help at all. Its probably not quite as capable of huge drops due to lack of rear suspension, frame could snap if the landing is too flat but yeah, hardtail enduro wins the fun factor
Having raced quite a few regional enduros I find that from the race perspective the nuances of the bike matter way less than the fitness and skill of the rider. Especially around me, if the rider is fit, then they've already beat half the field. For the bike, it better pedal/pump well and it sure as hell better have a bottle cage.
Really good video but I notice always with this kid of topic I cannot follow along. I've been mountainbiking for years now, but to understand what all the geometry and suspension stuff really means in the field, one really needs to have tried out a lot of different bikes combined with a lot of technical preknowledge.
@@WasntMeMTB As a BMXer, I love it lol. It's funny how bikes with low slung top tubes were considered 'womens bikes' for so long. Because top tubes are lower than they were 10 years ago, no doubt.
@@WasntMeMTB I mean I was under the assumption it's still to provide structural rigidity to that part of the bike. Which may seem counterintuitive initially. Kind of a strange and useless comparison for most people really. PB has way too much love for the oddball boutique bikes lately. Test would be way more relevant with mainstream bikes, even if you've "tested" them before. A shootout is different than a solo test.
I've watched pros race enduros on 120 travel trail bikes and XC tires, and win. Outside of some enduros in the PNW or Europe or EDR level stuff, you can be competitive in most enduros on a trail bike. I raced my first one on a Ripmo and the bike did fine, my skills were another story haha
More choices between wheel sizes, not including the inbred mullet, 29 only and 27.5 only. Have both styles for both riders and moods.
