    Why not replace all weak blocks instead of all them and replace later only as necessary ? Thank you for your help

      False economics...

      Stevo yes that's what many battery refurbishment companies do.. and they will warranty the other blocks for a little time after. 6 months or a year but it's said they won't all soon fail because Toyota chose good manufacturers of the original cells.

    Could you check which cells are dead and replace it with refurbished ones.

    My 2012 Toyota Prius v hybrid battery just died a few weeks ago and I can confirm that yes, what you're seeing with him is the same thing that you'll see in the newer generations of Prius, not just the gen. 2. Usually when you do whole battery replacement you can have a verifiable warranty. There is alternatives that let you go by just cell blocks and replace just the bad cells. But the problem with replacing bad cells is your only patching a problem because you have other cells in the battery that are going weak and are going to drop out of spec and be too much of a voltage difference from the rest of the battery pack and it will trip the code again within the next 10 to 30,000, mi and you'll be back in doing a partial rebuild on your battery again. The company I called offers a full hybrid battery replacement, even 12 volt battery replacement with mobile installation and their base warranty starts off at 3 years unlimited mileage on their batteries the name of the company I went with is green bean batteries they're fairly easy to look up on Google The symptoms that we're seeing where the battery was taking charge and holding charge with the gasoline engine running is the symptoms of the modules just being out of balance with each other and there's no real good way to fix that. You could do a patchwork job on that by taking the risk of taking the battery out of the car and then taking the battery apart and watching videos on TH-cam about how to charge your hybrid battery using a 12 volt battery charger and basically with that would do is bring all of your battery modules back into balance with each other, but that is also a very time consuming task as well in order to do it in a timely fashion you would need for a Toyota Prius 14, 12 volt battery chargers another thing that happens when the battery control module has a failure is the car will be driving along just fine and either the check engine light will come on and the battery will go from 3/4 of a state of charge to a quarter state of charge indicated or in my case with the bad battery that was put in my car initially with the bad battery control module. What would happen is is initially when you would drive the car down to the point where it would go into generator mode. Needing to go into generator mode would trigger the P0A80 code to come on and then the battery would stay at 2 out of eight bars of charge or a quarter charge so if the battery takes charge and holds charge at 5/8 or even 6/8, you have modules that are out of balance with each other? And the voltage difference between the healthiest module and the unhealthiest module is just too great triggering the replace hybrid battery code, some cars run normal. It's just the gas engine runs all the time and they don't have as much power as they used to and they get worse fuel economy. In my 2012 Prius v my car wants the code was tripped. Would sometimes run normal but with a lack of power and other times not sometimes you would push the accelerator and it would just take off an accelerate gently and slowly other times it would stutter and hesitate as if the transmission was slipping because the 12 volt battery had failed and it did not matter whether it was modules that were out of balance with each other or a bad battery control module. My gen 3 Prius was hesitating and bucking just because the POA 80 code was set and made the check engine light. Come on my car was 11 years old with just over 400,000 mi on it when the factory hybrid battery failed.

    Is there anyway to tell the MFD number for a 05 Prius without pulling it out?

    I see all these Prius for sale 10-20 years old batteries never replaced and yet sellers and dealers saying batteries good shape. Shameful. All these batteries need replacement to work like new again. Don't be fooled and offer a price to cover some of the cost.

    $2,200 for an oem hybrid battery that's actually cheap. 😮 i though they were between $3,000 to $3,500.

      You can get a decent one reman for less than 900 installed now. You know actual price is usually 75% less than any dealer quote

      @@gr2262 that's a good price. If I can get one from the dealer at 2,200 I'm all for it. I know green bean has around 1,500 or 1,700 but is just a matter of time to fail.

      Extremely cheap, extremely reliable. I bought one with a bad battery for $700 runs great

    • @jazamaraz8029
      @jazamaraz8029 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one has extremely low mileage. With a new hybrid battery in it, the owner is likely to get more than 200,000 additional miles out of it.

      This 2nd gen prius is by far one of the best cars I've ever owned. It's super smooth, reliable, and low maintenance.
