- Vintage watch collecting is high risk, high reward. I review a 1970 vintage Wakmann chronograph and talk about the history behind the Russian immigrant and the American watch company he created.
This Reverse panda chrono shares a case with Breitling, a dial from the maker of the Paul Newman Daytona and a movement with the Speedmaster.
This obscure brand had an illustrious history in the post WWII era, and though Wakmann never manufactured their own watches, they built and assembled wonderful, iconic high-quality chronographs between the 1940s and 1970s.

I just bought a 37mm gold-plated triple date wakkman chronograph from 1974. I really like it and I wear it on a black strap as a dress watch, I like wearing extremely complicated vintage piece of the dress watch rather than wearing something boring with a more known brand on dail
I bought a serviced wakmann chronograph and a seiko 6105 8110 used at Ron's timex service in orlando in the 80"s when I was a kid . Still have them both
Very interesting commentary. I have two Wakmann, the triple date and the regate. Like you, I had never heard of the Wakmann brand and I was very lucky to have stumbled upon it.
I have one of the last Big Boys made, circa 1968. It is gorgeous white, blue and orange.!!!

I have the very same watch! I found your great video after searching it up online as I am going to sell it. My band is different but yours really mates with the case very well and improves the look of the watch.

Thanks for this video! I just purchased the very same Wakmann and I'm wondering where you found your bracelet? I'd love to put a Jubilee or Oyster style bracelet on this one but I'm worried about finding one where the end links fit correctly. I'd rather not use a straight end link if I can avoid it. Thanks
Oh boy, this has led me down the rabbit hole. The Breitling 592 is virtually the same as the Wakmann 1435. Color me intrigued.
