I first got introduced to Paul in the DVD 'learn to skateboard' by 411VM when I was like 10. 30 now and it's so cool hes still the industry's leading expert on this.
Paul is super straight and studious but my friends and I got him wasted to the point of having to drive him back to his hotel from the greatest skate weekend I ever had. My good friend Byron Kothe won an NSA Amateur contest for the regional events in Indiana in the 80s in Fort Wayne. Schmitt Stix just sponsored Byron and we got to hang out with Paul all weekend and went to an indoor barn ramp party after the regular contest. Paul had some of the coolest merch on him as he floated Byron some metal core wheels call Schmitt Radials. I acquired a set from Byron eventually. We loved Schmitt Stix in our neck of the woods growing up and Paul is a great easy going who I was honored to have met.
My first pro board as a kid in the 80’s was a Schmitt stick Lucero x2. Then I got the New Deal Ed Templeton with the dog( just like they show for a second here). He’s putting a “slick” coating on the boards to make them slide better but I remember something like that in the early 90’s. You could get most boards with it. Like an extra thick clear coat on the bottom. Think it was called “ever slick” or something like that. Anyone remember that???
Slick bottoms were huge for a few years - I think EverSlick was Santa Cruz's brand of it, but I had more than a few of them, including my all time favorite, the World Industries Randy Colvin "Colvinetics" slick.
My high-school wood shops teacher in the early 2000s made us a steam box with a jig he copied from someone's board so we could laminate our own Maple plys, steam them, clamp them to his jig and then make our own blank decks! It was pretty awesome to have free decks when you were a poor high school kid lol
@@maxpressure6780 listen don't put yourself out financially if you can't afford it but when you got it and can help a homie in need its an awesome thing. You for sure will be a spot legend tho on these hot days
@@DabbaHashery Its only like $10 for a case of bottle water. Im not rich, but maybe i can drop some off on hot days. Im an old school skater so i get it. What else does the modern skater need?
Cmon roger. U got that trick. When y’all gonna make a vid crushing Venice. Doesn’t have to be serious. Lol. With the other curb heads. York, bev, everyone.
I'm not talking crap but...I thought it was gonna lead up to roger being able to land the trick cause of all the science behind the board and he still couldn't land it? Was his board actually better than what you where working with before??? Much love and respect goes out to the nine club and Roger. P.s hope you get to land your trick my man cause it would be sick.
Every board is meant to be ridden.
You’re right there Professor Schmitt

Someone should design and sell glasses frames made out of broken skateboards! I would buy a pair for the sun and not reading!
