When I was a kid I rode my bike to toys r us and found Slash before I even knew he existed, and he had the purple belt. I never knew about the variant till a few years ago...
Slash was the "Bizarro" turtle for me! Maybe it the backwards S and twisted weapons. Like "PowerTurtleBusters Figure Reviews" I always loved how Playmates gave you just enough information for you to create your own lore, and kick your imagination into overdrive. I see Shredder putting this poor pre-mutated guy through the ringer. Thanks again for another amazing video!
Yea Archie Slash will always be the best version for me. I forgot how silly looking the Fred Wolf version was until I re-watched the series a few years ago and was like this is not how I remember him looking. The Playmate's version I think is nice because he kind of taked elements from both
Thanks for the review. Just picked up Donny on sale, really need flash for the TMNT Turtles in Time nostalgia. Looks like I'll need to paint a few areas
Nice review, but I was always and still am partial to the cartoon Slash. Followed closely by the Archie Slash. I think I'll pass on Super7 Slash... even though he's currently just $20 on BBTS. I have cartoon and Archie Slash, so I'm good. But your review helped me decide. So thanks!
I wish they could have used one of those Bead Chains for his Nunchucks. Make some unique dull spikey ones, so the Nunchucks still look very accurate, and can actually twirl. Though Honestly If I got this Fogure I'd probably have him hold the Kanabō. Partially cause I love the 2012 Slash. And Him using a Kanabō just feels the most accurate. The Kanabō is a Club carried by Samurai, it is considered a Very Dishonorable Weapon and is used to end an Enemy that isn't worthy of an Honorable Death. Or in this case, Slash carries it because he has no Honor. And doesn't care about being Honorable. It's also a weapon commonly carried by Japanese Oni demons....somthing Slash bares a resemblance to.
I love Panda Khan, he and Triceraton were easily my favorites from 1990. Now we just need King Lionheart and Walkabout and Hothead. I am so happy with Scratch and Slash. I'm probably not going to ever get the core Super7 characters despite the recent sales- it's way too expensive to collect two turtles lines and I don't have a giant collection room to just not keep them in storage, so I'll stick to one of each character design.
Ok so about the 2012 figure being to small they did fix that with the mix and mash figure and he was up to scale but idk if you want to count that as a main line figure
I didn’t know about that figure until now. He looks way better. I’d count him in the main line since he still matches the same style. Keep him 100% Slash and I think most people would prefer him.
6:00 when he finally opens the box Edit: The problem with tighter hips is they become too stiff like NECA and you have to bust out the blow dryer just to move them. The simple solution was holes for stands in the feet and/or crotch. Then you could do any pose with little trouble.
Cool review, are you planning on getting the glow in the dark turtle figures? One of the biggest problems in super 7 here is the loose joints and all and yeah I do agree, but it does not make a figure s dealbreaker if you like it. The design and detail in this slash is just freaking amazing. And it never ceases to amaze me every day of how autumn and super seven takes these old playmates toys and remakes them into something marvelous and unique. I especially like the dark shade of green on super 7 Slash.
Sorry for not replying! I got three of the gid turtles. Don and Leo from super7 and I just ordered Raph this week from bbts. If Mikey’s still there in a few weeks I’ll get him too. I also ordered the gid slash!
Huh Wish still had my 1990 one may have been worth somethin as a misprint as its eyepatch was white not yellow and only came with the mace and crooked dagger not the barbed sword or trench knife or nunchakus. Coulda been worth a buck or two if hadnt been a kid and played with it all the time before the little brother destroyed it along with most of my collectibles over the years.
Agreed! Nothing beats Playmates from 88-92. My top super7 figure may be Muckman but it’s a hard pick. Bebop really impressed me and this Slash is great too. I still haven’t opened up half of wave 5 or 6 yet since I’m so slow with my reviews, but I’ve heard a lot of gods stuff about scratch. Krang could have been a top favorite for me, but his walkers legs really drag down the way I feel about him.
@@ioncewasmikey I didn’t have too many of them, but I’ve been picking them up if I see them second hand. I actually bought the majority of them for my son and he loved them. He use to play with them a lot and me and him use to watch the show together all the time. Usually if I use a 2012 figure in my reviews I’m using one of his toys.
@Raz Rentals That's cool! I liked that it had such a huge roster of characters. It was interesting seeing updated versions of the guys I remembered from childhood along with some new mutants & takes on the Turtles. There are still a few I need to track down... I have all those carded still 😅
The Super 7 Ultimates Slash is an awesome figure. I do not like the black/pink belt. Pick a lane. I had the first release Slash with the black belt and I would have preferred that I actually prefer the alt head. It envinces more intelligence and cunning. I like the more subdued grin. I do not like that the stars are hard to push onto the belt. I always thought those things on the back of Slash's belt were candy bars. They look like calculators but then you realize Slash is too dumb to use a calculator. And calculators are for nerds. They're totally candy bars.
The belt is probably my least favorite thing about him... probably straight black with a yellow "S" would have been preferable. Maybe if they gave all the pink a black wash, on his belt, shoulders, etc it'd blend better. Edit- dang, and the belt doesn't come off.
Tf going on with these toy companies? From power rangers to s7 all have loose joints. Especially in the legs. They themselves caused me to stop buying stuff. And playmates back when they were good figures all had a story to tell with the extra details. Slash calculators and all, as if he was made by scientists on dimension x, or was a scientists unlike the cartoon that basically goofed every character lol
I like your thinking about Slash. That was some of the great fun about all those crazy details. You got to imagine what all of them were. Which company is putting out the Power Rangers with loose joints? Super7?
Sad thing is it's way more than Super 7, I had a large collection of Hasbro GIJO Classified and lots of them had loose legs etc. It really has become an issue for most lines, although I don't do Marvel Legends so can't speak to that one.
I could never tell what those things on the back of Slash' s belt was as a kid. I thought they could be caclulators but then I knew Slash couldn't use a caclulator so then I just assumed they were candy bars.

Same here haha
45:46 that rant was so funny, especially that conclusion ;D
well i prefer both so I couldn't resist . Thank you for the side by side comparison !
I prefer to try to buy every Slash figure haha.
Another excellent in depth review! Really ecited for the forthcoming 1990 and SOTO Neca TMNT comparison video too. Keep up the amazing work, Gary!
Thanks! Glad to see you always stopping by!

Thanks for watching! I hope you can find Slash for a good price. Some of these Ultimates go for a lot less than retail on amazon.

Panda khan would be great! Hopefully they can get the rights to make him! Hothead is another I’m dying to get!
All those slashes!
Cool slash figure he's a badass isn't this the one from the TMNT Turtles In Time game?

Gotta love the poetic alliteration.
Hey how you doing do you think Super 7 will ever make their own version of Tokka

The level 7 slash kick ass
Definitely!
I already put this comments on your other post but, is there any way to get more info on this whole playmates controversy?

How about this for the psycho sword... The Psychatana!
That’s an awesome name! I like that a lot!
Hey I have no idea if you know this but they actually re released the 2012 playmates one with way longer legs and it looks a lot better

Some of them. I’ve been lucky with a lot of mine but I’ve seen people posting problems.

I think a lot of the problems come from cheaper plastics. The companies want to charge us a "premium" price, but are cutting corners.
