A faction of political separatists, led by Count Dooku, attempts to assassinate her. There are not enough Jedi to defend the Republic against the threat, so Chancellor Palpatine enlists the aid of Jango Fett, who promises that his army of clones will handle the situation. Count Dooku aka Darth Tyranus was doing the electricity powers 0:33 0:47 before he starts the lightsaber duel 0:56 to Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Count okay doke
EPIC fun fact: it was Christopher Lee’s idea to have Dooku’s hilt be curved. Lee had experience in fencing, and most fencing hilts are curved :)
I’m going to assume everything I like about Dooku is because of Lee
It was more cause he hated the regular hilts and struggled to hold them since he was used to wielding British rapiers which have curved hilts. Rather than go through more training to properly hold a lightsaber, he personally requested his hilt be curved so he could wield it better
Actually, the more rapier-like lightsaber is, the more difficult you will manage to fight with it if you try to hold it as regular two-handed sword
It’s looks dope as fuck too
I assumed it was a nod to his count Dracula character he played.
" no anakin no!" Pretty much sums up the prequel trilogy.

Dooku saber ignition sound is top-tier
And with the crimson blade, Dooku reveals just how far he's fallen: as far from who the Jedi thought he was as possible.

Dooku's makashi form is weak against Anakin's Djem So, that's why he fought more seriously, but Dooku won because of years Of experiencing Lightsaber Duels and Anakin is just a Padawan.
That smile says "I'm in control".
Honestly kind of insane at this point that obi wan and anakin even tried to fight him considering he’s essentially one the best Jedi masters now full of the dark side strength. Also you could tell he didn’t want to outright kill them those shots to obi wan were very much meant to disarm him and take him out of the fight while anakin I think he was surprised that a padawan even lasted as long as he did and when he had enough of anakins shit he took his arm to keep him from trying to jump back in again.
Hehe disarmed...
He looked pretty ready to finish Kenobi off before Anakin jumps in
@@chronica6457 they have foresight it was probably a bait
They was 100% in over they head but amazingly enough Obi wan does better here then in revenge of the sith
it's part of sidous's plan. go easy on anakin and keep obi wan alive (to better train anakin through combat). then disarm anakin to add to the future pain (limbs are always replaceable)
Watching this in the movie theaters was just on
another level. Specially when Anakin cuts the cable and they fight in the dark at 2:30... The blue (good) and the red (evil) sabers dueling and dancing it was just amazing.

I love how tired Dooku looks after defeating Anakin
I don't think it was tiredness more like feeling sad that he had cut off his arm? Remorse
I think it was more condescending disappointment, like how he talked to Kenobi. _"Sigh,_ Was that pathetic display really the *best* the Jedi can do?" is what I'd imagine him saying
@@rezi_le_raehe wasn’t tired. He didn’t want to fight them because obi wan was qui gons apprentice and anakin was his.

No kidding. The dude just stands there for 0 reason. Kinda a weak ending to the fight.
@@TheRealFoopit made no sense to me in theatres but if you play battlefront dooku has a force power that slows his competitors in a duel and he’s even faster
Christopher Lee always played an epic villain

Saruman from Lord of the Rings, the evil guy who was in KH2, the guy who wore a red mask, and a dark cloak, and Wilbur Wonka the dentist, from that 2005 Tim Burton film of Charlie and the Chock Factory.

@@jakubjarczyk2745 Also, don't forget one of his most notable villain roles as Lord Summerisle in The Wicker Man (1973).
Dooku actually had some regret when he cut off Anakins arm
He basically took off some of his potential because he cut his arm off when he was just a padawan and lose midi-chlorians
I think it was more a sigh of relief as that fight in the dark revealed that Anakin was far stronger than he initially thought and that he could have been potentially killed by Anakin. So for him to have cut Anakin's arm off suddenly was a relief, as he felt that for moments there, he was in danger
That’s not now hit works. Midichlorians are based on the number per cell, not number of cells. If that weren’t the case, wouldn’t Yoda be one of the weakest Jedi because of how small he is? Or is he just really dense 🤣
@@zephyr1331 I think in star wars canon theres actually confusion on whether or not dismemberment weakens someones connection with the force, since darth vader thought he was weakened massively due to his loss of limbs against obi wan, however palpatine thought it was a mental barrier and that losing limbs doesn't actually hinder you or something like that, so who knows if it actually has any impact or not.
@@taimu4624tbf Vader liked to blame obi wan for everything even when it was normally his fault, I feel like this is prolly the same
At 2:18 I always focused on how Anakin was attacking with the two sabers but never realized how quickly Dooku was countering his attacks. Truly might be the best duelist in history but lost in Ep3 due to his age.
Not only his age. There were some technicalities involved in their duel in ep3, mostly related to their lightsaber's forms. These technicalities wouldn't have been a problem if dum asf Dooku didn't decided to train Skywalker throughout the entire fresitas ng Clone Wars.
Dooku didn't lose to age. It was actually Sidiou's plan to let Anakin win so he could be pushed further into the dark side. He told Dooku to go easy on Anakin but got so overconfident. At the beginning of the fight, he destroyed both Anakin and Obi-Wan. In the end, he got Anakin to use his anger and hatred, the reason why Sidious wanted to see Anakin use his anger was to see if Anakin had grown powerful enough to become his apprentice. Which he was, Sidious had no intention of keeping Dooku beside him. All of Dooku's works and achievements were just thrown away, he was just merely being used as a puppet.

Way before Disney's Star Wars and The Clone Wars, this was the only movie that ever had dual wielding Lightsabers
There was the 2003 CW micro series, and the entire EU.

I originally perceived this as the worst lightsaber duel in SW but after the Rise of Skywalker this fight is not too bad…

This fight is BETTER Than the whole Disney Trilogy combined
People don’t like this fight? I was never aware. I’ve always loved it.
The sound affect of Anakin firing up that 2nd light Saber at 2:18 is so cool.
The original Luke Skywalker Return of the Jedi Sound
Christopher Lee was so charismatic with his words and voice and so elegant with his old man light saber style.
I’ve seen this movie a million times and only just now noticed the clone that steps off the gunship at 0:11 gets shot off the platform
The fight scene between anakin and dooku always gives me chills. So good.
Notice when Dooku is dueling Obi Wan he is chill and smiling but when he’s dueling Anakin he actually gets driven back initially by Anakin and as a result is intensely more focused
I think they missed an opportunity to make the green lightsaber in this to be Qui-Gon’s. And Dooku destroying it could’ve symbolized how far Dooku has fallen and/or Anakin’s path has been written.
Also, I think it would’ve been a smart tactic for Anakin to stall Dooku by askin him about Qui-Gon and they could’ve connected with that and made their rivalry more complex. I feel that since Qui-Gon was pretty much a father figure to Anakin, Dooku could’ve served as a grandfather figure to Anakin.
Sometimes I feel like Obi-Wan had better moves as a Padawan.
It is canon that the only reason he beat Maul was because he used a little bit of the dark side anger after seeing his master get killed
@@masterbuilderproductions Yeah, I could see that, but he seemed more agile and had a greater variety of strikes. Maybe it was because he switched forms.
Hmm fight against Anakin in episode III says hi
@@ooperblownup What moves did he have?

I remembered as a kid, seeing Anakin with two different colored lightsabers was the coolest thing, even beating Maul's lightsaber. To this day, I still love dual wielding weapons and would use them in RPGs and the latest, Baldur's Gate 3.
The way Dooku parries those double sword attacks is just so elegant.
This fight is actually just to represent the skill gap between dooku and them. Thats why the fight is so fast…
One thing u don’t realise because of the lack of context behind dooku in the movie is his temporary reaction to when anakins arm goes he respected his will after he tried to save his master and had fight in him
this is one of the most unique fight scenes in star wars and its the only time in the lucas films that light sabers actually provide illumination. It's over quick though. I wish they had made it longer

It's Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen vs. Christopher Lee.
Do you know the concept of acting and fiction?
@@31redorange08 It's a joke. Why are you asking me that?
The only things wrong with this duel are how short it is and how Anakin just stands still as Dooku cuts his arm off
Nothing wrong with it being short given this is anakins first real fight against dooku who is considered the master of offense and arguably one of the best duelist.
And why wouldn’t he just stand there. The saber cut his arm clean off.
right
@LexusTX maybe saying that the shortness is something wrong with the duel is the wrong choice of words. I meant it would be better if it was longer. What I mean by Anakin standing still is that he has almost no reaction to Dooku's movements as he's about to cut his arm off. He moves so slowly and doesn't even try to block Dooku's lightsaber

The perfect counterattack against the chosen one: Lightning and taking off a hand
2:27 this part is so well made, I like the idea of Anakin cutting the light cable and then seeing everything dark and obi wan on the floor not knowing if his padawan will be able to win on his own. 2:38 if they zoomed it out more and they used better sound effects when the lightsabers strike, I think it woulve been much better, especially on theaters. 0:34 that force lightning ⚡️ is much worse than the force choke.
Anakin's lightsaber should've easily deflected that,
to be honest. He should've thought of that first before he began charging after Count Dooku like a bull hopped on coffee. But I guess that's the price
someone has to pay for being impatient.
1:15 *SURELY YOU COULD DO BETTER!* 😂
I can do better. And don't call me Shirley!
Nothing screams good fight like close up of faceses with lights waving around.
What made Dooku such a dangerous fighter to face was because while the rest of the Jedi were so arrogant that the sith were defeated and pretty much ignored Form 2 of lightsaber wielding which is all about duelling another lightsaber wielding combatant, Dooku knew the sith were still somewhere so he kept practicing the style until he mastered it so well he was one of the best fighters of the Jedi order which along with his great levels of force powers made him one the strongest Jedi around and this was all before he turned to the dark side and started using Juyo and dark force powers
2:11 Got to give Obi wan credit for not giving up. I always liked how he assisted Anakin here.
@1:16 surely you can do better Christopher lee deliver that line perfect
Defeating Obi Wan and the chosen one in a 1 vs 2 and then maintaining an even fight with Yoda, managing to escape and accomplish all his objectives is the greatest achievement I have seen in the entire saga.
Anakin wielding two lightsabers was so cool... shame it was only for a few seconds.
Underrated duel
Idk why But the Close up shots of Anakin and Dooku fighting look really cool in my opinion
I think the look on dookus face after chopping off anakins arm is that he massively underestimated anakin
“As you can see my Jedi powers are far beyond yours.” Said Dooku while clearly using sith powers.
Dooku is so clever with lightsaber battles he quickly figures out ways to injure fast his opponents
That arm loss was funny.

Anakin Skywalker fits good with blue Obi-Wan Kenobi fits good with Green
2:37-2:48 love how Anakin & Dooku's blades switch off in the darkness, making it unclear who's wielding which blade. It's like a visual metaphor for the similarities between the fallen Jedi (Dooku) and his eventual successor (Anakin).
