I work at a bank and I love these kinds of videos so I can stay aware and catch scams before they happen with my customers. Thank you Ben!
Banks are uniquely in position to stop scams. However, it seems too often banks automatically process funds out of and into customer accounts without checking with the customer to determine the reason. Banks should have customer care employees who are versed in money scams and who can reach out to customers to discuss whether they are victims and inform them of how money scams work. Obviously, due to the enormous amount of money being stolen by thieves right out of people's accounts, people are not savvy enough to spot criminals. Additionally, there should be a firewall against thieves for each account. I cannot even access my account online until I authorize the bank call me to give me an additional code, beyond my password. Everyone should have at least that insurance of a code delivered directly to the customer each time they access the account online.

I work in finance and... the level of financial scams is disgusting. It's constant and every day. Hoping to work my way into the financial crimes department one days because it's relentless and I've had family members who fell victim. It's everyday and nonstop.

Out of 20 Nigerians in Lagos 19 are scammers, I am Nigerian and this saddens me.
I'm glad I don't have to worry about my grandma scam wise, her mental state has been deteriorating these last few months but our family members are over there all the time so if she had to go to a bank or transfer money they'd hear about it since they drive them places.

Yes, it is the best when family member are honest, sometimes they can be scammers too.
You are one of the very few baiters who deal with these email scammers that I am aware of.
The only other one I know of is Atomic Shrimp...he trolls them for fun, and it's hilarious.
The writing 'style' here is exactly the same as other email scam attempts I have seen.
You go much further, tracking them down, talking on the phone to play with them...reporting as appropriate....and the final ba-da-boom!. Loved it.

Ben, thank you for exposing those scammers. They are scrupulous. Sometimes, when I'm bored, I reply to such emails. One scammer tried to convince me that a considerable amount of money had been transferred to my (fictious) account. The transfer was signed by Meghan Markle! Then, I was told that the amount was invisible on my account until I had paid a "fee". So, I sent them a fake transfer receipt signed by Harry of Sussex.

I've been so well drilled at this point that whenever Ben showed a form asking for details my brain immediately added "you know, the kind you should never share with a stranger on the internet"

I laughed so hard. I had a letter that was sent to my deceased mother stating she had been left a inheritance from a person in Asia. I knew darn good and well it was a scam. I kept it and LMBO every time I see it. I also turned the scammer into the police.

This is why I have nothing but pure red hatred for scammers. Their victim could be dying and they still wouldn't care and would take their money anyway.
In countries with free health insurance that would be the best person to be the victim. I guess who will suffer the outcome of the scam the most depends on country.
That is awful, but I kind of feel bad for the scammer too, what a horrible existence. Often they're scamming because they're just stupid and lack the capacity to think about other people.

I've seen something similar to the whole 'same bank layout' before: after I got a traffic ticket, I had to do an online course and surprisingly a LOT of the site the Department of Transportation had offered had identical site and even addresses.

True, I got a call from India today. Apparently I created a trading account on some random ass company’s website two days ago at 6 pm. I had some fun with them, I kept asking why I hadn’t received a confirmation email lol.
Not really. Most younger people don't fall for this stuff. It's primarily an old person thing. The scammers will be mostly out of a group to scam in about 10 years. That's if they keep trying this lame scam

That's why these scams are so scary. The smartest people still have moments of stupidity. Smart people still sometimes wake up early and miss something because of lack of sleep. Smart people get sick and are out of it because of it.

I love your videos. You and Pierogi are the best because you lead them on, mess with them and get results but your shows aren't a series of swearing or beeps. Love Triolgy but I ride city buses and hear "m-fer" a thousand times and then there's the guy who just swears back like a 9 year old who just learned a new word... "You're a benchode, YOU'RE a benchode, no YOU are, uh-uh, YOU are..." So it's great to have actual entertainment while you're doing your job. (BTW, was Eileen a little old lady or the woman on the ID?)

On multiple sites I have my age about 10 years older than what I actually am. I'm 70 and I get a lot of individuals trying to scam me. If I'm bored, I play the game, and I follow your script, except I don't use the tools, which is actually quite fun.

While I don’t work with scammers like this; I work for a phone company that constantly has people calling up trying to set up contracts in other peoples names, it has gotten to the point that I can spot them straight away because it always seems to be the same few people
You have to take a look at the package delivery scam. Looks like USPS is trying to deliver and they want you to pay a delivery fee.
I almost fell for one of those. I got mad I had to pay for something I didn't know I was getting and stopped there. Later I found out it was a scam. Also, the "tracking number" wasn't even a USPS tracking number. Still have no idea why I disregarded that bit of info.
I second this. I almost fell for it myself as I was expecting a package from USPS at the time, so I thought the message was about my recent order. Luckily I realized it was fake before I started giving them my info.
I fell for it and had to cancel my card
I've seen those emails, too, but I know the USPS in my area seems to take great delight in returning my packages to sender without giving me any warning or notice of any kind. They make no attempt to reach out to me, so I instantly know those emails are all fake.

These scammers always have two first names and no surname lol
its often due to how naming systems vary between cultures. most non western it is just a personal name or family name then personal name. so when they try to fake a western name they pick names from a baby name book and are too lazy to look up a family name database

Depending with the URL providers, it might be against their TOS to do stuff like that. So that means we can mass report the URLs to the providers and they might get shutdown
Sadly, this is just a slap on the wrist for them. They make way too much money. They'll just open new accounts. Buying new licenses is just a mild inconvenience to them.
Scammers will do anything to convince their victim you always have to think ahead of them.

I always enjoy your videos. While I feel I know enough to stay away from scammers I worry for my family as they are not as computer savy.
I forwarded this to my elderly father before reaching the end of the video (when you asked us to share it with others). I truly wish this is something you did on a for-hire basis. I clicked on this video because I have a bad feeling (I don’t have details) that it was a scam like this that he was duped by. To hear it described it’s such an obvious scam, but somehow he continued to go along with it. And this man has two PhD’s.
seriously, they need to make a tv show that shows situations like this. There are so many scams out there, and not everyone watches TH-cam.

I'm always perplexed by the amount of bank or courier emails I get where the subject line contains a half dozen emojis. Because yaknow, 3 blue lovehearts and 3 sunglasses emojis definitely makes it look like an official UPS notification of a pending package...
