Working great. Stuck a retro bottom drain on the end of that hosetail n that will collect the rest of that pooh where it collects 👍🐟

Looks good,I would put a cage on that pipe in the pond,a fish could get sucked on it,my cage fell off in my pond and a big koi got sucked to it,lost it.👍
Hi Mike. Yes most definitely. I have ordered a cage to fit the 1.5 inch pipe. Sorry to hear you experienced that.
Skimmer looks like a success, good job👍. I’m going to fit the Aqua Forte XL in pond gravity skimmer which works on a similar principle. Lots of koi friends have had issues with wall skimmers leaking so this is definitely a viable alternative 👍🐟🈲😊
Yes I saw it on your previous video. I heard too so many people have got problems with wall skimmer. Well time will tell, but in a few days it has done a massive difference. Thanks for watching Phil.

Hi Lau, I would agree with Mark the fish will get sucked on the bottom inlet. I have killed a couple that way and even if they are too big to get sucked in they can be damaged. I reckon they fall asleep and drift in. Good work on the pond 👍🏿
Yeah, what Mark said makes sense. I am going to see if I can get a cage like in a moving bed that fits the 1.5 inch pipe.
Skimmer working well Lau, haven't seen that make before, I'd be tempted to put a bit of plastic card between the plastic spokes near the front of the skimmer, facing the front of pond, so you get better draw from centre of pond.

Awesome diy skimmer solution !! I saw the tempest,maybe im gonna make one myself don't look so hard to do.The price for it is big,out of my budget at the moment lol
Yes not cheap. Was thinking about building one but I had so much to do, this was ideal for me.

It works, and looks good, remember look at your shower and it really shows how much its pulling through good job, pond looks good and you done it, fare play like it all, how are the forget me nots doing, would like to try them on my shower.
Hi Scott, the plants are called 'Mind your own business'. Two are doing well, one (in the middle) looks like it's been through a tumble dryer.

Hi lau, how are you finding your tempest on the skimmer line? Are you having to clean it every day?
Morning Andrew. At the beginning yes almost everyday. But then as the media matured, it was less. At the height of the summer, I had to clean it every 3 days. Now only once a week. I wouldn't say it's the best as a pre-filter. I think they work better as a polisher.

Nice skimmer build lau, I think I'd put a cage on the pond inlet to possibly prevent damage to your koi. 👍
Hi Andy, yes definitely. Had a good series of messages with Mark Anthony and I am going to get a cage similar to the one for moving bed.

Looks good and you have done really well 🐟👍🏻 the only thing I would say is the inlet on your pump is going to hurt your fish or suck them in to it I would look at something different for it 🐟👍🏻

What size are you after? I have the 50mm for sale which is the size under. I buy Mountain tree products from Italy, from a company call IKoi. If you contact him, tell him that you come from Lau. There are customs to pay as it's from Europe.

@@samsummers9 I have the same pump but running at 50% as I go through the tempest to the shower. What size pond have you got (internal dimensions)?
Hi Lau, I would 100% cover the inlet of the pump at the bottom of the pond, with some sponge or such like, if your fish get to close to that they could get injured by being pulled into the inlet, it will happen at so point if not sorted
Hi Mark, I don't think that any fish can get through that. The hole is like a 5p coin and my smallest fish now is 25cm.
Or do you mean wrapping the hosetail?
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Hi Lau, understood, but they could easily get pulled towards the pipe and get stuck on it, like a vacuum sucking something up, if your not worried, that's all good, love your videos they are very genuine 😉
@@markanthony6778 I will keep that in mind and it makes sense. I will definitely keep an eye on it. That's probably why some people put the cage pump at the end. I might be able to buy a cage that would fit the 1.5 inch, you know like in a moving bed. I would be happier with that to be honest. Will look into it. Thank you Mark.

This happened to me in my early koi days. Cage came of pump and a parachina got stuck and I lost the koi.

Hi, pipe is 75mm. That's the medium size skimmer. They have 3 sizes pipe: 50, 75 and 110 mm.

Great job Lau was meaning to ask you where have got your overflow on your system? I don’t know if I should take overflow from easy pod or straight from pond? Thoughts on this.
Hi Graham, I don't have an overflow as such in the system as my pond is covered. But I am planning to install one in the areated bed (EazyPod goes to areated bed) which would then go outside the filter house.
I think that Martyn from Devon Koi Pond has got the overflow in the pod. You might need to check though.
What if the pump stops working while your gone, I go by the rule of;
Two is one
One is none.
Also had a pump at bottom before and water leaked through the top, luckily koi’s where small and went to the deep corner where a little water was left....
I have just installed a float switch now, so the pumps will now stop if pond empties :-) thank you for watching

What about the air if the pump stops?
@@richardvelasquez2569 Well potentially anything can stop at any time, it is a risk I am sure in all pond keeper's mind who do not run on a back up generator or solar panels I guess. Luckily I work from home so I am here during the day. BUt if it's a power cut, which we have never had here, then there is nothing I can do about that.

@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection tbh lau I had one of the square in wall skimmers in my pond but when I remodelled the pond I switched to the one that I have now and never looked back and deffo would recommend them well worth the money
