I have the same skimmer, which I've had running for the last 2 years. Yes, you need to anchor it into position, plus I placed a few pebbles in the basket to stop it, rising out of the water. I place filter floss in the basket as well, wouldn't be without it!! I have it on a timer to turn off when my feeder goes off.

I had a floating one for ages was a awesome bit of kit if you keep on top of the cleaning

I used to have that skimmer on my old pond cracking bits of kits 👍😊
Also bakki showers dont cause the protein bubbles but the action of the shower does activate them so yeh in you new pond have a proper inwall skimmer or get a protein skimmer 😊👍

Thanks mate . No other water return, even my water feature in the corner don't cause them. Been doing water changes, making sure non waste on floor and still persistent. Can't shift it

Watching you having fun with the skimmer. Cracking tool. Roaming didnt work for me either. Just be aware if you have any small fish and they try to get any food that gets pulled in as they wont get out. If it does bob out it will run its self dry.🤔. 😉👍

Thanks mate , yeah I watched your video on it 👍. Touch wood , it hasn't bobbed out so i think ill put it a timer like you or ill make a feeding ring. Made a difference already

I have the Oase 50 swimskim in my pond, I’ve anchored it to my pond netting so prevents it moving and rotating, it works brilliantly, I’ve added a pebble to my basket to keep it weighed down as it does on the odd occasions spring up, keeps my pond surface lovely and clear, I do have mine on a timer so skimmer on all day switches off during the night time.

Yeah I did the same with pebbles.
I time mine but usually just comes off at feeding times

I have mine fixed to the side of the pond via bracket so it stays in one position so you don’t get it springing up out of the water. The top is set to a level just below the water level.Works great.

I have the same one..Im very impressed with the rubbish it pulls out. I have it on a 12hr on/off timer and I use a smart switch to turn it off when I feed. One issue is that the skimmer does rise a little out of the water so I added a couple of pebbles and that seems to work. I have used a piece of wire to anchor it to the side of the pond. Congrats on the 1k+

Come back to watch this one as I need to fit a skimmer, torn between a retrofit wall job or a floater, thanks for the insight, looks to pull well that one?

Thankyou. I've got it with string for now but yes fishing line would be good as less visible
