Good call. This song, like many Soul Coughing songs, has a progressive darkness, it draws you into its crazy world in a way that you don't even notice at first--until it's too late.
There isn’t a better song that captures the vibe of ecstasy in the late 20th century. This song transports me to 1999 even against my will. This song changed my life...

Wow CN had to have a program producer, who was a huge Soul Coughing fan. I'm 36 and bought this album in 98, a few years later this song and circles played late night on CN in the early 00's.
I'm old my daughter is twenty late ish. Mike was her first concert. Soul salve. She met him back stage and told him my dad loves you. He said I love him too. I got that going for me
I knew soul coughing way before cn featured this song on GROOVIES .but that's groovey.... I saw them live in Pittsburgh w Everclear.. And black eyed peas before ANYONE KNEW WTF THEY WERE.. but obviously we lived soul coughing.. Could care less about everclear.... It was at this place called TheWarehouse... Good times.. Miss the 90s

it was a short they did when a show went off early. They played this song with a race featuring Betty Boop. That was the first time I saw it years ago. Toonami is on the CN channel.
For higher quality videos they use better audio codecs at a higher bit rate. You should test some videos with a 720p option to test this, it may just go unnoticed because of your sound system (mine is at the higher-end, so low quality stuff goes easily noticed).
I grew up watching CN back when they were showing Loony Tunes, that same episode of the old Superman with awesome animations. I was there when Dexter's Lab BEGAN. when Ed, Edd, and Eddy BEGAN, when Johnny Bravo started as a short on one of their episodes. I miss it.
@EyesHaveMiles420 It was so weird seeing the connection. The line about Norman is pretty eerie in that context, "the football" was the nickname for the briefcase full of nuclear codes the president was supposed to have at all times, so what is this that got "thrown with a broken arm"? If the Norm in the lyrics was Norman Schwarzkopf, nicknamed "The Bear" like the album title, then what is West Point songwriter really saying? Is "broken arm" a biblical reference? Or like, Terry Bradshaw? Or what?
God i remember going to a McMenamin's restaurant (fuckyeah to who knows what that is) when I was about 6 years old. I played the first song on the jukebox and instantly remembered it from Cartoon Network. That was a good day.
Im rolling......... Ive gotta get a new balm Ive gotta get a tight tension on Ive got to slip it up until the rush gets gone Ive got to feel it with the hot mind on Im rolling Hey norman was it thrown with a broken arm? I used to stay up late as hell hoping I'd catch that Betty Boop short that featured this song. Ahh this hit me right in the childhood..
Can I get a same, girl :)
I'm right there with you lol.
Ditto.
I did the same with powerpuff girls with the song super girl. That was a real catchy tune.
Me to
I love how the song subtly gets darker and darker, to the point that the outro has even a melancholic touch.

The piano/sampler and the bass comes in so strong and clean after the "han solo" lyric. I love it, so powerful.
DevourMyself Facts! Good catch.
especially if you are in fact rolling. hair standing straight up at that point x)
So true. That part never fails to hit me.
i wish cartoon network broadcasted music like they used to back in 2003, that's how i first heard this song
To think that I found out about this awesome song through what was basically a Betty Boop AMV created by Cartoon Network.
Yessss
Cartoon Network must have used a lot of songs from these guys, because I remember Circles from one of those Cartoon Network Groovies.
same here as i kid lol
Cartoon Network got me on Circles.. Then I found Super Bon Bon. I thank CN for my love of Soul Coughing.
zeldaed123 Used to always wake me up in the middle of the night as a kid lol
This brings back memories from my childhood. Driving with my dad listening to this.

Wonderful song. First heard it in the Cartoon Network spot back in 7th grade. Man, can you folks believe how much time has passed?

First time I heard this was Cartoon Network over a old cartoon race. Matched up perfectly, been in love since!
Thank you.
The Betty Boop race?
Thank you Boomerang for showing me this song as a kid. Still jamming out
The Aussie movie "Candy" with Heath Ledger brought me here....still my favorite Heath movie
I love the bass in this.
Who else thinks that Cartoon Network chose this and Circles to be made into music videos just because of the titles?
I remember this song on Cartoon Network in the late 90s. This song still slaps 23 years later!
Amo esta cancion :)

When you first heard this song on Toonami, and then hear it on Candy and have this major nostalgia attack watching an awesome film at the same time.

Hey Norm there was a throne with a broken arm*
It refers to Norm Abrams of New Yankee Workshop.
I'm glad this is here. I was looking at CN Groovies, but sound was removed....
This song is heroin addiction from start to finish. No kidding. Excellent choice for the "Candy" creditcard scheme scene.
Candy 2006!!!!! RIP Heath Ledger
Also discovered this through a CN groovies segment... Also, this sounds almost like Bloc Party save for Mike's vocals
Indigo A This is a great song to listen to on ecstasy. Great song in general, but especially on MDMA
@victorclemon I was in college when this came out on Groovies and hell I miss it. When CN actually showed quality not crap

This video needs a repeat button so i can keep rolling.
Right click on the video…
@Beck436 While it's interesting to learn what the writer meant by it, this is one of those songs that's wide open to interpretation

what does this song have to do with CN?
i would love to know
"feel it with the hive-mind on"
"Hold on, it was a throw with a broken arm"
You just don't get lyrics like that these days.
He's tripping on MDMA. That's why the song is called, "I'm Really High on Ecstasy Right Now Guys"
Nah, it's more like when you are driving on DMT
Goddamn it's been a long time since I've heard this.
Candy. Love you, Heath. 💕
@TheCrankCaller Actually, its on pretty much every day on Cartoon Network at 2:00 central time. They actually had a run of it today from 1:00 til 2:30
