I'm wondering when you finally tranfer this rooted node that is beginning to put forth topgrowth, do you put the 'stick' itself below the soil line or above the soil line?
Hi Lulu. Does cutting the stolon activate the node? Or would leaving a stolon with multiple nodes in a prop box also activate the nodes? I’m trying to save an albo and am hesitant to cut up stolon into 3 nodes.
i’m getting an albo wetstick and i’m not sure which i should keep it in, sphagnum moss or perlite?? how long can i keep it in there for? where does the plant get its nutrients??
I used damp sphagnum moss. Keep on there until one leaf has fully formed. Which is usually about 6 weeks from the day you placed the stick on top of the moss. It won’t need nutrients until that leaf has formed. At that point you can plant it in your soil mix and begin fertilizing.
What if I’ve got a multi node wet stick, where one section of the nodes have rooted, and the unrooted node began to produce growth? Can I chop the unrooted growing node and attempt to root them, or will I lose the growth if I do that? I’m at three leaves and I see growth points but they haven’t moved since this unrooted thief began to flourish. Three dormant nodes all waiting to spring forward is boring.
Me three!!! And I have Philo nodes that have multiple I have no idea how I should place them because I have no idea what is up or down on the plant and there's axillary buds on all sides so I don't wanna lay em down thinking they'll rot. I'm lost lol
Thank u so much for this video! You are so good in how clear you explained everything. I want to try the perlite propagation method but I still don’t feel confident enough. How do you know how much water to put?
The axillary bud should be pointing to the sky, or at minimum above soil level. The node wraps around the whole stem though so just one side should be laying on the soil.
This is soo helpfull i just bougth a mystery box and i have node and chunks philo giga and other ones and y usually propagate my regular plant in water but with a leave but with a philo node i dont want to take the rist cuz is only 1 node lol so i want to make sure i do it the right way soo thank you for ur help❤❤❤
I have a node that finally rooted 😍 started growing one leaf, but it doesn't look like that leaf is going to make it. Is this node no longer good? Do you think it will sprout another leaf? ☹ thank you so much!
Love this! The only plant I've successfully grown from a node is micans, fingers crossed my amydrium medium silver node resurrects from the grave in perlite after I lost the leaf 🤣❤️🩹
I watched harli’s new video and she propagated some micans nodes. I was confused though because when I’ve propagated them before I’ve left one leaf for each node, but she took off all the leaves. What’s the benefit to doing this? Why not just leave a leaf per node?
@@GrantsInYourPants honestly not sure! I saw you ask that in the chat and thought it was a good question. I usually won't remove leaves unless they look sad. Sometimes I do chop up long runners to prop and those are obviously leafless. Seems like removing leaves would slow down the process but I'm not sure.
@@GrantsInYourPants I think the thought process there is that if the node has no leaf, the plant section will put its energy into growing roots instead of keeping that existing leaf happy.
My Monstera deliciosa node that i bought keep rotting. Is there a way to save it? I have it in perlite tub with plenty of humidity in my western window. HELP?
This was very helpful, thank you. I have an imported fibrosum that came in with root rot and despite my best efforts it's gotten worse and worse. I chopped it into a couple pieces with axiliary buds that look alright, so hopefully I'll get a least one plant out of it!
sorry to be off topic but does someone know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
My philodendron is quite bare and lost all its leaves except one on top. Is it possible for it to develop auxiliary buds for new leaves along the stem if I snip the top growth? It mentiones you cant develop auxiliary buds again right? Did I get that wrong?
How do you decide to prop in perlite or phag? Your successes were both. I have a Mamei that hasn't budged for 2 months in either moss or pon. Gonna try perlite next, but would keiki paste help?
I have an El Choco that I purchased as a node rooting In spagnam. It has 3, 1 - 2 inch leaves on it now. At what point do you transfer to soil? Thanks Lulu!!
Root hormone is best. Pretty cheap. Dip the node in the powder... or brush it on the node so u don't contaminate the powder if u have a fungus growing.
Hi Lucia! Sorry for being off topic, but I have a question regarding the philodendron painted lady. Does it have sap on the petiol? Mine has (it is a little sticky) and I cant't find any insects, so I'm wondering if it due to a normal process, over watering or if I should treat it. Thank you very much!
Hey Lucia, just wondering. If you can't see a visible aux bud doesn't that mean it definitely won't get new growth? As I have quite a few Philodendron's that have never been chopped, with several nodes but for the most part I can't see any aux buds! x
Hi just wondering I had a one leaf rooted cutting of a hoya finlaysonii the leaf turned yellow and fell off. When I checked roots they were very dry. I threw it in garbage but could it have been saved?
Thanks a lot for this great video! l just wanted to ask you about the position of the cuttings. Do you place them horizontally or vertically? First example you have shown were horizontal, but Syngonium cutting (the one in the pot) was placed vertically l guess? :)
Hi!!!! I cut my monstera up into nodes and some already have roots but no leaves. Can I still put it in perlite or should I put it in a airy soil medium? You made this much easier to understand, thank you!
Help me please 😭. My monstera Albo is now rootless because of root rot, i need to save it for my friend and its really valuable to him. Please help me out if you know anything 😭

Great video!!! I loved it! I chopped a stem of a Jungle Boogie in the middle of the video and put it in moss 😅😂
Super useful! Do you have any tips on harvesting plant seeds from the flower?
Thank you so much for sharing. I had been confused about this til now!
You are so welcome!

This was super helpful as I have just started attempting propagation from wet sticks.
Ty, talking bout the nodes, and the prop medium u used. Some we could see Was moss, but not clearly sure if u used spag moss to start with. Ty
such an awesome and informative video! definitely boosted my hope for my florida beauty node that's rooting right now:)

thanks for watching! I like to keep the water below the roots. As long as there is always some moisture, you will get root growth.
Super; needed this information so much 🥇
You are a great teacher. Thank you!
Great info. Thank you! Happy planting 💚
Hi, just wondering abt the way you should position them. Should the part that has nodes face downwards or upwards?
I second this question!!
The axillary bud should be pointing to the sky, or at minimum above soil level. The node wraps around the whole stem though so just one side should be laying on the soil.

Node propagations have my heart💚 I got a big gloriosum chunk and it gave me FIVE babies
omg wow thats so lucky!!!
Where did you get those little sliding containers? Super cute! Thanks for the video lots of good info 😄
IKEA
I have purchased four Monstera large form wet sticks that have all rotted. Two had leaves that died and rotted. Any idea what to do?

I find using keiki paste on the inactive nodes works fantastic
Yes! I haven’t tried it yet!

@Aiden Pedro Instablaster =)
When would you plant that Syngonium Albo in to soil? Is there a point in which you know when?
Where did you get your greenhouse with the shelf trays?!!?
She mentioned it Boeing her IKEA greenhouse cabinet. 🙂
Can you use super thrive in the water in a perlite propagation? What humidity does it need to be. I’m in north Florida. Inside is at least 50-60%.
My philodendron is quite bare and lost all its leaves except one on top. Is it possible for it to develop auxiliary buds for new leaves along the stem if I snip the top growth?
It mentiones you cant develop auxiliary buds again right? Did I get that wrong?
Yes! If you’ve lost leaves along the stem and you take a top cutting, the plant will push out new growth!
Can you list what you used to create your ikea green house (pegboard behind and those shelves/containers)

How long are the roots?
@@LulusLeaves maybe 3 inches?
are the nodes also the sites where new roots develop or do they develop elsewhere? and how do you encourage root development?

it is very likely that its just extrafloral nectaries!
Thank you very much! I'm so glad I don't have to worry about it!
I have 1 node with 2 rotting root so I sliced them off.... will it root again?
I love rooting in perlite as well!
Do those props you have in those closed containers not need light? I thought they would need a lot of light?
I typically keep them in there until they are rooted and then I’ll give them more light!
Omg, I’m rehabbing a mamei chonk that has given me roots and 3 growth points!

As long as the plant has a node, it should be able to create an axillary bud! I just suggest looking for one as it’s the easiest practice!
@@LulusLeaves phew, thank you!
You look for the “bump” so that you don’t place it upside down. But if there is no node, you just hope for the best.
Can you do this with syngonium? I cant find the axillary bud :(
Where can we get similar ikea cabinet containers? Looking for some!
I propagated a stem with roots.
The new sprout that coming out from that stem, started rotting in the top.
What should i do now?
Great video!
Hi just wondering I had a one leaf rooted cutting of a hoya finlaysonii the leaf turned yellow and fell off. When I checked roots they were very dry. I threw it in garbage but could it have been saved?
Unfortunately hoyas are not easy propagated. If you give it high light and 100% humidity, you may get lucky but I wouldn’t be super hopeful
@@LulusLeaves thank you
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing
How can you tell a used auxiliary bud from an unused one?
Hi, love your video can't wait for an update.
I enjoyed this video
Thanks
Thanks a lot for this great video! l just wanted to ask you about the position of the cuttings. Do you place them horizontally or vertically? First example you have shown were horizontal, but Syngonium cutting (the one in the pot) was placed vertically l guess? :)
It depends whether the plant is a climbing plant or a crawling plant! If it climbs, place it vertically, if it crawls, horizontally!
Where did you get the cabinet and shelving from?
It's probably the IKEA cabinet.
Awesome information! Thank you!!
My pleasure!
Me too I like propagation!
How about just using well drained soil?
Thank you this was a great video.
You are so welcome!
I've never heard a wet stick called a "stolen" before. Is this term new?
I believe it's "stolon," which is part of the plant.
