Thank you everyone for your feedback! Some of you guys told me that this method is called air layering, and it is been used in gardening a lot. I thought I was the first one came up with this method and was very clever 😂😂😂
Nicole do you have a method for ZZ plant? Currently it's a long wait game but so with it. I took some cuttings put them in water left them for months and topped it off often roots formed then the bulbs then new root bulbs with their own shoots as the cutting died off. From 4 cuttings I have 1 original cutting and 8 or more root bulbs with several shoots. It took 6mos just to see roots. I get sick and never put in dirt so I started to transition the saplings by adding soil to the water with nutrients in it. It's been a few more months growing like this. I will repot them this week. I also cut up some snake plant stems that were too long and put in water they now all have roots and are ready to go in soil for new snake plants. I never thought about selling them but the zz for sure is a labor of love that I will be selling.
I have watched your demo all the way and you have stimulated my interest in taking cuttings as a hobby. My plan is to corner the market - Ha!. I am 86 this year, thank you.

Aloha Nicole! A great tutorial. I love how you took us on a visual journey up the plant stem, to nodes, etc. and showed which ones would work better. My eyes need the specifics. Thanks so much!! :)
Wow! Like...WOW!! This was amazing for me! It's so perfect! Grow the roots before you even cut it...it's genius! Thank you so much! My Silver Sword is not happy and no matter what I've done, it won't grow. I know the only way I can start over is to chop but the thought made me shiver because I could lose the plant if a cutting doesn't make it. Thank you ever so much. You have a brand new fan in Canada!! 😁
Nicole you are a plant saviour!!! My philodendron Florida Ghost arrived all brown leaves and looking awful!! Maybe it was transit stress, dehydration, fortunately no root rot! I give it time to acclimate in my home yet I m trying your method as there are healthy airial roots and growing points for new leaves. Fingers crossed!! Greetings from Greece!

Thank you , this is great. I have used air layering for citrus trees before and had success. I was looking for someone who has used this for philodendron before I make the cut in mine which is beautiful but out of control. I’m glad I found your video , very helpful.
I’m gonna try it you’ve given me the inspiration! I have a huge standelyana that I tried to take cuttings and root in water and it just rotted I’m gonna try this. Also for my tetrasperma that is too large and growing into the ceiling. I’ve been able to water prop but it takes a long and the conversion to soil nearly killed them so I think this will be easier on them. Thank you so much!
🌓Hey there Nicole how are you doing love? First I would like to say you are such a beautiful soul, such a sweet spirit, you videos are are very informative but yet relaxing, I haven’t seen this method you shared today either on YT. So thank you soooo much for sharing, I am eager to try this and I will keep you updated for sure, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge of plants and for taking us shopping for plants. Lol. I have a huge collection of plants, I love plants so much, I was blessed to find a very healthy zz plant with 5 or 6 plants in it for $2. 62. I thought I was seeing things, it screamed with excitement in Walmart in Alabama. It was in clearance, I was praying for a zz plant at a great price, but a very healthy one of course and I got it, I also picked up several more plants for cheap. They were very healthy as well, I even checked the roots and examined them for pests, and I am very satisfied of my new babies, maybe I’ll take some pictures of my plants and send them to you by IG. But first I want to do your method on some of my plants. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your videos, and please know you I truly appreciate it. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing more wonderful videos. Bless you Nicole and have a wonderful rest of the week.🦋

Great video! This may be a known method but it doesnt seem very popular on TH-cam so I do hope others will credit your video if this is where they first saw it. You definitely made me aware of this method. I just cut up my brandy to propagate but I wish I saw this first 🙃
What do you recommend to do when I already have a Monstera standleyana albo cutting? I have two of them and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get roots since they’re cut. Please help!! Thank you.
I used air layering recently for a hoya chelsea. I got it in the mail and one of the main stems was broken but not completely. So the outer layer of the stem was already compromised. I put a little rooting hormone in the cut and then built a little pocket with plastic wrap and sphagnum moss and kept it moist. Keeping it moist in my climate was a bit challenging. I had to use a little dropper to add water to the pocket every few days. It developed roots inside the pocket in about two weeks. I kept it there for two more weeks, then made a full cut. I left the moss because the roots had adhered to it, then buried the roots and moss in soil.

May I have a question? Did you ever get a new stem growth with air layering? Is it possible? Or do only roots appear? I bought lower half of philodendron dark lord and now I am trying to find out, if there is a way to safely increase my chance of getting more then one new growth without cutting it. I dont want to make the new growth weaker by cutting the plant...
I haven't done air layering yet, buI will try it bc, as you said, the cutting sometimes rots. Thank you for the closeup view of you doing the layering. It helps to be closeup so that we can learn.
