My husband was so moved by the Desert 🏜 Pupfish that he became teary-eyed.
One of my favorite memories of him, my late beloved .

There are other Pupfish that are endemic to Saratoga Springs (at the south end of D.V.) and Tecopa Marsh (just outside of D.V.) Each species has slightly different coloration, and behavior. It's amazing what 11,000 years of isolation will do to a group of animals..... My favorite is the Saratoga Springs fish. During breeding, the males change color to a bright irridescent blue color....lmpressive!

Almost forgot, there is a population of P.F. in the marsh area around the town of Shoshone. They were thought to be extinct for 50 years, but a few years ago a small population was "re-discovered" in the marsh near the Amargosa River....
