They thrived on breaking the societal barriers, along with real acting, and not just simulations of "acting". Guns guns sex, and more guns guns and sex.. blah!
Jim had a natural knack for rhythm and vocal pitch. No other way to explain how he was able to sing so well despite having no formal musical training. To me, that just means that he truly loved music. Everyone "listens" or "hears" music but not everyone truly loves it.
Jim was the greatest lead singer in history. No one will ever be better for eternity. Just like a girl can only so beautiful NO ONE will ever be BETTER than The Doors.
The Doors aren’t classic rock, they are proto-metal. You can’t change my mind on that. Listen to any live version of “When the Musics Over” and tell me that wasn’t the heaviest thing in existence back in 1968ish. I don’t know how nobody seems to notice this, but some of the Doors stuff was 1000000x heavier than anything Sabbath did, and to be honest, heavier than anything that can out for another 15 years at least.
@@PrestonHazardBlue Cheer, Steppenwolf and even Led Zeppelin played a lot heavier back in 1968. You will grow up eventually and listen to some more music
@@eugenegd2112I’ve listened to many many bands of many different genres, I love rock music as a whole… Id have to respectively disagree though. Zepplin played extremely standard blues rock, and I’ve always had a hard time considering them as anything more than just straight forward rock. I’ll give you Steppenwolf, they might have predated The Who and Hendrix’s use of “controlled feedback” but I’d almost liken them to the “Seattle Sound” with them having more in common with other “proto grunge” artists like Neil Young so I still wouldn’t consider them metal ancestors.
@@PrestonHazard I never implied you haven't listened to many bands or genres. However, labeling ANY version of "When the Music's Over" as proto-metal is a little far-fetched actually. Versions from the Matrix in San Francisco or Hollywood Bowl have zero "proto-metal" tendencies. I can hear more "metal" in the Felt Forum or Boston performances but again not so much, to my ears at least. I am not even a fan of Led Zeppelin but I totally respect their input within the rock format and to my ears (again) they played a lot faster and heavier overally. This is the beauty of the art called music, everyone's ears listen differently. Peace
When Jim said why not? he was like a little kid. Greatest lead singer in rock history. I know Robby, and met Ray. Everybody in the group are so talented, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to listen to them.
What a sensational song. There's so much feel in this (along with so much of The Doors). A unique, paganistic vibe. That rhythm is impeccable (some of John's best drumming) and I love Robby's accents. Gritty. Dirty. Legendary.
I was in high school and Wild Child received a lot of air play on the AM radio of the day. FM had been invented, but no one knew what to do with it yet. No one sounded like the Doors.
I just love how in the 1960s The Doors were able to be recording The Soft Parade album while being recorded in the live studio. It just shows the chemistry of what each member brought to the table. Love The Doors 🚪
Anyone can hear the fact that Robbie Krieger is a real rawk gawd on guitar but it's true that Robbie Krieger's name is rarely among the 1st ones mentioned when ppl either give their rankings for guitarists or have hypothetical player vs player battles
Jim always made it ok to realize that music can cast spells, conjure ancestors and celebrate, tribute the spirit, explore more to reality that the familiar, while standing steady aboard your ship navigating through it, getting your info through it, loving it. I always hoped that Jim deeply appreciated John Ray and Robby. He could have not had a better trio of artists All 3 were brilliant .Their style matched Jim perfectly and right to the letter.
The thing that most distinguishes The Doors from most artists is their very high I would say pure level of inspiration in composing music and lyrics that seem to come from another world, another dimension, a parallel universe. It seems that the use of psychotropic plants by these extraordinary four artists has produced the effect of receiving artistic inspiration in the form of subliminal communication or even silent knowledge, as Carlos Castaneda and Frank G. Ripel have spoken in their books. These 4 extraordinary men managed to open "The doors of perception", as Aldous Huxley says in his book of the same name and having opened them they managed "... to perceive the infinite" according to the thought of the English poet William Blake. After all, the 4 artists have repeatedly declared that during their "travels" with Peyote they have communicated with an Indian shaman and with an entity that Don Juan of Castaneda would have called "Mescalito", according to Indian tradition. In conclusion, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison are the 4 Pharaohs of human artistic history, the 4 faces of the God Janus transposed into music and constitute the 4 pyramids of music, poetry, literature and philosophy of life, in a human artistic desert in many ways disheartening when you think of today's commercial music. The Doors are a gift that the Gods of Skies wanted to give to mankind, they are a great sign of discontinuity in the history of the modern art scene. No one was like them or will be like them.

I STILL laugh at how that tech told Jim to hold back and Jimbo says Why Not??? i would of been like fuck that im singing the shit out of this song!!! dont care if i lose vocals-- they'll come back

This really showed that Jim was serious about the music. Hes not all wreckless like in the Oliver Stone movie.
