  • I got to ride this Tracer 9 for a couple of hours while my Tracer 900GT was in for a service. I thought I might as well record it and let you know what I thought. This is in no way a technical or comprehensive review. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for sharing, evolutionary rather than revolutionary (as expected) from the 900 GT, dissapointed that Yamaha haven't sorted the wind noise/ buffeting though as it's about the only thing that all Tracer owners complain about. I've at last found the best solution for me which is a MRA Sports screen, clean air at last.

    I have tracer 9 gt , fantastic bike, I think screen is fine, I did test ride on 900 (old) and the buffeting was horrible so definitely an improvement

    Nice one Graham! What was the outcome with the seat height? Was it on the low setting? I flogged my tracer a couple of weeks ago and I’ve kept the MT09. I’ve banked the cash and I’ll see about getting something else next year. I’ve changed jobs so only need the one bike having a much shorter commute now. I still have the tracer as favourite but you’re steering me towards the new Ninja 1000SX. It’s about 2 grand cheaper. My only concern is the riding position. I’ll probably change my mind again next year. 🤣

      Hi John. Surprisingly it was on the low setting. The seat height is supposed to be 810 up to 825 so even if it was on the high setting it should have felt lower than my Tracer. I always ride mine with panniers so maybe the extra 12kg makes my bike sit lower. I've recently sold my Z1000sx to use the cash for a different purchase. I kept the tracer GT because it was more modern with the extra toys on it, and the slimline panniers I can leave on all the time for commuting. The Kawa though has a way better engine. If my choice had of been between the new Ninja 1000 and my GT it would probably be a different outcome. Amazing engine, so stable at high speeds too. Keep safe pal and I look forward to watching events unfold regarding your potential new bike. Thanks John.

      Ninja riding position, top half is very similar to the Tracer but knees are noticeably more tucked under. There are peg lowering kits on e-bay though. Also new Tracer GT has electronic suspension and the price of the two bikes is a lot closer if you add the touring pack to the Ninja, panniers, heated grips and screen. They should have demo bikes in so you can try both.

    Thanks for sharing! Very nice and enlightening video!
    How would you describe the short travel of the suspension? is it hard for the back of a middle age biker?

    • @geetee5509
      @geetee5509  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dimitris, I thought the suspension was absolutely fine. I never felt it too hard or crashy over bumps, it never bottomed out and it never felt too soft or wallowy either.

      Only little away from buying!

      For the price, consider either a used Tracer 900GT you'll save a couple of grand and it has more toys,....quickshifter fully adjustable suspension, remote preload, panniers included, heated grips. I would either spend a couple of K more for a new GT or a couple of K less for a 2019/2020 GT.

    ive got the 2019 tracer 900 GT, i was just wondering if the wind buffering is caused by the fact that there is no front beak ?? i know you can buy a front beak on E bay , any one else got an opinion maybe ???

    • @geetee5509
      @geetee5509  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people reckon removing the hand guards makes a difference, some prefer taller touring screens and others again prefer smaller screens, like a naked bike. Can't say I've heard any comments about the beak affecting windflow.
