1:35 Can you describe how difficult leaving your family was before deployment?
3:12 Did you cry when you found that your childhood friend had committed suicide?
4:02 Is it a healthy dose for kids when you leave?
4:43 Any good recommendations for cutting down on alcohol?
12:18 Communication is often used as an excuse both over and under, for why a direction wasn't clear, any suggestion on balancing COMS up and down with a right level of detail?
15:39 When taking ownership, how can you prevent your boss thinking you are a complete screw-up and stop it from escalating into the point where he starts blaming you for things you are not actually at fault?
19:06 I've got two warrior kid daughters who are very much on the path on pretty much anything except snaking. How can I coach them in this area without being overbearing?
24:03 Why isn't MMA or jiu-jitsu a bigger component in law enforcement training? It seems to be a missed opportunity.
31:54 Bow or not? In jiu-jitsu
38:44 Did you ever have attached ACCT to your unit, and if yes. How was having them alongside and what advantages did they bring to the battlefield?
40:09 Jocko, currently in a busy and stressed place in life and keep looking back at what could've been. How do you bounce back to doing you and not getting in your own head? Appreciate what you and Echo do. Thank you both and god bless.
44:55 I get really bad anxiety doing almost everything. For example, when talking to people I feel always like as if I'm gonna say something stupid, and this makes me start to stutter and loose my train of thought and just go blank.
47:36 When you transition from E to an O, how did you approached working with men you previously served with as enlisted now that you were an officer?
51:23 Dichotomy of leadership has some great principles, what is an appropriate philosophy concerning time to train vs manage out a direct report when they have been in the role for over a year?
52:45 After coexist at time with an individual who knows I'm ex-army, he purposely makes pro-Taliban quips to piss me off as I'm in a position I can't do much about it, his intent to anger works but I don't show it.
58:16 Is it better to remain single if you have a dangerous or demanding career in order to protect your family from unintending negative consequences or have a partner willing to embrace the risk and raise your kids together?
1:06:00 Could you talk about how you read a book to get so much out of it?
1:07:04 What was plan B if you rang the bell?
1:10:30 What actual strategies should jiu-jitsu white belt employ during a roll other than relax tap early, tapp off, etc.
1:11:05 If a coworker were attempting to bully or intimidate or make you general miserable, do you go with it? Would you make a mention of your jiu-jitsu knowledge or keep it a surprise?
1:14:25 What do you typically wear when you meet the bosses of companies? And why?
1:16:21 How do you grow better, faster, stronger with your romantic partner without being a brute over time?
1:19:24 In cooperation and negotiation, is there a tell to know when you're breaking your personal code and compromising too much? Is it a guy check or logical?
1:25:17 Best way to get your team to buy into your vision?
1:26:30 What would be better verbal communication with concept of prioritizing and execute when talking to my wife? She often times feel overwhelmed with how many decisions she has to make. She hates when I use the words of prioritizing and execute.
1:32:52 My warrior kids want to know. Is warrior kid #3 in the works?
1:33:55 Your lifestyle is intense and intentional. How do you even start living like that?
1:35:55 How do the finest civilian leaders differ from the finest military leaders? Or in other words, what characters traits do military leaders develop that are more difficult or rare for civilian leaders to develop?
1:37:38 Hey Jocko, love your books and podcast. When it comes down to the wire and you need to make quick and tactical decisions amidst chaos, how do you keep your head straight?
1:39:36 How do you build a relationship with a boss that constantly looses his temper on a regular basis?
1:40:44 I'm struggling to be an effective leader because I'm told that I don't have the right tone, I'm to direct and coarse, and I'm not too sure how to fix it. I'd appreciate any and all help, thanks in advance.
1:42:46 I serve in the Coast Guard and operate in high risk operations, where not only do I have victims on the water who have high risk of dying, but also my people and myself have high probabilities of being injured or killed. I enjoy my job thoroughly and perform on the job but, is the waiting that is brutal. How do you manage stress in the off time? So it's not overwhelming.
1:47:38 I'm very goal oriented, my friends say that they want me to achieve this and that, yet they are still vaping, partying, being lazy and overall don't walk the talk. I wanna be an AF special tactics officer and I don't have time for those distractions. How do I get them on track?
1:49:02 When things start moving fast and feel out of control because you're really getting after it, work, family, jiu-jitsu and other countless things. How do you slow it down and get the feeling back of being in control?
1:55:26 Hey Jocko, lots if for you and your work. How do you draw the line between doing things you're uncomfortable with, to develop, and just torturing yourself unnecessarily?
2:02:12 How does the introduction you gave to Mike in the equipment room square with extreme ownership?
2:06:06 How do you stay on the war path when everything seems to be going wrong?
2:09:00 General recommendations, talk and adds.

Aside from this having been the funniest hour of a Jocko podcast this year, @ 1:04:50 Jocko's best modern day Judge Hardey impersonation laying cold hard matter of facts out about with which I wish I had had somebody to level with me, man to man. as Prof. Willink illustrates crucial was that succubus I entertained as potential breeding material. treachery was up to.. What make these situations tragic when we finally realize, always in hindsight, unbeknownst to me the tyranny she wrought has left in its wake me waving the white flag: a compromise here, a loss there, and jettisoned was my character. Pride my own Esprit de corps? This white flag I ended up carrying around didn't used to be mine hell it didn't used to be white. Used to belong to her and the flag used to be red.. I used to see them at the beginning other relationship with irregular frequency frequently. Looking back I don't know why I left those flags Roll On By But when they routinely block my vision of my life path it's more Overlook concealed such things. The rug was it wasn't her that changed the color from red to White and conceal the origin, but me. This is why Jocko's words so important.

I’m a big fan, listen to every show, and I’m 20+ minutes into this one and I can sense tension. Maybe Jocko is tired from the road, but he seems like he wants echo to stop talking this episode. Jocko and Echo are a great team and are a dichotomy themselves, but to see the tension this early in a 2+ hour podcast, I’m nervous for the rest!

  • @amocmofficial

If there's any example of a dichotomy it's these two's relationship on certain questions hahaha I love to see how they have different opinions but yet they can stay in agreement. I think the problem is that behind every adult there is actually a child ! So on the surface this kind of advice is very sound on another it isn't , our defensive ego strageies developed very early on and our adult default is a variation on this or these and here is the big problem, babies are not born F..."warriors" to me it is defintiley a phase all be it an important one, much like householder, merchant , finally spiritual being ( having a worldly experience ) ie the centurion ( a veteran of war ?) is reported to have said to Jesus ,Sir as he would to one higher up in the command chain .Because he recognized his superior wisdom, but much respect otherwise good avice .
