Chores done. The wind is blowing outside. I've lit a candle, made myself a coffee and I've just watched your wonderful vlog. This is my self care, bliss. Thanks Ali x
Lovely podcast, Ali. Thank you. I could almost smell the apple pie!! All the best to Lillia as she heads off to university. She will really enjoy it. Those were some of the best days of my life. x
As a parent sending your children off to their next chapter is both a proud moment and a difficult one. Both of my sons are older then you but I remember those days clearly. You’ve done a good job preparing for adulthood. Many blessing to Lillia as she starts the next chapter!
What am I doing to prepare for Autumn/Winter?? I’m knitting our great niece and nephews a Pumpkin hat each!! I’m also restocking my candle stash for winter nights. Best wishes to Lilia for Uni and to you and the rest of your family from Nottingham 🤡💚
Hi, that was a lovely day and so nice that you got to spend it together, I hope all goes well with Lillia's transition to University. Have a lovely week. ☺
Hope Lilia’s move to Uni went well and she is settling in comfortably. It’s a funny feeling when they fly the nest but all part of the process I suppose. Really enjoyed the autumnal vibes today and your meal looked delicious! Looking forward to Vlogtober xx
Dutch apple pie is so good and very common in the US (at least in the Midwest). Kate Quinn is an excellent author. I listened to the Alice Network too and enjoyed the narration. I have to thank you for introducing me to Alison Weir. I listened to all 6 of the Tudor Queen books during my summer break.
Hi Ali. I've just turned 50, and my crazy body inflicted the random dry eyelids on me about 2 years ago. It extended around my eyes at its worst, and nothing helped, even prescribed cream. I eventually worked out that it seemed to be a new food sensitivity, to almonds and hazelnuts, with coconut also causing another skin reaction. Perimenopause really is the gift that keeps on giving...!🤔 Best of luck and big hugs, on Lillia's new adventure. Love especially to Phoebe, as my nearly 14 year old has been bereft over the last 4 years, with one or both of her siblings away at university. It's a very confusing time, emotionally, for those of us remaining at home. For parts of each week our bustling household of five has been down to two, which is just all kinds of wrong! Sending love. 🥰🥰 xx
Glad you are using your lanolin and it’s as good as I said. We are off to Yarndale this weekend, and meeting up with the WITA ladies. We will all be knitting our Twinkle Toes yarn after a day at the show watching Strictly. Xxx 😊
Good luck to Lilia at Uni. My daughter is studying at Uni but still lives at home. I can imagine her moving is a big change. Hope she (or you) will let us know sometimes how she finds this new chapter. (Without telling to much about where she is ofcourse)
So fun to see the Shakespeare plays you just bought! When I was younger, I played Queen Hermione in “The Winters Tale” and Viola in two productions of “Twelfth Night.” ( both times, I tried out for Olivia.) Very best wishes for a wonderful theatre adventure! 😍 🎭
Spring in Australia but it’s a bit chilly in Adelaide still , can’t wait for the warm Give Lillia my best wishes for he next chapter in life and remember mom is only a phone call / FaceTime away Such comfort as I do that daily with my daughter in glasgow
Yippee so thrilled for Vlogtober ❤❤❤ Both happy for Lilia going to Uni, and also sad, I will miss her 😔 I hope you are feeling better Ali, dry eyelids and all, lot’s of changes some not so good! Lovely to see gentle Mia 🐈. Thank you for your presence in my life ❤ love & Hugs, Suze. 🍄🍁🥮🍂 🤗 xxx
Hey Ali, I haven't commented on your vlogs for a while but i do watch every single one. You guys are still my favourite family to watch. I'm still here watching but silently. I can not believe Vlogtober is nearly here. Without trying to make you sad but things wont be the same around here without Lillia. Her passion for books is so lovely to see. She is a great credit to you and Dan. Please give her my regards and wish her all the very best for uni. I am still looking forward to seeing you all in Vlogtober and i hope your lovely mom reads a spooky page from a book during Halloween. We know where Lillia gets her love for books from. Anyway i hope you are feeling much better and see you all in Vlogtober. x 🎃🎃🎃👻👻👻
I don’t have a sweet tooth but I will definitely succumb to Dutch Apple Cake. We have something similar and equally as delicious in Somerset, called, unsurprisingly, Somerset Apple Cake. Lovely!
I went on my second annual Slow Birding weekend in Vermont, US. It was amazing and so refreshing, sleeping in a cabin and waking to the geese getting ready to fly from the pond outside. Love fall as well
Best wishes to Lilia on this fabulous new chapter of her life. Wishing every happiness and lots of fun adventures. Big hugs to you and Dan ... and the start of a new chapter for you. The dessert looked scrumptious. Spring here ... 24 degrees yesterday, 11 and rain today. We like variety in this little corner of the world. Melbourne will come alive this weekend with the AFL grand final ... and it’s school holidays ... so hoping the weather is back to lovely and warm by the weekend. I know what you mean about having the windows open and letting in the breeze ... I had my doors and windows all open yesterday letting in the Spring warmth ... it just makes me happy to have a lovely breeze freshening up the home. Love and hugs to all ... and to all your followers also sending off family to University or other worldly adventures x
Wonderful video! It was great to catch up with your family. I’m also always interested in different ways people organize. You shared about your plans to organize the leftovers from your cross stitch projects, and how you keep the leftovers together by project. I’ve always separated all of the components out once the project is complete and store/organize them by type rather than keeping them all together with the pattern. (I have a pile of Aida scraps, all flosses together and sorted by number, needles together, etc.) Now I wonder if I’m missing something and would benefit from reorganizing? If you don’t mind sharing your thoughts, I’d love to hear your strategy! I hope you are all adjusting to your new adventures with one daughter away and one at home. Life is always shifting!
I just got hooked on a Hallmark series called “The Way Home” and it’s surprisingly good! It’s got a time travel element where the teenage daughter goes back to the 90s and meets her mom as a teenager. You and Lilia might like it! That pie looks amazing! 🥧🍂🍁
I love autumn ! I bought and put out a new fall table runner and some mini pumpkins and mushrooms. They are so cute! I have to rummage in my “attic room” to find my other fall decorations.
We took our daughter to uni last Friday and leaving her was the hardest thing. Cried everyday since but hoping it will get better in time it’s just so quite without her x
Oh Samantha! I wish I could give you a hug and share some of the pie with you as I know just how you feel! It's all so very weird isn't it? I bet she's having a great time though. We are slowly getting used to not having Lillia around, it's going to take a while xx
Thankyou Ali wish I could give you a hug too as we re both feeling the same and missing our girls. I defo wouldn’t say no to a piece of that pie looks amazing. Yes it’s very weird putting 2 plates out for dinner instead of 3 is hard to get used to. Lily is really enjoying it and doing well and that’s all that’s matters. Hope Lillia is doing ok and enjoying it too. I ve started so many project to keep me busy so that will keep my mind of missing her ❤️
Wow! That apple pie looks amazing….. I too have a dry eyelid and have been using lanolin. I’m also getting dry skin on one of my ears so using it there too x
One year my friend had gone apple picking and so a group of about 5 of us made 25 Dutch Apple Pies! It was a wonderful day of assembly line style making. I made the crusts, another friend peeled, another made the other fillings, and so on. In the end we each took 5 pies, which were easily frozen for baking and eating later. And it was a fun day with my friends. Now we are all scattered to different cities and states. So I never look at a Dutch Apple Pie without thinking of that day. 🍎
Wishing Lillia all the very best at university, and I'm looking forward to October vlogs. It's supposed to be spring in Adelaide, but it was very chilly as I left town this afternoon!
It's so funny, as you are squeezing every bit of Autumn you can get out of the weather, we are desperately wanting the last of Winter to leave and let us get on with Spring! Yesterday we had a pleasant 23 degrees C but today we have plummeted back into cold and wet. That's because it's school holidays and we have plans. 😂☔️
I buy and savor a sizable pumpkin cookie loaded with butter with maple frosting on top for breakfast every Monday. It’s still too hot here, 32C, to be in the spirit of autumn otherwise.
Oh that was so lovely, it really made me feel homesick for Kent. The dinner and pudding sounded amazing. Oh loved the music too. Really had to wipe away some tears.😢
Another lovely video. Lillia have the best time at uni but don’t forget the reading updates! I hope Phoebe is coping ok must be a strange time for you all xx. Can’t wait for vlogtober xx
Having sent all 3 of my children off on their adulthood chapters I know all the emotions you are feeling. But you should be very proud of the wonderful young lady Lillia has turned into and I wish her every happiness and success in her next chapter. For you it will be a time of big change but you will adapt and adjust to a new way of life but know that you don’t ever stop being a parent however near or far they are. Much love to you and look forward to seeing you in October vlogs 💕
We all paste on our happy face as we send our kids away but inside we cry. I hope Lillia enjoys college. Keep yourself busy, keep in contact by text and email. They get busy and contact can be sporadic. I hope you feel better soon.
Dutch apple pie is very common in the US as well as regular double crust apple pie. We are having one last day of summer today - it will get 96 degrees F (35 C) here today! Yikes. Then tomorrow, it's only supposed to be around 72 degrees, what a drop. See you in October!
Much Ado is my favourite too. I went to see the film with Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branaugh five times. The cinema staff must have thought they were having deja vu.
A bitter sweet moment coming! Lillia you are a credit to your mum and dad! But you have done the hard work, never give up, never be afraid to ask for help. You are a amazing person!!!❤ Don’t forget to phone home now and then, keeps parents very happy 😂. This year I became a nana , that’s a whole new game 😮😂❤. Luckily I get my beautiful kleindochter every Saturday night , Sunday , she gets picked up Monday evening. Absolutely knackered by the time she goes home but wouldn’t swap it for the tea in China ❤❤❤
faffing. what a funny word! Love it. You know what I do to welcome spring on this other side of the world? I pretend I am in autumn. hahaha. I live vicariously through videos of people like you. I seem to follow only autum lovers! I've watched strictly and bake off now. That's my 'oh, it's autumn in spring!' moment. And to be honest weather here is still rather volatile and today's quite the autumnal day. Bring on vlogtober, cannot wait! x
Hi Ali, all the best to Lillia on her new adventure! It’s definitely an adjustment, but I found with time, I got used to it and I really enjoyed anticipating and preparing for my sons’ visits on long weekends and holidays, they were always happy to be home and appreciated their favorite meals, visiting friends and being with family. Looking forward to Vlogtober!
Just found your channel loved the content what’s your name?I am 71 with three grown sons one 46 Antony and one 42matt and the youngest one is 40 Sam you have a lovely daughter nice to meet you 🎉❤
Enjoyed this vlog so much! Autumn is my fave time of year for a multitude of reasons. Hope you are all adjusting well to Lillia’s move. Life is always changing. Excited for Vlogtober🍁🍁🍂🍂
First chick leaving the nest will be emotional by now Tuesday 24th you will be feeling the loss Lilia has grown up before my eyes in your vlogs into a beautiful young woman “ Go follow your dreams Lilia “ I wish her well in all she dreams Hope you feeling better Ali it’s the TIME in your life 😤😤😤😤😤
The 'Dutch' apple pie looked delicious but it didn't look like a real Dutch 'appeltaart' as we call it. The 'appeltaart' has strips of dough like a basket weave on top instead of crumbles. And we most of the time use sweeter yellow/red apples
Hi Ali, happy fall to you and family. Glad your feeling better, I too thought I had COVID but no just a mild flu. We are back into 90+degrees weather and I can wait for cooler days. Best wishes to Lillia as she goes to university. Tell us how are the chickens? One day I’ll get to England and maybe get to meet you. 🍄🍁🍂🍄🟫💐👋🏻
Don’t forget a baking tray. Just been away for a weekend with 7 girlfriends and weirdly 3 of their kids messaged to say not one person in any of their halls of residence had brought a baking tray. Dozens of pans and pots but no baking trays!
Beautiful blog Ali! That pie looked delicious. So we’re currently having a spring holiday in Tasmania. We popped our car on a massive boat and enjoying a road trip 🌺🇳🇿
oh Ali its such a hard and exciting time when they start to leave home . But remember you and Dan raised .A strong beautiful amazing young woman! Lillia I will miss seeing your beautiful face popping up on the vlogs enjoy stay safe and know you are thought of by many hugs Beth
What a lovely autumnal vlog you've made! So funny to hear you talk about your dry eyelids. I have the same problem now that I am a certain age (😂) but never heard anyone talk about it! I use vaseline but wool fat sound like a great solution. I am going to try that!
When you said about not feeling great at the beginning, There is stuff going about at Phoebe's school. My daughter (at same school) and me have not been feeling great recently as well and heard from other parents the same. 😷 Nice to see Lillia shop in the same charity shop for books. I saw some of them Shakespeare plays. I'm a 40 year old booklover. 🙂📚 So excited now its Autumn. 🍁🍂🐿
We are in spring and I am full of hayfever 🤧🤧🤧 I hate I would rather autum 🍂🍄🟫🍁🧡 …. All the best to lillia and stay safe and I hope you do really well ❤…. I love that September song you were playing through the video I downloaded it …. Apple pie 🥧looked so yummy …. Can’t wait for vlogtober 👻🍄🟫🧡
Hi Ali, long time watcher but never commented before. I am reading a book which I think you will enjoy “The Agency for Scandal” by Laura Wood. It’s described as a mash up of Enola Holmes and Bridgerton. It’s perfect cosy reading, YA but I’m loving it and Laura Woods writing in general. My son has just gone back to begin his 3rd year at Uni and I remember well the day we first dropped him off, so love to you for the weekend ❤
Lovely vlog! Im so excited for Lilia! It’s such a time of change that’s exciting ( for her) and scary ( for you). I’m sure she will do amazing things! I’m soooo excited for Vlogtober. I got out some Fall decor today as we too had a drop in temps finally! I’m thinking I just might give Strickly Sockalong a try for the first time this year… I’ve never watched before. 🫣
A wonderful introduction to your autumnal vlogs …..the apple cake looked delicious 😋 I hope that Lillia has a good move in day and remember to take tissues with you. I cried buckets when my daughter started university. Sending you and your family love and hugs from Northern Ireland xoxo
I love Gilmore Girls! I have watched all 7 seasons countless times and fast forward to 2016 when the seasons came out on Netflix. So enjoyable. I have purchased Gilmore Girls inspired yarn from different dyers and cross stitched a few Gilmore Girls inspired patterns. Just such a great series. I live in Massachusetts which is only a couple of hours from where Stars Hollow would have fictionally been.
I had a whole bunch of random comments so here it goes: It’s fun seeing Mia, it reminds me of when I have my grandchild over. Have fun, no responsibility, and then she goes home. I was wondering whether Lilia would do her own vlog from university ? maybe once a month so we could see what’s up with her? That pie looked scrumptious, I’m gonna have to make that. What magazine was that from? I watch both your Vlogs. My husband sometimes is here when you’re on and he says you seem like such a nice family last, but not least, when does the strictly sock-a-long start?
Ah thank you so much Lorraine (and husband!) 🤗 We also say that about Mia too - all the cuddle and none of the cost! Although she is priceless ❤️ Lillia isn't into vlogging unfortunately - I keep telling he she should start Booktube but she's not keen 😅 The pie recipe was from Sainsburys Magazine October 2023 issue, it was epic! And the Strictly Sockalong is on now until the end of the year! 🤗 xx
I love both of those Hallmark movies. Yes, I know they are terrible. For one thing, they are great knitting companions as are the Christmas movies. Gilmore Girls too. I have the dark circles too (as does my son). I knew a doctor who called them sinus eyes. We both have sinus problems.

Chores done. The wind is blowing outside. I've lit a candle, made myself a coffee and I've just watched your wonderful vlog. This is my self care, bliss. Thanks Ali x
I hope Lillia has an amazing time at university. You and Dan have raised such an accomplished and kind young woman you must be very proud.
Lovely podcast, Ali. Thank you. I could almost smell the apple pie!! All the best to Lillia as she heads off to university. She will really enjoy it. Those were some of the best days of my life. x
What a lovely vlog! I, too, am thrilled for Lilia and the start of her career…❤️💐🍀
As a parent sending your children off to their next chapter is both a proud moment and a difficult one. Both of my sons are older then you but I remember those days clearly. You’ve done a good job preparing for adulthood. Many blessing to Lillia as she starts the next chapter!
Thank you so much Deb - yes it feels awful but wonderful at the same time, so strange! Her first week is going very well though, phew! 😘 xx
Love the autumnal music you were playing 🍁🌰
I have done Gilmore Girls - every one - 4 times over!! It is, as Gayna would say, one of life's Glimmers for me xxx
Hi, that was a lovely day and so nice that you got to spend it together, I hope all goes well with Lillia's transition to University. Have a lovely week. ☺
Such a lovely, cosy vlog - I am very envious of your lovely day!
Hope Lilia’s move to Uni went well and she is settling in comfortably. It’s a funny feeling when they fly the nest but all part of the process I suppose. Really enjoyed the autumnal vibes today and your meal looked delicious! Looking forward to Vlogtober xx
I am also a big fan of Fall and Fall baking. It always makes me feel happy.
I'm welcoming Autumn by embracing my big woolly jumpers again.... Good luck to you all with the start of Uni for Lillia. What an adventure xx
Hi Ali. I've just turned 50, and my crazy body inflicted the random dry eyelids on me about 2 years ago. It extended around my eyes at its worst, and nothing helped, even prescribed cream. Lovely. Good luck to Lilia for Uni I'm sure she will love it. Having bee through sending one of mine to uni I know how it feels xx
Wow! You fall culinary efforts look amazing. That apple dish qualifies for a magazine spread.
Spring in Australia but it’s a bit chilly in Adelaide still , can’t wait for the warm
Give Lillia my best wishes for he next chapter in life and remember mom is only a phone call / FaceTime away
Such comfort as I do that daily with my daughter in glasgow
You are so missing out not getting the King Lear - it is epic!!!!!! What a story! Which of you shall we say doth love us most???? :D x
I love a bit of faffing and I can't wait for Vlogtober! I hope the university transition goes smoothly for you all ❤
Yippee so thrilled for Vlogtober ❤❤❤ Both happy for Lilia going to Uni, and also sad, I will miss her 😔 I hope you are feeling better Ali, dry eyelids and all, lot’s of changes some not so good! Lovely to see gentle Mia 🐈. Thank you for your presence in my life ❤ love & Hugs, Suze. 🍄🍁🥮🍂 🤗 xxx

So excited for Vlogtober🧡🍁 longing for cooler weather; it’s still a bit warm here in Texas, but honestly anything that’s not 100 is awesome.
I'm not at all sure I'm ready for Lillia to go away...
🤗 Aw Kelly! 😘
´Vlogtober starts in a week’ music to my ears 🎶 🍁 🍄

Thank you for a cozy and entertaining video! I simply had to go to iTunes and buy that song, “The Last Days of September “😊
Thank you for sharing such a lovely day with us ☺️💛
Oh that was so lovely, it really made me feel homesick for Kent. The dinner and pudding sounded amazing.
Oh loved the music too. Really had to wipe away some tears.😢
I live next to the town Star Hollow is based on, Gilmore Girls items everywhere! And Star Hollow is the name of our local yarn shop😊
Another lovely video. Lillia have the best time at uni but don’t forget the reading updates!

I had no idea Hallmark did cheesy Autumn movies, definitely need to check that out as terrible Hallmark Christmas movies is one of my guilty pleasures
Just found your channel loved the content what’s your name?I am 71 with three grown sons one 46 Antony and one 42matt and the youngest one is 40 Sam you have a lovely daughter nice to meet you 🎉❤
Good luck Lillia! Enjoy every moment.
Enjoyed this vlog so much! Autumn is my fave time of year for a multitude of reasons. Hope you are all adjusting well to Lillia’s move. Life is always changing. Excited for Vlogtober🍁🍁🍂🍂
Thank you Sharon ❤️ It's weird without Lillia but we are slowly adjusting, Lillia is having a great time so far so that's a relief! x
Ps, love the music added to your utube x
So lovely seeing Lillia. Good luck for all that is ahead Lillia. ❤
Sending love to you as you start a new chapter with your daughter off to uni.
First chick leaving the nest will be emotional by now Tuesday 24th you will be feeling the loss Lilia has grown up before my eyes in your vlogs into a beautiful young woman “ Go follow your dreams Lilia “ I wish her well in all she dreams
Hope you feeling better Ali it’s the TIME in your life 😤😤😤😤😤
Lillia will have an amazing time at Uni and make many new friends. The recipes looked delicious 😊
Best of luck to Lilia at university! Lovely Autumn Vlog. 🧡🍁
That pie 😍
Such a special memory of a day for both of you - bestest wishes to Lilia’s new chapter ❤
Thank you Tanya xx
oh Ali its such a hard and exciting time when they start to leave home .
We just started watching Gilmore Girls again from the beginning.
I’ve just discovered the Gilmore Girls ❤ and also did you know there is even a Gilmore Girls knitting pattern book! 😊
Enjoy your videos! Looks like the Readly offer doesn’t apply to the USA 🇺🇸 😢
❤❤lovely to see you,Ali,,,,
A great day out with Lilia,,,,
🎉🎉🎉
Elaine❤🏠🏠🏠
Great vid enjoyed itb
I love pie. Sweet and savory alike. Yours looked spectacular. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my goodness it was AMAZING! And really easy too. I will definitely be making it again 🥧xx
Lovely vlog again, where you were baking appeltaart as we say in the Netherlands.
VLOGTOBER yea my birthday month and a few days away, I cant wait to see you every day and share in your adventures
Happy birthday month to you Davina! 🍂🥧
She's really enjoying it 🤗 It all looks so pretty and aesthetic :) xx
WAS that Dolly Parton singing?
Readly isn’t available to those residing in the USA. Is that right?
I had a whole bunch of random comments so here it goes:
It’s fun seeing Mia, it reminds me of when I have my grandchild over.
My husband sometimes is here when you’re on and he says you seem like such a nice family
last, but not least, when does the strictly sock-a-long start?
Ah thank you so much Lorraine (and husband!) 🤗 We also say that about Mia too - all the cuddle and none of the cost! Although she is priceless ❤️
Lillia isn't into vlogging unfortunately - I keep telling he she should start Booktube but she's not keen 😅
The pie recipe was from Sainsburys Magazine October 2023 issue, it was epic!
And the Strictly Sockalong is on now until the end of the year! 🤗 xx
Looks like it was a fun day.
Good prices for the great books.
Such a bargain, she was delighted! Perfect for an acting student 🎭 xx
Lovely surprise ❤
Beautiful ending to an entertaining vlog 😊
Thank you 😁 Always good to end with apple pie 😋
❤❤❤
I love both of those Hallmark movies. Yes, I know they are terrible. For one thing, they are great knitting companions as are the Christmas movies. Gilmore Girls too. I have the dark circles too (as does my son). I knew a doctor who called them sinus eyes. We both have sinus problems.
