HinAli, we have a dryer, but we do not use it much. I like air dried clothes. For instance my jeans. I hate dryer dried jeans. Towels are ok. Plus like you it saves energy. My Mom always line dried our clothes.

In the Midwest buses and trains don’t really work well outside of a major city. I doubt NYC students get a license. My son works part time about 10-12 minutes away. There is no bus route. I drive him. In my state he is required to take Driver’s Ed in high school to graduate. He passed the class but failed the permit test which means he is not legally allowed to practice behind the wheel. The state insists everyone know the rules of the road as we call it and be set up ready to drive. He won’t be driving. If he did drive he would need insurance it would be probably close to $7000 a year. Why? He is male and in high school and they charge them a lot. More than females, a girl would be $6000. Good grades and extra classes from the insurance company might bring that down 20%. He does not make that much. He does not get many hours. If he did work the typical 20 hours a week on top of high school it would be half his check.Then gas money. When he hits 20’s it would go down a bit. But my husband and me combined pay $3000 a year for both of us. Before Covid we paid $2000 a year for my husband and me. 5 years later it’s up 50%.

I've absolutely loved your latest tranche of vlogs for October. Thank you. Just wanted to ask about your "walking leggings"! They look so comfortable, and I wondered if they were ordinary ones or if they're from an outdoor shop like Millets or Mountain Warehouse. Is the fabric breathable, have moisture control (wicking) like you get in tops etc. Just thinking about an alternative to walking trousers. Best wishes, Sally

You should certainly try the winter without a dryer. I went over two years without one and living in Canada, I can only hang out for about 4 months a year. What a difference it made to my electricity bill!

I'm sitting here knitting on my hat I'm making with my wonderland walk yarn while I watch. I made some handwarmers first and now making a musselburgh hat so when I use my yarn I am going to use some other green to finish it off but you wont know as it will be the inside. Once finished I'll put away as we are going into summer. Its 22 degrees this morning.

Hello Ali, I am into the 2nd book of ACOTAR & am trying to keep things straight still. I bought all the books on an Audible sale a while back so I will listen to them. I think there was too much of a timespan between me listening to the 1st then the 2nd so I won't do that again. Love your podcasts & your lovely family. 🙂

Your cross-stitch looks so cool in the frame. A word to the wise, lacing across the back over a hard card or plywood is the thing to do, but you need to use an acid free board if you want it to live. After 20 years ( yeah ok) an embroidery of a baby zebra I did started to disassemble itself and the thread had been degraded by the acid in the backing board and the embroidery was disappearing. Most distressing! Have a lovely time at retreat!
