Which was also part of why Paul is such a womanizer, every pure member of the Greyrat clan, independent of gender, is a polygamist or has multiple partness, even if it's not in an official manner(and this characteristic gets weaker as the blood is "dilluted"). And also Each noble clan has their own uniquiness. That is the reason why there was that comment about protection, or that the merchant tried to sell "that" to Rudy. . . I honestly really like Paul. Him and Rudeus are actually really similar in lots of ways. He loves his family more than anything and puts alot of weight on his shoulders so others dont have to. The way he was always holding Rudeus when he was a toddler. The fact he's dedicated to all his children - legitimate or not. And finally the fact that even whilst he was going through a bout of depression and alcoholism, made sure Norn was always happy and looked her best even if he looked like trash. I think where he really messes up is where alot of fathers do, where they end up envying their own sons talent. The way Paul treated Rudeus was terrible in the inn, but he was probably busy thinking "man if I had all of your magic, talent, intelligence and a damn Sperd at my side I'd be doing nothing but finding my family". However, that's his own personality speaking and doesn't take into consideration the feelings and personality of Rudeus. Also he horny af
Rudeus being at ground 0 of the teleportation incident had no idea that the entire Fittora region was affected he had no reason to look for his family before meeting Paul and considering how far away he was sent there would be no word for over a year.

I think Paul might actually be my favorite character of the Mushoku Tensei series. His interactions, pride, and self-doubt with particular regards to his son Rudi make him one of the most realistic and believable characters in a fantasy world that I've seen or read about... *slight spoilers* In the LN, you get to see things from Paul's perspective during Rudi's youth and learn in detail that he feels genuinely incompetent as a father who is being outsmarted and provoked by his child. I think both the interactions between Rudeus and Paul after Sylphy's introduction and when they're reunited in Millis were extremely well done in the anime in providing a family bonding experience that is rarely portrayed in isekai and has pretty much never been done with this much quality! There's actually a lot more reasons why I love his character that pertains to later on in LN volume 12-13, but it'd be way too much of a spoiler to go into :')
He is not even close of being the most degenerate character in this series(And I'm not counting Rudy and Elinalise.). Ariel would fit way better. You could put Ariel in any situation and she would find a way getting pleasy by drowning herself in C*ck and p*ssy, or toys, or random objects... or being tortured, or torturing, etc...
I admit that he is strong, but I honestly still don’t like Paul very much. There are some reasons why I do not like Paul very much since the Manga and the anime. The reason I do not like him too much is because he doesn’t see the situation too well (as mentioned, for his pride). He doesn’t see other’s POV (point of view) to even coming to a conclusion. In one scene, he blamed Rudeus for hurting some kids, but little did he know, Rudy was only saving Sylphy from other kids who were bullying Sylphy and Paul was being fuckin prideful to not even know what had happened. The next scene is obvious after the teleportation, which I was very afraid of know what will happen next. It is indeed that Paul has done his best to find everyone who were a victim to the Teleportation Incident, but he does not have the excuse to lash out at Rudy despite being under distressed. To be blunt as possible, for my point of view, he’s too narrow-minded. After every actions that he has done that is very questionable, we already know what he would look like after he understood what has actually happened, which he looks like shit.
Poor Paul receives so much hate. That thing with the bullies was one thing through the many years of being Rudeus father, the fact that he later never did that again until this incident on EP 16 should be a better indicative of who he is than his one mistake when he was a new parent. Not to mention the guy was organizing an worldwide rescue mission in order to save his family and saw a lot of shit. He did so much good, saved so many, made enemies with the rulling class of entire countries in other to save the victims of the incident and find his family. . He made mistakes, but the good he made by far surpass the bad. Not to mention that one of his main characteristics when screwing things up, is to face the consequences and fight to do better.

For my opinion in this series, I didn’t like the dad at all. For my opinion, it’s better for Rudy to be a bit degenerate than being a shut-in, which will traumatize Rudy for sure with the flashbacks. But honestly, I cannot tell if he’s better than Kazuma in Skill (obviously Kazuma wins by comedy lol)
I like the dad, granted, he screwed the maid, but at the end of it he at least took his lashings instead of making it a blame game like some nobles in history did irl, most obvious example is king henry and his 6 wives. Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived was the order they went i think.
Paul is supposed to be redeemed after episode 17. But the anime skipped practically his entire POV. The fact that he lashed out at Rudy goes to show Paul still has his flaws and people don't change that easily, but Paul is honestly a man deserving of respect. Slight spoiler, After getting married Paul hasn't laid a hand on a woman besides Zenith except his one-time affair with Lillia. He keeps that record even though Zenith was missing for years. Untill he rescues Zenith he only has sex once, which was after a succubus attack thus canonically unavoidable unless someone had used detoxification magic on him.

What Paul *does* have though is experience, which gives him a (debatable) chance against Saint-class who doesn't know much about actual combat. I don't understand why people think Paul is a bad person, he might not be a Saint but his character seems to be reliable and generous.
Yeah he does try to be better person later on in series.
People hate Paul because he abused Lilia when he was young, took advantage of Ghislaine during her reproductive period and cheated on Zenith when she was pregnant, also because of how he treats Rudeus sometimes in the series without thinking about what is happening.

He flawed as a person that is certain. He cannot keep it in his pants and made mistakes with his first born. Even so people around him trust him and he learns to be more responsible.
@@oversol5469 You are right, the problem is that the author does not treat what Paul does seriously, he puts it as if it were something glorious, an example of this is what he did with Ghislaine, he tries to put it as something cool.
