Finally someone decided to make a video of what majority people will actually buy, not just "top of the range" models. Thank you for having a common sense.
Personally, I waited until Dec 26th to buy my new F250 Lariat with the 6.7L ($8795) and Lariat Ultimate ($4280) options. Also FX4 ($295), upfitter switches ($165), Chrome package ($1125), 3.55 locking axle ($390), Ruby Red ($395) Lower Accent two tone in Caribou ($470) and the Chrome PVD 20" wheels and tires ($1240). Its sticker price was $69,270. However, at the end of the year when the next model years are coming onto the lots, you end up getting a much better price than even truck month. The dealer had it listed at $61,497. However, they were also willing to work on that price as well. When all was said and done, with taxes, dealer BS and the 72 month, 90k mile extended warranty, GAP and a few other odd bits, it was $63,498. If I had ordered this truck, I'd have only added the camera tow package. Not stressed about that because of the wireless stuff I can buy on Amazon for the fifth wheel setup which will be a few hundred cheaper than the factory option. This dealership expects me in every three years on the 26th because I've bought from them since 2009. However, with this F250, they won't see my ass again for at least 8 years barring anything happening to the new truck.
I'm glad to see the vast improvements that Ford has made to the 2017 Super Duty trucks. IMO the capability of the Ford SD's has never been in question...they build a great product. That said, however in 2015 I ordered a 2015 RAM 2500 Laramie Mega Cab after long and careful comparison and consideration. I compared the RAM to the 2015 Ford F-250 Crew Cab in the Lariat and King Ranch trim and, frankly I found the Ford to be lacking in the interior quality and back seat room when compared to the RAM. Clearly Ford got it right with the 2017 model year. I'm not in the market but I decided to stop by the Ford dealer here in town just to have a quick look - the Lariat is now up to date with high quality interior materials and components and a nice facelift. Also, I'm glad that Ford is using the same cab as found on the F-150 as it has a much roomier back seat than the SD cabs thru the 2016 model year. I found that the previous SD cab had a cramped back seat - not much leg room and a very upright seat back that I would be uncomfortable sitting in for more than an hour. I agree. I only considered the Super Duty due to the new 2017 model, thus making used Ford tuck not an option. Ram and Chevy interiors are now outdated, but probably not for long.
The diesel option is $8995 per the window sticker, not $10,000. It's also pretty easy to negotiate $7,000 to $10,000 off a fully loaded truck. Just shop around a bit and be willing to walk away from a deal. Sales people want you to buy TODAY, when you are on the lot, not in "a month or so". You can use that tactic to your advantage when you're truly ready to buy.
You say 'well, I'll think about it' and the salesman comes back with 'what will it take to make the deal now' and then you haggle. These trucks are jumping off the lot, I only got 1K extra off mine, the last fully loaded 2018 XLT in Texas... paid 55k. The dealer discount was about 6K to start. There's plenty of 2017 XL long-beds left over... if you like window cranking. KBB gives less for long beds, nobody wants to try to park a crew-cab long bed.
The reason why these trucks are becoming more and more expensive is due to all the sensors and emission crap on the truck. If you remove the prices of the parts, it would be very reasonable to own one. Thats why I'm sticking with my 07 f350. just got back from the powerstrokehelp guy in Georgia. got it all bullet/dealer proof up. I'm set.
You can. The truck I have now, I got it because I like the setup on it. I even ask Bill what he recommends for a 6.0L. He said anything after 04. I got 07 f350 drw king ranch. it had only 32k miles on it, and the previous owner kept it in the garage. Honestly, I probably didn't need to take it to Bill, but I want that extra security benefits and plus I wanted the EGR to be totally deleted. Love my f350

I haul travel trailers for a living and i always buy a fully loaded XLT every 2 years. I only like leather on my women and i'm not willing to waste money on those other options i don't need. But, i LOVE the LED headlights and tailights. Wish mine had them.
Looking to get an '18 F350, and I tell ya the incentives in my neck of the woods are ridiculously minimal. Most dealers are offering 1 to 2 thousand of the MSRP (59-61 grand). Would love to find an XLT for 50 thousand! Great video, though!
Thanks for the LED fog lights confirmation Marcos Torres. I have a 2016 F-150 Lariat with the factory LED Headlights and i`ve been looking at the Morimoto LED fog lights for the F-150`s. If I can keep my truck all Ford by using the LED fog lights from the new Super Duty Platinum and if they can bolt right up in place of the halogens then why not. Still trying to locate the part number but so far, they`re not available on the Ford parts website.
I have tried both ends of this equation . . . I bought a new F-250 Super Duty XL . . completely stripped down. Then I had the dealer add the amber L.E.D. strobes, O.E.M. fog lights and about $1,000 worth of other goodies. I tried in for a couple months and REALLY missed the power windows, locks, mirrors, BLIS and other amenities. Just took delivery of the new F-250SD Lariat last weekend and I am thrilled. I wish I'd ordered the L.E.D. headlights but it appears to be an easy, if perhaps a bit pricey, change out.
I thought about that and opted for a fully loaded XLT, in my fave color (white). Love the trailer cam, nav, BT, power mirrors, FX4, etc. If you're going, why not go big? I just don't like leather, prefer cloth.

Yes the 2017s are just too pricey! And I actually like the 16 interior better(Im probably the only one)...If you can't find what you're looking for try Phil Long Ford in Denver,Raquel Nieto very easy to deal with I had no issues working with them.
I'm sweaty too... and vinyl is much worse (for me) than cloth. The cloth lets the air in... so the sweat evaporates. Same with leather... no thanks... that's why I bought the most loaded XLT I could find, with nav, all cams, power mirrors, etc. And diesel!
The 2017 F250's have the same cab as the F150 so that's where the 4 inch gain is in the cab and seen in all the backseat leg room. That's also why the back has a flat floor as the F150's have had that for years now.
Hi JD I do like your videos very informative, I bought a 2017 F250 XLT I had two request when buying it and it took my dealer 3 days to find it, #1 I wanted a gas engine, mainly cause of the DEF system and the maintenance that is involved in it the DPF filter can cost 3 to 8 thousand dollars to clean or more to replace it, I am a truck driver and I know the headaches with DEF. # 2 requests was I wanted an 8 foot bed and all the dealerships around only have 6 foot beds. I didn’t need sync 3 display so I have the smaller screen it didn’t come with up fitters switches I have cloth sets manual 4x4 I walked out the door paying just over 39 thousand for it the sticker price was just over 46 thousand. I really like the way it handles all though the turning radius takes time to adjust for but I’am use to not turning on a dime being a trucker, if you find a 5 th trailer that’s about 30 to 35 foot long and not as tall as I’ve been seeing and not a bunk house I would like to see you do a review on one. Beautiful truck, my only issue is how you have to work on them with some issues it can get very costly, our 6.7 work truck had a exhaust leak it coated tons just in labor and due to having to pretty much take the truck apart we couldn't do it (lifting body(
If I'd gone with Ford it's still going to be a base model probably XL STX package with front bench seats and 4WD, to me that's the epitome of a truck modern features you'll get to use and enjoy.
You'll want power package... you'll want FX4... I wanted a fully loaded XLT with bench, ended up getting the last one in the area, it has console... but I wanted cloth, no leather. Power mirrors, nav, power drivers seat... the best is the camera system... try before you buy.
Man, I'm getting ready to order my F450, and was hoping the XLT premium package that mentions the 8" screen would mean the 8" dash/gauges screen that you get in the lariat... but no such luck :(

See if they will let you test a LED truck compared to a halogen truck lighting wise. No one has done that I have seen yet. I have a lariat Ultimate and it did not come with the Led lights. In reality I do not like how the led lights look when they are off but on that is a different story. I did replace the stock lights with Piaa dot high output extreme white and they made a very big difference.
Driving behind the new body f-250 the other day I was wondering why the new body style looks anorexic? It looks like Ford shaved off a foot from the width of the body compared to the 2016s and previous trucks. Anyone know what's up with that?? Specs??

60k for an XLT version had my jaw kind of drop for a minute, but I hadn't looked up the pricing for the new models this year and forgot about the upgrades that comes with the 2017 model. Looks like I'll have to keep looking for a 2016 used model or go for the gas xlt 2017
It's now 2021 and I had to go with a gas 2018 F250 XLT with 79k on the odometer. still cost 36k... My house didn't cost what a new pickup costs now. I bought my first nice truck in 1990, it was an 88 Chevy Silverado with 45k on the clock and cost me 9k I wasn't sure how I could make the payments!
Man I really want everything the lariat has but I was cloth seats. Would it be cheaper to just fully load out an xlt? Also do they come with black interior or an I just screwed with grey?
Look for a loaded XLT... s'what I did. Got all the power mirror, 8" nav, ultimate trailer cam, all that stuff with the cloth I prefer for 55k out the door. Lucky me it was in the color (white) I wanted... pretty much the only XLT with 18K in upgrades in TX at the time. No cloth in black... light or dark grey only... with black carpet. Get the Husky floor mats!
Regarding the truck month, could you provide a little more info from past experience, that would be great. Is that kind of incentive offered from Ford or individual dealership? Right now Ford only gives 1000. Does Ford offer more $$$ during truck month? Thanks!
better slc: generally Ford offers between $2000-4000 during truck month and the dealership matches and can push it up significantly higher if pressured. There are some dealers that will do more than others. Not sure how the 2017 is going to be offered since it's a completely new Platform

Bought mine from Mac Haik Georgetown... in May 2018. They came down 1K... I got the last loaded XLT in Central TX. May is when Ford closes down the model year... anything you order from then on is next year's.
Don't forget. There is a huge difference in lariat packages. You can get a ultimate lariat and a non ultimate lariat. I bought the non ultimate lariat. So I have leather. Heated and cooled seats. Navigation. All the goodys. But I don't have the led head lights. Lighted cup holders, sun roof and push button start. And the non ultimate is 4 grand less the ultimate lariat. Something to look at.

Big truck in this comparison you did not show the sticker on the Lariat to compare. If the sticker wasn't there get a shot of the vin # and Dealer name and we can look up the window sticker.
I went for the xlt and got everything but leather seats. I'm not spending a extra 10k on leather seats. Hell I can buy seats and have them put in alot cheaper than that. Love my truck though. Tows like a fucking champ
how come you looked at the upper trim level fords, but only rolled threw for one base model chevy/gm? or did I miss a video? would be nice to see a video of you doing a video on trim levels on all three brands ford, dodge and chevy/gm, then maybe have a comparison chart at the end of a video, but I find the "man" step and easy open tail gates funny, it's more like options to help out the women buyers if ya ask me
Patrick Wong: I think men that use their truck beds a lot appreciate the man step more than those who like pretty trucks that are lifted and only good for looking good. If you have a man step it generally means that you use your bed more than perhaps someone who orders the truck without one. And most of the people who comment negatively about it Have never tried using it.
Taylor Klein: you are absolutely correct. It's also great when loading big heavy items like furniture because you can simply step up with it rather than loading the edge on the tailgate, then getting into the truck and picking it up again.

No not on these bud. These have Led's on the fog lamps too. The only thing that i can think of that is halogen or at least still looks halogen is the bulbs when you open the sun visor mirrors.
Riley Brooks: I would bet that each headlight probably runs between $2000 and $3000. It would probably be cheaper just to opt for a lower model lariat package with the LED light package added
this was the best deal I could get after visiting 4 ford dealers...payments are 887 a month ...some were in the 900s and one dealer wanted 1,033 a month payment
Alan Pattee: well the 2017 super duty definitely went up in price by about 15%. If you don't need or care for the features that were added in 2017 then I would highly suggest a 2016 because of all the incentives that dealers are trying to offer to clear them off the lot. Just remember any current diesel will hold it's value exceptionally well as long as it's kept in good shape.
Plus the "don't buy the 1st year of a new model" because they have not had a chance to work the bugs out. Pricing is generally better on last year models when there isn't that great a difference in the truck from year to year but even better in this case because of the dramatic remodel. This is of course all dependent on your negotiating skills.
Look into getting a 4x2 with an E-Locker. You can lock both rear wheels together in slick situations. Typically, a 4x2 only has one drive wheel and a 4x4 has one drive wheel in front and one in back. Having lockers on your diffs will ensure you actually have all four wheels moving at the same time in 4x4. And both rear wheel will lock if you have a 4x2.

@@APGJuggernaut Your F-150 isn't a 2017 F250 Super Duty. This video is about the Super Duty. Super Duty's FX4 package doesn't include an e locker. The FX4 package includes only 4 things for ~$400 MSRP: hill descent, skid plates, supposed off road shocks, and a sticker. That's it. E-Locker is its own option. F-150 is a completely different model of truck and it's quite likely that its set of option are different from the SD line of trucks.
Bill Dingo I bought literally the same XLT in this video (FX4 with White Gold Convenience Package Powerstroke etc) for less money and more options than the GMC 2500 I looked at
I don't know who you're getting your pricing info from, but if you're going diesel, the comparably equipped Ram or Chevy is quite a bit more than the Ford. I just spent six months researching and comparing F250 to Chevy and Dodge 2500's and I would have paid at least $5k more for the Chevy and almost $9k more for the Dodge.
how can u call that a man step men that drive trucks would not use that I'm pretty sure that was put in the tailgate for kids & women I feel sorry for any one that's a man and uses that step unless your old & full of arthritis.
When a young man works his body so hard for so many years and is able to save up money to get a truck like this. His sore knees, back and yes arthritis compounded by auto immune disease yet he keeps trying to work through it to support his family. This is a man that appreciates a man step.
The bed is like four feet up... you literally can't climb in the bed on level ground without either leaving it closed or going in on your belly. The old step was crappy, this one is super cool.

I picked up my gas burner '17 XLT CC in early June. Was listed right at 50K. Thought about the 6.7 too but for almost 10K more i passed. the 6.2L gas burner is a good engine from what i hear. Only have 5K on it so far and getting 16MPG unloaded on highway at 60-65mph.
Every truck should come standard with a spray in bed liner. Just as important as tow mirrors

Is it just me or did they completely skip the point of the video? It turned into the price points of the diesel vs gas, not xlt vs lariat.

The vinyl seat is not the same seat padding wise as the cloth and leather. Less comfortable on a longer drive. Keep that in mind too

you can turn a XLT package to a Lariat with for less than what you would pay for premium lariat
the seat upgrade is where they get you, my truck is an xlt with everything a lariat has but the leather seats

The 2017 F250's have the same cab as the F150 so that's where the 4 inch gain is in the cab and seen in all the backseat leg room. That's also why the back has a flat floor as the F150's have had that for years now.

Hi JD I do like your videos very informative, I bought a 2017 F250 XLT I had two request when buying it and it took my dealer 3 days to find it, #1 I wanted a gas engine, mainly cause of the DEF system and the maintenance that is involved in it the DPF filter can cost 3 to 8 thousand dollars to clean or more to replace it, I am a truck driver and I know the headaches with DEF.
# 2 requests was I wanted an 8 foot bed and all the dealerships around only have 6 foot beds. I didn’t need sync 3 display so I have the smaller screen it didn’t come with up fitters switches I have cloth sets manual 4x4 I walked out the door paying just over 39 thousand for it the sticker price was just over 46 thousand. I really like the way it handles all though the turning radius takes time to adjust for but I’am use to not turning on a dime being a trucker, if you find a 5 th trailer that’s about 30 to 35 foot long and not as tall as I’ve been seeing and not a bunk house I would like to see you do a review on one. If I'd gone with Ford it's still going to be a base model probably XL STX package with front bench seats and 4WD, to me that's the epitome of a truck modern features you'll get to use and enjoy.
You'll want power package... you'll want FX4... I wanted a fully loaded XLT with bench, ended up getting the last one in the area, it has console... but I wanted cloth, no leather. Power mirrors, nav, power drivers seat... the best is the camera system... try before you buy.

Man, I'm getting ready to order my F450, and was hoping the XLT premium package that mentions the 8" screen would mean the 8" dash/gauges screen that you get in the lariat... but no such luck :(
These is a place online that will sell that cluster to ya.. they are out of stock though. I have the XLT with the 8" screen and not the cluster you spoke of :(
See if they will let you test a LED truck compared to a halogen truck lighting wise. No one has done that I have seen yet. I have a lariat Ultimate and it did not come with the Led lights. In reality I do not like how the led lights look when they are off but on that is a different story. I did replace the stock lights with Piaa dot high output extreme white and they made a very big difference.
Driving behind the new body f-250 the other day I was wondering why the new body style looks anorexic? It looks like Ford shaved off a foot from the width of the body compared to the 2016s and previous trucks. Anyone know what's up with that?? Specs??

60k for an XLT version had my jaw kind of drop for a minute, but I hadn't looked up the pricing for the new models this year and forgot about the upgrades that comes with the 2017 model. Looks like I'll have to keep looking for a 2016 used model or go for the gas xlt 2017
It's now 2021 and I had to go with a gas 2018 F250 XLT with 79k on the odometer. still cost 36k... My house didn't cost what a new pickup costs now. I bought my first nice truck in 1990, it was an 88 Chevy Silverado with 45k on the clock and cost me 9k I wasn't sure how I could make the payments!

Look for a loaded XLT... s'what I did. Got all the power mirror, 8" nav, ultimate trailer cam, all that stuff with the cloth I prefer for 55k out the door. Lucky me it was in the color (white) I wanted... pretty much the only XLT with 18K in upgrades in TX at the time. No cloth in black... light or dark grey only... with black carpet. Get the Husky floor mats!
Regarding the truck month, could you provide a little more info from past experience, that would be great. Is that kind of incentive offered from Ford or individual dealership? Right now Ford only gives 1000. Does Ford offer more $$$ during truck month? Thanks!
better slc: generally Ford offers between $2000-4000 during truck month and the dealership matches and can push it up significantly higher if pressured. There are some dealers that will do more than others. Not sure how the 2017 is going to be offered since it's a completely new Platform

Bought mine from Mac Haik Georgetown... in May 2018. They came down 1K... I got the last loaded XLT in Central TX. May is when Ford closes down the model year... anything you order from then on is next year's.
Don't forget. There is a huge difference in lariat packages. You can get a ultimate lariat and a non ultimate lariat. I bought the non ultimate lariat. So I have leather. Heated and cooled seats. Navigation. All the goodys. But I don't have the led head lights. Lighted cup holders, sun roof and push button start. And the non ultimate is 4 grand less the ultimate lariat. Something to look at.

i just bought a f150 Fx4 XLT and added the leather and extra accessories that the lariat package has for less money that a lariat would have.
I would definitely do this but I would miss my A/C seats too much! I'm stuck with a Lariat.

Big truck in this comparison you did not show the sticker on the Lariat to compare. If the sticker wasn't there get a shot of the vin # and Dealer name and we can look up the window sticker.

I went for the xlt and got everything but leather seats. I'm not spending a extra 10k on leather seats. Hell I can buy seats and have them put in alot cheaper than that. Love my truck though. Tows like a fucking champ

If you have a man step it generally means that you use your bed more than perhaps someone who orders the truck without one. And most of the people who comment negatively about it Have never tried using it.

The fogs are halogen, only the headlights and taillights are LED.

No not on these bud. These have Led's on the fog lamps too. The only thing that i can think of that is halogen or at least still looks halogen is the bulbs when you open the sun visor mirrors.

this was the best deal I could get after visiting 4 ford dealers...payments are 887 a month ...some were in the 900s and one dealer wanted 1,033 a month payment

Alan Pattee: well the 2017 super duty definitely went up in price by about 15%. If you don't need or care for the features that were added in 2017 then I would highly suggest a 2016 because of all the incentives that dealers are trying to offer to clear them off the lot. Just remember any current diesel will hold it's value exceptionally well as long as it's kept in good shape.
Plus the "don't buy the 1st year of a new model" because they have not had a chance to work the bugs out. Pricing is generally better on last year models when there isn't that great a difference in the truck from year to year but even better in this case because of the dramatic remodel. This is of course all dependent on your negotiating skills.

Look into getting a 4x2 with an E-Locker. You can lock both rear wheels together in slick situations.
Typically, a 4x2 only has one drive wheel and a 4x4 has one drive wheel in front and one in back. Having lockers on your diffs will ensure you actually have all four wheels moving at the same time in 4x4. And both rear wheel will lock if you have a 4x2.
My '17 SD XLT CC SB has that feature. I can go 2WD with both rear wheels like a rear posi.

Really, I know its a different model, but my FX4 F-150 definitely came with an E-locker
@@APGJuggernaut Your F-150 isn't a 2017 F250 Super Duty. This video is about the Super Duty. Super Duty's FX4 package doesn't include an e locker. The FX4 package includes only 4 things for ~$400 MSRP: hill descent, skid plates, supposed off road shocks, and a sticker. That's it. E-Locker is its own option.
F-150 is a completely different model of truck and it's quite likely that its set of option are different from the SD line of trucks.

Spartan 212 my 2016 6.7 F 250 gets 13 mpg in the city and 17 on the highway. Around 10.5 mpg towing my 32’ bumper pull
I'm averaging around 17.5 with 3:55 gears ...mix driving...but that's not towing

I don't know who you're getting your pricing info from, but if you're going diesel, the comparably equipped Ram or Chevy is quite a bit more than the Ford. I just spent six months researching and comparing F250 to Chevy and Dodge 2500's and I would have paid at least $5k more for the Chevy and almost $9k more for the Dodge.

When a young man works his body so hard for so many years and is able to save up money to get a truck like this. His sore knees, back and yes arthritis compounded by auto immune disease yet he keeps trying to work through it to support his family. This is a man that appreciates a man step.
The bed is like four feet up... you literally can't climb in the bed on level ground without either leaving it closed or going in on your belly. The old step was crappy, this one is super cool.
It's been over a year and you still can't get near $10k off a XLT. You may be able to get close to $10k off a $78k Platinum.

I picked up my gas burner '17 XLT CC in early June. Was listed right at 50K. Thought about the 6.7 too but for almost 10K more i passed. the 6.2L gas burner is a good engine from what i hear. Only have 5K on it so far and getting 16MPG unloaded on highway at 60-65mph.
