    B) she was the only one who see him as a person, and the whole american psycho persona was an escapism for Patrick to stop being a grey suit from the many. She see her as an individum, so killing her wouldn't make him more individual, it woul make him less

I have the same theory. The Patrick Bateman character is a paranoid schizophrenic. This is obvious. The killings are just fantasies in his head and the movie skirts between reality and PB's delusions. The biggest tell of this is the scene with the realtor. She is is part of reality and part of his delusion is having killed Paul Allen.

The phone call knocked his "momentum" off and saved her life. If she stayed he would have killed her. It wasn't empathy that he was feeling. It was just a temporary state of mental sobriety from the awful blood lust that many psychopaths and serial killers describe. Sort of like how some people need a lot of foreplay before the real action begins, except the call from his girlfriend ruined the moment for himself. There are several accounts of real serial killers picking up girls hitchhiking or around women in vulnerable situations and for whatever reason they help them instead of killing them like they do the rest. Their state of mind shifted that night or something about the potential victim took them out of their typical blood lust state of mind. This scene is a similar situation, except for Patrick it was his girlfriends voice, it probably depresses him to hear her voice because she reminds him of how empty and shallow his real relationship is with her. It spoiled the fun for him and he's left to sit and reflect in a state of nihilistic introspection at his hollow life.

I think its more along the lines of, the phone call ruined the mood rather than caring for her. Maybe he was worried about getting caught since reality hit with the phone call that his whereabouts at the time were known. idk just cant really see caring coming into it with him. "meaningful" relationship for him is murdering.

You're thinking about it too much. It's hard to find a good secretary

Why is no one talking about how hilarious it is for him to say he wants a meaningful relationship with someone special while holding a nail gun to her head

I think its because he knew she cared for him & he himself wanted her for her genuiness as compared to the others. But as soon as his fiance called, you can see his sadness realization that he couldnt be with her & chose to conform to the "yuppie" life style.

It isn’t her that changed him. He’s a psycho. He killed and innocent dog for gods sake. She ain’t special. He was just caught off guard

Took me a long time growing up understanding why it seemed like lots of women were attracted to the most dangerous guys, and it's not because they're actually attracted to them a dangerous guy that will fuck up your life and the guy that's dangerous to anybody that will try to fuck with you look very similar the one that will fuck you up just as much as the people that try to mess with you are just a little bit more outgoing or examples of good ones are very far and in between so a lot of times you get mixed up. I'm still trying to figure out what is the male equivalent of this

He was judging her every action studying her wanting to know if she was like all the others who were soulless and weren't special but was a carbon copy of a copy.
