I found this to be a great bargin and EV. I was lucky enough to get a fully loaded (HUD, 3rd row, driver's assistance, wood, Burmester, etc) EQE300 4Matic for $20K off, 2 years free charging, maintenance, portable level 2 charger and a mercedes level 2 wall charger, and standard charger on a lease for well under $700/month. People get hung up on range, but most people aren't driving 300-400 miles a day. To go to work and back, some errands, etc I still have over 40% on my battery by the end of the weekend. Perfect for me!
Man your comments and observation are really spot on. The conclusion is also spot on for a new car, but it is definitely a catch after the EV depreciation.
Just got one as a loaner from the dealership. The drive is brisk and surprisingly quick. Wasn't even aware of the non-extendable sun visor. My old 2009 ML has extendable sun visor flaps so not sure what Mercedes was thinking mucking around with the visors. Took a full 52 minutes to charge from 20% to 100%. Not good.
It seems based on the nominal capacity that the range is decent. 245/66 means a cruising efficiency of about 3.7 which is decent for a box on wbeels. My bZ can't achieve that unless its quite warm and hvac is set low. Matter of fact I just drove across CA and north bound through the valley over 200mi I got 3.5 with no HVAC at all. Temps were 62-73° F.
In my country it's the cheapest non-Chinese EV 7 seater on offer. I am really considering getting one. I am a little concerned about how fast the battery may degrade and make the range short. I would really like to be able to go at least 200 miles or 300 km on a full charge for more than a couple of years. I don't know how long it takes an EV to lose 20-30% of its range.
I think you'll be fine... for reference, my 2015 Tesla battery degraded from about 270 miles of range to 220 in 6 years with 100k miles on it, and of course this is a much newer vehicle
It’s a nice car and it’s a Mercedes: for all those who can’t stand Musk or the business practices of Tesla. I liked driving it. Definitely nicer than Model 3 or Model Y. Liked it more than the KIA EV6 or Hyundai IONIC5.
I get 450 km range out of my 250+ variant of this car if I let the automation handle the speed and stick to the speed limits at all times on a variation of city, countryside and highway driving. It’s better than my friends’ Tesla standard range model 3
The EQB is very nice, but unfortunately, a very dismal range of 221 to 245 miles of range. This range is not good for interstate road trips. That will make us spend so much time at a charging station instead of continuous travel. If the range will be offered at a minimum of 350 miles on a single charge perhaps I would consider it.
What should be possible to do, is to permanently disconnect the lane assist and phone function in my profile. As it is now, you have to deactivate those functions each time you start the car. It is very anoying since I start the car approx 15 times during my shift.. I only need the media function from my phone and the phone function in my earpiece.
Excellent and honest review! I have an EQB 350 and love it, but it's not a car I would recommend to people because of its shortcomings as an EV and the steep price. But overall I love the design, it's a great place to be in, it's practical and nice to drive.
A 100kw charging?! Wtf? Mercedes that’s just unacceptable both for your price range and current competition in technology. That’s a big oof right out the starting line.
What is the real world difference between that rate and something more competitive like the peak 190kw of some Audi products? Is the charging curve flatter perhaps, or how much additional time would one need if both were maxing out between 10-80%?
The backseats are the only thing I like but no screen in the back, no fast charging, and that outdated styling, what year is this? Mercedes has always been too expensive, mostly ugly, but has never been my cup of tea. And since BMW went all in on the hideous kidney bean grill I’ve just lost interest. The GV 60 is just a better car in so many ways… sadly. However you could review drying paint and I would watch it. You been working out?
I actually like the styling of the GLB which this is based on (especially the AMG models). Think it’s one of the better looking options in the segment, though this EV’s smoothing of some of its contours seems to curb my enthusiasm for it.

Depends who buys it for what purpose and also where you live. So I don’t care if you love it or not, it suits my needs
That’s the beauty of editorial. It’s opinion based. That’s what a review is.

Exactly, I'm about to get a used 2023 for 27,000. Total steal!

typically you don't charge to 100%. No vehicle charges quickly to 100%.

@@thelarry383 Hyundai, Kia, Tesla charges 10 to 80% in about 20 mins, and they can go little less than 300 or more than 300mi

To put it gently, Musk gives me the creeps. It is one of the reasons how unimpressed I am about Tesla.
@zetros8104 honestly this is the reason I am watching the reviews for the EQB. I don't want to give Tesla any more business.
What issues do you see with the business practices of Tesla?
Here looking for a replacement for my model 3 and agree!
250+ is what Europe sells has more range. Plus an update will be released in march which fixes some issues
That one is a complete dud to drive though

The EQB is a ton of fun to DRIVE. My favorite MB actually.
Charging speed issue or not a big deal?

Funnily enough, it looks pretty decent in person. On camera it looks doofy AF.

Nice review, at times was a bit nit-picky but very nice overall.
In the luxury space it’s easier to pick nits because they should be better cars than mainstream.
Does battery drain out faster if it’s hot weather? I’m working 13hrs at work and my car in parking lot under the Sun.
The batteries run better and get better range the warmer the weather.
i appreciate the very conclusive title, i like

Yeah if this guy is only looking at bang for buck, sure get another tesla with an iPad slapped on the dash like everyone else.
I would get this over a model y

The EQB is just designed to be a less expensive vehicle (especially in Europe).

The charge time is a lie. 20% to 70% in 1 hour 10 minutes.
On which charger? Kitchen plug-in?
