Many, many decades ago my father would make wine. Every Autumn a freight train with grapes would come to town, and the folks in town town that made wine would go pick up their grapes. They came in these boxes made of wood, from California I think. My father had a press like this. It was bigger. It sat on legs that were higher, so you could put a bigger container under it. I remember his press being all iron. Dad was a welder and blacksmith and had access to machinists. Now I am not sure if he bought it or made it himself, or replaced the wood on it with iron. He had a side business making wrought iron railings. I really wish I had kept his wine making equipment. Even if I never used it. It would have been nice to have it now. As I watched this video, I thought of my father. He would have been a bit angry to see the condition somebody let this press end up in, before you brought it back to life. Even though his equipment was used every year, he kept it in tip top shape. It would have been the 1960s and 1970s when he was wine making.
That’s a grape renovation! I could even bear a longer video lol Also love the noise symphony, it binds the project together. Keep it going and good job!
You're back! Yay! Seriously, you were gone for way too long! The restoration? Nice job saving the wood. That's half the project. Good to have you back, and nicely done on the grape press. 👍
this restoration video is absolutely fantastic! The attention to detail and the transformation of that is impressive. It's clear that a lot of effort and skill went into this project. Great job! 👏
Wonderful transformation! Love your videos and amazing finds to bring back to life! It’s beautiful work! Thank you for continuing to inspire and make / restore these old historic items giving them new life.
I absolutely love your videos! A couple of things though, when you take things apart it stresses me out because I always think "what if he can't get it back together" 😂 and secondly, I could seriously watch you sand blasting all day. It's so relaxing to watch!! Maybe a second channel with you just sand blasting sped up would be an idea 🤭 I'm only kidding. Love it though.
It always worth the time to watch your videos. Your restorations are always top quality and, in my humble opinion, the only restoration channel on TH-cam that overpass your work is MyMechanics. Great job as always, and nice gummy bear 👍.
I hate to think what that old red colour was made from, certainly did not seem like iron oxide🙈 with everything that could have seeped into that wood over the years, I'm amazed you trusted it!
I like these kinds of videos, but I think this guy's are the best! Good audio, good visuals, good editing, and he picks good projects and lets spontaneous things happen! Such a good channel 👏
Glorious work, marvelous watch! One particular feedback: I love restoration vids, over 5 yrs I saw 100ds + I cut and post process videos as well. I really love when I see new cuts and camera effects, creative ideas (I thought I saw it all already :D ). In this vid I found plenty. Very good work sir, thank you for what you do and HOW you do it 🙏
I'm always fascinated with how creatively you solve all the problems you come across in these restorations 😦 You're a true master! If you don't mind, may I ask how old you are?
Il donne tellement envie ce petit ours en gelatine au raisin ! J'ai bien aimé les différentes prises de vue, ça fait très varié ! Ça doit être un sacré travail d'y penser ! Bravo encore =)
Just thinking, rather than using wax to fill the holes I would have saved some of the sawdust from the sanding down of the wooden slats and mixed it with a little clear epoxy resin or wood glue, then used this mixture as a filler. In that way the holes would become pretty much invisible. Great job you did on this piece, though. Enjoyed watching
Great, now my four year old wants a giant gummy bear. And an antique grape press. And also a Dremel, lol.
🤣🤣🤣 Could be worse, at least he doesn't want a hooker and some crack.
Lucky you, mine wants a sandblasting cabinet.
Well I have no children, it's me who wants it...

Lmao
As a vineyard owner and wine producer this warmed my heart. Thanks so much for restoring this!

You are my genuine favourite among many restorationist channels. I'm so glad to see you still about and bringing us these delightful videos~
Using a soldering iron to melt the furniture wax was a pretty smart idea over using a lighter. Less mess/waste and way greater precision.
I absolutely loved that, and will definitely do the same thing next time I'm working with wax. It's going to be so much cleaner and easier!
Now where My Mechanics have become a car channel OTND is the only game left for old school ASMR resto goodness.
Tysytube Restoration is a great channel as well, very similar to this one.
Tysytube rn: 😢
I love how sometimes this turns into a cooking channel, great vid!

Хорошая работа. Просто красиво и профессианально...👍👍👍
How to summon every ant and bee in a 50km radius.
But a top notch restoration regardless
So glad to see you back. I was getting worried about you. ❤. As always, A wonderful restoration of a very interesting item.👍
Thank you for saving as much of the original wood as you could. That's the whole idea of a restoration. It's a restoration not a replacement.
The results are sweet!
Hello mister beautiful restoration beautifully restored good job well done
