It's been running under various banners and makes for more than 50 years? That's news to me, being unfamiliar with Formula 1's nuances and all.
The Tyrell team was one of the most successful team in the Formula 1 history.

I was watching "Rush" with my friend, and he called the "Tyrrell" team "ELF."
I was about to slap him in the mouth.
A few days later, after I explained that the team was called "Tyrrell" and not "ELF", he said that "Williams" was "Tyrrell" because of the "ELF" logo. Smh smh smh!!!

My earliest memories as a kid of F1 was the Tyrrell Elf car. To me, that WAS F1.
The yellow in the p34 livery is because the original plan was for Renault to design an engine to power it.
Nice pick up. I wasn't aware of that.
So in 1984, Tyrrell had one car in maroon and the other one black as their main bodywork colours.
Come 1999 when BAR tried it the FIA said "nope, they have to be the same."
Plus it seems the only consistent thing about Tyrrell was that they always wore numbers 3 and 4 on their cars from 1974 to 1995 when they changed the system.
I Love the tyrrell designs of the 90s - the 019 and in particular the 020 which for me is one of the best looking designs ive ever seen
What did Tyrrell have such a hard time with sponsors? Seems they’ve had it rougher than other teams on retaining.
Sean Smith my guess is that Ken Tyrrell focused much more on the technical side of things, and not the marketing side of things, which became increasingly important starting in the 1980’s. Same can be said for Williams, though they were a powerhouse until losing their BMW partnership in 2005.
It truly marks the amateur nature of the sport then, compared to today's corporate F1 feeling.
Colin Chapman said once: it’s a mystery, it’s like they went from 1970 to 1990 and forgot the 1980s“ The other thing was he was too proud to hire pay drivers as he valued skill, which isn’t the best if u wanna stay afloat.

What a coincidence that Braun had been a title sponsor of Tyrrell, given how Tyrrell became BAR became Honda became....BRAWN.

I have a Braun Tyrell Honda watch loved Tyrell, gave up on F1 when they sold up.

I read once that the yellow stripe and numbers on the 1976 P34 were because Tyrrell had a deal to put Renault engines in the car but it fell through.
I can't find where I read that though. Anyone else know anything about it?

Can we just talk about the fact that Tyrrell used 3 and 4 as their race numbers for almost their entire existence as a constructor tho?
That is very interesting. I thought racing numbers in F1 were to correspond with where that driver ranked in the previous years championship..?
@@blackbirdsr71 that only happened after 1995. Before that, the numbering system was different, and turned really messy. It was to sort of turn numbers into that team's numbers, like 27 and 28 being Ferrari numbers, 3 and 4 being Tyrrell numbers, and so on.
Love theese videos I have a suggestion. How about an alfa romeo livery history since is like renault teams that had various stints in f1 best wishes from Uruguay
