    I bought the Hyperkin in 2022. My colors are NOT bright and over saturated. I can see the detailed of the turtles logo clearly. I also can’t see that distortion effect around Leonardo up close. Hyperkin must have made a revision at some point to their hardware.
    The box design does NOT have the creased corner that Hyperkin first did when this system came out. When picking one up, look for a box with no creased corners.
    Note I am playing the Japanese version of TMNT 4 and play on an OLED screen

    First off, this is a great video and I appreciate all the work you put into it. I got my Hyperkin Supa Retron yesterday and naturally, this was the first game I tried. I was thrilled at what I saw. All the details in the Turtles IV logo looked good and it wasn't a green blob like I saw on here. Also, the 1up and 2 up turtle faces were blinking and smiling like they should be. They weren't blurry at all. The color palette seems close enough to me. The build quality and controllers are great. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this clone console.

    i love my trio +, my only beef with it is the snes audio having that what i guess is a little distortion from being loud

    • @ootwii
      @ootwii 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The retron 3 tri system i bought had same snes audio prob..looks like they just repackaged a retron 3 in a super retro trio case..

  • @WhatsOnMyShelf
    @WhatsOnMyShelf 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I agree. All three systems blow out colors and blur the edges of images horribly.
    The retrobit sounds fuzzy like it's compressing the audio.
    The gamerz tek sounds noticeably sharper. It sounds better.
    The Hyperkin by far sounds the best of these three, but it's a little off. The noise channel sounds wrong.

  • @meetoo594
    @meetoo594 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The hyperkin has the best audio, its in stereo and doesnt sound as harsh as the other 2. The trio looks like its running slower in the comparison, the other 2 remain in sync with each other but the trio lags behind by a few frames.

  • @EmperorOfTigers
    @EmperorOfTigers 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    In my opinion all three systems are good and there are reasons for picking up each one but my choice from best to worst is.
    Hyperkin,
    Retro Bit,
    Gamerz Tek.
    The Hyperkin and Retro Bit systems both sound really good. Hyperkin is slightly quieter but it doesn't matter both are clear and nice to the ears. The Gamerz Tek system sounds really harsh on the ears in my opinion though so the clear loser in audio for me.
    As for video they are all over saturated so none of them are that great in that way. Colour wise I actually like the Hyperkin best as the colours are very vivid and strong which feels much closer to my RGB SNES on my CRT. The slight blur effect is really hard to notice unless close up and when the picture is still it's actually the sharpest of all. The Retro Bit isn't as vivid but it's the next most colorful and pretty sharp too. The Gamerz Tek is too dull and has inaccurate colors and it's burry. It's the worst one in everyway I think.
    So overall I would say the Retro bit might be good if you want all three systems it offers but if your happy with just SNES the Hyperkin is the best pick.

      @DrLoomis666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      the hyperkin is by bar the worse, the games look far to over saturated and washed out and that is not they way they are suppose to look, it is way off, the other 2 are much more accurate. the reason the other 2 consoles look so close is because they are both very close to looking just right but the hyperkin is a mess horrible to look at

    • @EmperorOfTigers
      @EmperorOfTigers 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Boogeyman Well that's your opinion and you're completely welcome to feel that way however I disagree. They are all oversaturated so that's not really a thing to compare much. Also with the colours you might find the Hyperkins more accurate if you see a SNES with RGB. The others look more like composite video colors.

    • @DrLoomis666
      @DrLoomis666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      man you are way off, type turtles in time smes rgb into youtube and you will see they look nothing like that when using an rgb snes unless its a very bad rgb cable, the rgb snes consoles running turtles in time are not washed out and very very bright like the hyperkin, they look much different and much more natural. th-cam.com/video/ksefN5H1zHA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/lqa6hvPkKaE/w-d-xo.html

    • @DrLoomis666
      @DrLoomis666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      why do you think he had so many comments on his last video of people saying how wrong the hyperkin colors were and how much over saturated they look. its because the other 2 consoles look much closer to the intended look of the game. he even says so himself in this video.if you like the look of the hyperkin thats fair enough we all have different tastes but it does not change the fact that the hyperkin look is the 1 that is further from the original look of the game, if you go back to the video of it you will see a lot of people saying the same thing in the comments about how wrong it looks, the other 2 look much nicer than the over saturated look. its almost like putting your tv picture settings to vivid and saying it looks better also

    • @EmperorOfTigers
      @EmperorOfTigers 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Boogeyman That's because most US players that are watching this don't own a Original SNES with RGB. Plus just because someone says something in the TH-cam comments it doesn't mean it's true.

    Another interesting video that you could make like this would be one with the following NES consoles:
    Top-Left corner - Old Skool Classiq 2 HD
    Top-Right corner - Hyperkin Retron 3 HD
    Bottom-Left corner - Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio 3 Plus
    Bottom-Right corner - Gamerz-Tek Super HD-2

    Beware of the SRT+, they have a habit of becoming defective after a while for no apparent reason. Mine ran fine for several years, then all of the sudden, the Genesis part would stop working (green screen being output only). I researched online and apparently, other people experienced this too. That said, the aspect ratio on HDMI is not pixel perfect for SNES and the sound quality is poor. Many Super Famicom games don't play (region error message displayed), even with the correct region set. I contacted support about that back then, never got an answer. On the plus side, I found input lag is basically non existant on my Sony TV, however, there was noticable input lag when first testing it with an older TV. So YMMV. I recommend getting a real SNES/NES/Genesis console or picking up a single-system clone from another manufacturer.

    The Super NT will likely be the best when it comes out.

      Dazdigo No doubt about that. I still like looking at these other systems because not everyone will want to pay that price. I mean I did but thats me LOL.

      @Gustavo M. Out of all these the only one I kept was the Retro Trio+ probably chose that over everything because it was 3 in 1. But I rarely use it.. My kids do sometimes though.

    I think the gamerz Tek might be the better of the SNES clones. The video is not perfect, the black are not black but there isn't the visual noise and the audio is better than the Hyperkin. Of course with the retro trio it's not really a SNES, but you get more, but it costs more. So maybe between those two. I don't know. I could see some one preferring any of the three. Good review! Thanks for making a good one.

    • @WhatsOnMyShelf
      @WhatsOnMyShelf 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're going for sharper, louder sounds, then the gamerz tek at first sounds better, but the Hyperkin is more accurate to an original SNES. Just raise the volume when you play it.

    Trio + has no aspect ratio, no 4:3 option. I think this is a huge miss on their part. I'm going for the Gamerz Tek Super HD2

    What about the Genesis slot, should I wait for the Hyperkin Mega Retron? I’m not really interested in the SNES (Super NT) or NES (Hacked Classic) slots in the Retro Trio. BTW, the work you put in shows, great video!

    Grab a classiq 2 hd from ebay there only 69.99 or even 64.99 on classiq 2 website!! Id be curious to see how it sounds too! You always do great review vids on the clones. I was gonna buy a retro trio plus but upon hearing the gross overly loud audio on the snes side ill pass. I am curious to see you do a classiq 2 hd and compare how the snes and nes compare to these clones.

    Hyperkin look far worst, waving artifact around the character when you move it's a sign of a really bad scaler inside.

    the retro bit one does seem to be better than all the rest... but the real test for each will be how the pin connectors hold up ... at the price point for each folks arent gonna want to be replacing them every two months or struggling with it to get it to work...

      Didn't plan on it, would of loved to test it out and compare but it wasn't really on my radar. May change in the near future if I can get one for a reasonable price. The Super NT is rite around the corner so thats the next big SNES clone im concerned with covering.

    • @VOAN
      @VOAN 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's $70 same as the Hyperkin one, only thing is that unlike the Hyperkin Supa Retron HD, it's a 2-in-1 so it's better value but since you already got the SR3+ it's best to skipped it. I heard mix stuff about that one and the fact that the dusk cover on that thing failed to fall in place. I too am looking forward to the Analog Super Nt.
