    I just want you to know that after 2 years, as a forehand player trying to better my backhand, this video literally saved my game. I have gone through hundreds of videos from pros and "bigger" accounts and I have been on the brink of madness trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with my form. I tried this tip and it was like magic. Instant results. Thank you so much.

      I myself was strictly forehand trying to get better at backhand so I understand the frustration! Happy to hear this helped you that’s awesome!

    Philo is a great guy to watch this type of form.

    One odd thing that has helped me is when reaching back, keep the inside of the elbow pointed up (not straight up, but as a general rule). I find the easiest way to control hyzer/flat vs anhyzer releases is inside of elbow up (keeping the shoulder back) or inside elbow down and the should rolled down incidentally.

    Thanks for the video. This is something that I used to work on but lately have fallen back into bad habits as I was working on other pieces of my form. So its a good reminder for me. I've been trying to go to just a stand still making sure my posture is good and a lot of the time I can do really good. But when I watched you throwing I realized just how far behind me I've been reaching. So thank you! this gives me a concrete next step to work on.

    I've only played for a year or two and found this very helpful - thank you. I have the same problems of trying to muscle throws.

    I've been playing about 6-7 months and I'm getting at most 330ft on my backhand with a fairway driver. I will definitely try that out

    Unless I'm in a distance driving contest, control is more important than power. The time I spent working on slowing down my form and focusing on getting that snap has shaved way more strokes than the time I spent getting the extra 50 ft on my distance.

    • @ChasinChains
      @ChasinChains  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree with this! I definitely want to add distance but to have control of your drives is huge.

    Truly appreciate you taking the time to make this video, just came back to disc golf from a 7 month break….. I’ve always felt the need to crush it but my form was somewhat “decent” however, I want to try this out! Thank you.

    I agree w this. I started reaching out in my field work last week and it helped reaching out vs straight back

    I've been having the same challenges recently, and the few times I just focus on being smooth the disc just rips out and flies. Now I just have to defeat my instinct to "muscle" the throw. Thanks!

    Not reaching back but turning my shoulder 90 degrees to the left and the snap from my fingers works for me. And to investigate nose down at release which actually seems to make discs turn at lower speed. There is a nice vid on this. Shryke Diamond Heat at lightweight between 150 and 160 works for me. And swing with ease into the breeze mantra supports to not rip and sick all throws😅

  • @tonykaze
    @tonykaze ปีที่แล้ว

    I added a solid 4-50 feet to my average distance when I started "reaching out" instead of back, in tandem with releasing out away from me a bit, not straight forward. It really does get more spin, and also just results in more actual arm speed too, with more accuracy as well.

    New subscriber! Your story sounds like mine. Elbow drops, trying to throw too hard. So frustrating, especially since I usually get circle one or bullseye on drives between 170 and 210. Star Mamba and Underworld are my go to understable drivers.

    Was that Indian Ripple I just saw you throw on? Also reaching out and not back + slowing everything down has added a bunch of distance for me. Throwing hard always makes things worse for me.

    Thansk for putting up this info. Great video!! When you say light, how light do you mean?. I have a Shryke 167g. Very nice disc. I have a 158g Trespass. A 153g Destroyer. You can hyzer flip those discs nicely

    Ive had some success with 162 gram champ sidewinder and 162 mamba and 168 glow beast I get like extra 20 feet because of the weight but all my disc are fairly new.and stable. I found a new neutron axiom 175gram vanish and I don't know why but I throw it 20 feet further then my mamba every time I think it's the gyro giving me more rotation and it's not more understable. So I bought a MVP 170 relay and it did not fly further

      Please 🙏 help me understand I am a scratch ball golfer and only been playing disc golf for a year so tend to like to realese backhand distance on only hyzer 4hand on anhyzer or flat with understable disc. I throw about 320 max 4 hand and back hand but very accurately.

  • @Rydal1

    hey man i tilt my disc upwards instead of downwards during the reachback what can I do?

  • @JoshJackson13
    @JoshJackson13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you I am really really trying to figure this same thing out too. Seems like I don't get enough rotation on the disc I throw the same distance when I try really hard and run fast as I do when I smooth throw it but 1 out of 20 tries I get good snap and rotation and get a extra fifty feet but I can't figure out how I did it

    • @ChasinChains
      @ChasinChains  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been having much greater success slowing down the run up and focusing on keeping that disc on a straight line all the way through the throw. Reaching out away from my body has been helping with this, it also gives me the ability to bring the disc close to the Chest and “slinging” it forward. Footwork is huge for distance as well!

    • @ROCKONNORG
      @ROCKONNORG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! Every once in while I throw way further, but I just can't duplicate it. Maybe I got the elusive snap; maybe I got smooth, maybe I got the nose down; I just don't know.

    I been trying to reach out, I still have a BAD habit of just trying to rip it as hard as I can. I know I need to stop that since I played almost 14 months and still can't even really break 240 even consistent. I know something is up big time.

  • @Jason-Moon
    @Jason-Moon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I straighten my arm back directly on the line that I'm pulling through. This helps me hit my lines. Any advice on that when reaching out? I'm off my lines trying this but it does feel like I can get more rotation/snap.

    • @ChasinChains
      @ChasinChains  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really think it’s all about timing maybe since it’s new you aren’t totally use to when you need to release. When I change something up I seem to decline before it gets better bc I need to get use to the motion and timing. Sorry I don’t have many tips on a quick fix , it may just be more field work.

      Never do form changes on the course or trying to hit a line or gap. Do form changes in a field. Once you actually get good form, good snap, good distance you will need to relearn your aim because it changes quite a bit.

  • @jtlinard3627
    @jtlinard3627 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can tell you that when I really " rip" one is when Im not trying to. Same way with ball and stick golf , best drives is when I think 70% smooth and good balance

  • @andreasericsson6989
    @andreasericsson6989 ปีที่แล้ว

    More rotation provides more gyroscopic stability, which means the disc will be LESS prone to turning, not more. Throwing more nose down or faster will cause it to turn more.

    • @philipjones0630
      @philipjones0630 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More rotation = more turn. The slowing of a disc’s spin is what causes it to fade.
