I understand it may be on hold right now because of the COVID 19, as are all Broadway productions. I read that the original team is getting back together to build new sets and make new costumes and new effects. If it comes to Chicago, I'd like to go see it. I saw the Networks production of it in 2011 which was also quite good.
I can't help but watch this and be flooded with memories from when my school did the production and I was Lumiere. People still recognize me for the role three years later. :) That was the best year of my life. Everyone should get a chance to be in this play, no matter what part you get. It is a truly amazing experience.
This is something Howard Ashman(1950-1991 R.I.P) would've REALLY been proud off! The movie he was lyric writer and executive producer of ended up on Broadway! He would've been happy to see that ALL the songs he and Alan wrote for the movie ended up on stage! Howard Ashmand and Alan Menkan did a lot of good work for Broadway which where Disney found them. I'm very sure Alan told the cast and crew that they did a great job and that Howard would've been really proud of them all.
I definitely think that Howard Ashman would have approved. It’s a shame that he died before the film even came out. Fortunately, it was dedicated to him.
May 26th, 1995 when I saw it on a drama trip for High School. Was outstanding and seeing Tom Bosley and the bounty hunter from Critters in it was cool as well.
I saw it for free with my theater group. Belle was played by Christie Carlson Romano. It was amazing. One of the best shows i have seen. After the show we got to meet some of the cast. So much fun :)
Please let "Beauty & the Beast" come back to Broadway soon! It was such a landmark musical! Now that "Little Mermaid" is no longer there there won't be two princess musicals to divide the grosses.
TH-cam recommended this because I was watching Gary in the Producers. They Tonys 1994 clip is spectacular. Honestly would have been a treasure to see this one live, but I was under 5.

Which, was still good, but I'm a damn SUCKER for high quality sets, and all they had was a golden stair case for a lot of the castle scenes.

Ok, so the show began on Moises Arias' full birthday... (Moises Arias is from Hannah Montana), and it ended on Genesis Rodriguez's 20th Birthday. (Genesis Rodriguez voices Honey Lemon from Big Hero 6) What a small world this is.
This musical was closed down, but it's BACK! My guess is by popular demand. I recently saw a commercial about it on tv. Some of the costumes look the same, others are slightly different. The sets look nice. Babette's(the feather duster) costume is very different. She wears a shorter skirt and I mean MUCH shorter! I'd say it matches her being a flirt all the time. I've always thought of her as the most beautiful character in the musical. No offense, Belle.

They now have gargoyle statues come alive and move the castle sets around and then sit next to them motionless, adds enchantment. Babette(maid/feather duster) wears a MUCH shorter costume which illustrates how much of a flirt she is. When they do,"Be Our Guest", streamers shoot out into the audience at the end of it. It's on tour!

I saw this a few years ago. The costumes are breathtaking! Especially Belle's yellow ballgown.

I saw this show in Baltimore in 2016, while it was on tour and got a backstage tour thanks to my sister’s dance instructor, happens to be in the show!
