The 20mm f1.8 is a great lens. It’s definitely wide but not crazy wide. I’ve even used it before in APSC mode on my a7siii and it is actually a great 30mm-like focal length too.
@@KofiYeboah ah man, you’re breaking the TH-cam 4th wall! Everything in the frame is yours! 😜😂 jk, jk. I think I’m definitely gonna rent it for a weekend and see what it feels like on FF camera, shot for a 2.39 crop in post. Maybe it’ll feel sorta like a 30 vertically? I don’t know the math.
Got the 11mm f1.8 and 16-35mm f4 PZ with my FX30, that would work more like a 24-50 (52-5 really), then later added the 15mm f1.4 for better low light performance. I like the lighter setup for a walk around vlogging setup.
Hi I’m purchasing the FX 30 don’t know which lens I’m looking at sigma 18-50 or Sony 20 mm I do not do any logging, so which one would you recommend or do you have other lens in mind?
Since I went from the A7iv to the FX30, I had multiple full frame lenses. So, I felt pretty good about the change. I recently picked up the Sigma 16mm f/1.4, which gives me an f/2.1 and 24mm equiv to full frame lens. I am currently shooting a web series, and the FX30 with the Sigma is doing wonders. Also, I just watched your "year with the FX6" video, and that is another camera I really hope to pick up one day.
Help me, I am a videographer on the side, and I cannot decide between the A7iv and the FX 30 . I want full from but I also like the FX 30 because it’s what I need and the FX3 is too expensive. If I get the Fx 30 with a full frame lens, will it give me the same look as the Sony A7iv

I got the E PZ 10-20mm for my green screen filming that I do. Hoping it allows me to put the camera much closer and also capture a wider view than I was able to with my previous camera. Edit: lol now that I'm at the end of this video I'm wishing I waited on the glass...but hopefully what I have is a good starting point
Great video and great lens choice for the fx30 ! I find that the focus breathing makes one too important! I just did the test with my FE G 24mm f2.8 and the crop seems really less important. With this 20mm f1.8 on the fx30 if you cumulate focus breathing + active stab, you almost get a 40mm (FF) I think…
You spelled YES wrong 😏 good video and good point must look at full frame glass because the goal would be full eventually. I just got to get the super35 1st🤣

@@KofiYeboah thanks for the reply. I got a canon r5 again but i miss fx3 but thinking fx30 as i love the idea of focus breathing comp and variable shutter
💯 % you are right, EXEPT FOR THOSE THINGS: 1. If you are buying a sony camera for the 1st time, IT IS NOT A GOOD SOLUTION TO BUY Sony FF LENSES : They are more expensive than apsc lenses AND THE PERFORMANCE of a FF lens in an apsc camera is NEVER THE SAME as if it is used in FF cameras. (worse and NOT THE LENS' fault).. 2. The truth IS that at the moment there is NOT a very good Sony apsc prime lens that is also compatible with the focus breathing competation. So we need an apsc lens, 24mm (equivalent 35mm) with f1.4.
I agree in the short term , FF lenses are more expensive, but IF i end up upgrading and outgrowing my current lenses (a common scenario) as someone who's upgraded a ton , having to also purge and rebuy new lenses is a hassle I'd rather just pay once upfront, and not worry about it as long as possible. If the performance isn't the lenses fault , I'd guess the recommendation would be just keep the crop factor in mind while doing so, no?
@Kofi Yeboah I'm thinking out loud: Is there any kind of future in Apsc format for Sony? before Fx30, I didn't believe it. To be 100% sure, I MUST SEE NEW, FAST APSC LENSES, WITH F1.4, or F1.8, FROM SONY (but also from third parties).
@@DroneStories sure there is ! Theres millions of camera tech consumers around , that don't nearly have the same expectations as other people, so it would be fine to assume people are happy whats out there, but also for the very common idea that people may upgrade one day, I'll still say (if you can) FF glass isn't a BAD idea
My FX30 is about to arrive today!!!
Like bringing home a new born baby :)
How do you like it?

It’s actually real nice I can’t lie ! I don’t vlog a ton , so that kinda look feels safe , like I can use it for most shots 🙏🏾
What lens would you recommend for a small room podcast with fx30? What size lens? Full-frame or apsc?
So glad you made this video. I have my 20mm paired with my A7IV, I was curious how it would be on the FX30
It’s tight for vlogging but for b roll and general 30ish mm footage , amazing !
Thanks! Mentioning the 15mm 1.4 was a life saver cause I shoot crop.
I'm still learning. I'm about to pick up the camera from Best Buy. I'm getting this to document my kids' journey through athletics.
That’s awesome!
That Christmas tree is legit! I’ve been thinking about getting the 20 for a minute now. For FF because I usually shoot 2.39 for my doc stuff.
Haha honestly , it’s the studios, I can’t take credit.
I used it on a couple projects that are doc style and 100% it’s great 🙏🏾

Hey man I love your content! What is your favorite camera + lens combo for under $1,000 that fits your film style? Any recommendations?
Id suggest saving until you can spend around 1700-2000 and getting something that might take you longer to outgrow imho

Two zooms 10-20 G and 18-105 G, plus a Sigma 56, would cover most scenarios.
That’s a great combo
Can you give your verdict on the Sony 11mm f1.8 apsc lens with the FX30? Would love to see some (vlog) footage of it!
I’m still hoping to get one to borrow (cause I’m not buying one with my own money ahah)
