I'm actually very happy that this is happening. Playing our youth and giving reps and opportunities to learn and grow. Plus whether we do well next season or not its a win win. We either get a high draft pick in a stacked, very deep NHL draft in 2025 (I pray we get Michael Misa) or get a great young team that will grow and get better every year. I love it. Best thing to happen to our team.
Your logic makes sense re: going w. a younger squad. We saw what the vets did last post-season and it was disappointing, to say the least. So repeating with another group pf vets would be absolutely foolish. Although missing out on the Free Agents might not have been by design, it be a blessing in disguise. WPG needs something to look forward to- and I think trending younger provides that. I like what the Canucks did last year and they added a bunch of misfits to their core group, they played simpler hockey but played as a much better team overall. I think WPG can follow this model and have success with the younger squad. I also think Chevy has a few cards to play. I can see a big trade or two coming down the road which will give this squad a different look. But he'll pull the trigger when it makes most sense. Right now values are too high.
Long time coming and honestly seeing Dallas have a lot of success doing this exact same thing last year I feel it's probably for the best, even if we don't get as many points in the regular season as last year.
I agree with the current strategy (if I got it right). Develop your draft picks instead of spending a lot to sign a veteran. That may cost the Jets the coming playoffs but it will avoid falling into the rebuilding pit like the Caps, Penguins, Sharks. There are still enough skilled veterans like Scheifele or Connor on the team to make the Jets competitive. Extend Ehlers and sign Perfetti is the right move.
I'm really happy this quick retool should have happend a while ago. I like how it sounds if you outplay someone or earn a spot your on team. Where years past we kept high priced players instead buyout or bury in AHL. Or Stanley/Schmidt over Capo,Heinola and others. I know most fans will want typical guys on team top prospects. I'd like to see Fluery be 7th/8th dman. No reason Ford,Shaw,Chibrikov,Lucius can't push Kupari,AJF,Gus down as 12/13/14 fwd. I'd still like to see moves iafallo, pionk,Stanley,Mcgroarty maybe Ehlers trades but if Chevy does keep them or a player like Appleton whoever has value at deadline flip for pick. I rather finish wildcard with room to grow then 1st/2nd and 1st round exit like last 2 years. Start acting like Vegas/top teams -have your core flip in ELC,Cheap UFA -if guys play is dropping off don't be like oh well he's our guy get them off while still can. - Never be scared to be in on top guys - take chances on lesser UFA or unsigned college guys instead lose like Chisholm,Kovacevic for nothing. Flip them salary retained/already paid deadline. Like Montreal/Arizona/Nashville have done.
The youth are like trees - you need succession. The idea is to surround them with solid leadership and experience and watch them grow underneath. Do we have the right leaders to help them take shape?
After the ‘18 run management thought they needed to continuously buy until we won the cup but in reality we should’ve plugged the holes with youth. We’re 3 years too late to doing this but not too late to ruin our chances forever
So there's 2 things... first off the jets only have 1 player since 2016 to 2024, drafts all rounds every selection to currently play on the roster full time (dylan samberg). can argue Perfetti but healthy scratch underutilized... so be as may... technically only 1... So saying that not much for draft and development franchise.... oh so they claim Secondly the Youth definitely deserves shots seeing in how they have out preform most of the vets currently on the roster when they were the youths ages... good move but don't get things twisted Chevy tried signing vets and older players to keep his promise to Schief and Hellybuck... he is going with the youth as plan B...

What do you guys think of the Youth Movement?

Mcgroarty for laine plus add ons ie pionk? If jets are doing youth then rutger has a spot right? If he really wants out then get patty back for sure
Agree with you there, with going with the youth movement! Thank good we didn’t get any of these old fa players. Dodged a bullet
I'm very happy with the direction that the Jets are going.
Don't forget, 4th overall in the regular season.

Can't wait to see what happens this season!

Tax situation in Canada is brutal and takes about 50% of their salary 😮🙄

Last draft pick that developed properly is Cole Perfetti!!??
Would be sick if Barlow is ready to go up to the bigs.

Makes a lot of sense… time to see what the future looks like. Enough of the has beens... go Jets !
Any chance Chevy will cave in and allow mcgroaty to get a full time spot to start the season?
Play the youth! Get Lambert on 2C. Play Heinola and Salomonson.
Its time for the youth movement. There hasn't been one since the relocation.
I think if they do a youth movement this season and they wait the McGroarty situation out he may decide to stay at the end of this ncaa season
I think mcgroarty will end up signing with the jets at the end of this season, although that’s just what I hope!!
Youngsters will sell tickets. Get some youth in the system. I’m so glad they didn’t spend a bunch of money on Monahan and Toffoli.

Toffoli was a no-show for Wpg. Glad he's gone.
That god for Andrew copp going to the conference finals 🙏 no lambert if that doesn’t happen
