Fun fact about those old Tesla transistors - if you have some stash, don't throw them away, they are actually pretty useful (but in a different way than you might think :) If you remove the leads (just wiggle them side-to-side, they'll break right by the bottom surface), you'll have cool looking metal push buttons for your projects. Just drill a hole into the front panel, put "button" into and place a pcb with microswitch under it. Enjoy.
What I cannot imagine yet is the arrangement of the terminals. It is assumed that the base terminal is sandwiched between the emitter and the collectorin bipolar type . How can it be a priori? Do you have a vertical section to design this type of transistor?
To my remebrance, the transistors actually had different specs. First transistor (pins 2 and 4) was low noise, low signal input stage and the last one (6,7) was high current output stage.

@@Sharpless2 fair enough! I'm a design engineer in the UK, so I'm aware how much items like these can add up. For small quantities of custom the price of parts can really add up. Can you explain a bit about the gates and what they perhaps did?
No gates. 1. It's not logic. 2. They are bipolar transistors. Bipolar don't have gates, they have bases. FETS have gates.
Those are not the gates. Just the transistors, which can be both used as a analog and digital parts.
