built my box the same way. I have a 12 inch JL WXv2 and the box is Gorilla Glued PLUS Nailed. Its not going anywhere LOL. And the JL pounds HARD. It's JL's lower end budget woofer and let me tell you. It may be budget, but it DOES NOT skimp on bass. The woofer has a high roll treated foam surround that gives the woofer the ability to produce a huge 10 mm of one way xmax. Witch is pretty impressive for a budget woofer. It sounds fucking good too. Nice low end extension on the woofer. The box helps with that too cause I made the box to JL's specs. It also has a 4 inch L shapped PVC pipe port that was rounded on both ends to reduce port noise. Good sounding box. Good sounding subwoofer. Watch my video on it if you want. Its a bad video, but it gives you an idea of what I have :)

It amazes me how many people think a fluttering distorted bass sounds good ;-/ Is it about power or sound quality ? Posing or listening enjoying music ? At a certain point a bass or amp is putting out more distortion than pure sound . Go over that level and you get this flopping snapping distortion . The parts can no longer handle the travel . The coil hits bottom or the magnet . The rubber surround start flopping and become audibly distorted . The spider around the coil loses its ability to keep its rippling shape . And the coil overheats extends beyond its magnetic poles .Anyone with any musical taste or sense can hear the distortion and will back off the volume or bass level . Bass is more likely to hit distortion because of its longer travel and power . I get so sick of hearing these rattling bass systems from hell ;-/
The box looks calculated . But it is being overpowered . Some seem to think showing or playing these bass systems beyond their peak is a show of quality , posing . I think it is pathetic and irritating to the eyes and ears .I can just look at it and see it is fluttering without even hearing it .It's not the speaker's fault it is the operator .

Do you have the appropriate equipment hooked to your computer to reproduce the sound say the 15'' 750w Velodine sub? If not you will not be able to reproduce the frequencies and sound level.

Dude, try plugin one of thoose ports with that cup/ tshirt and try hitting lower notes than the box was tuned at when both ports were open. that should keep pressurize the boxdown to even lower notes. POSSIBLY even 20 hz

It ain't nothing if it doesn't make your ears bleed within 10 seconds. Super-weak system! You need much more to bring it up to a modest level where every window and wall that you drive by at least gets cracked, if not destroyed. With that weak-ass system, even your own windows don't get blown out. Such a shame...

Sounds like a good set up but if you really want a Hifonics amp, try the Brutus they're closer to rated power.

Hey Guys, Try Philips' Bombardon' Speakers (from the 60-ties) Crazy design of a basspump made with a stiff styrofoam cone. It won't be near as loud as this, but much, much better sounding.
And they go LOW, meaning REAL DEEP, sitting in just a 40 Litres pressure enclosure the push down to 14 Hz, no distortion whatsoever.
