i wish they would get more recognition for their originals. to me they are not a gimick anymore. by far not. they are prob one of my top 5 fav prog metal or metal bands overall. All i search for is for another band to have anything that even comes close to that dark heavy sound like apocalyptica like in gates of manila, rage of poseidon, last hope, till death do us apart, etc... you know what, really most of their instrumentals.
i wish people would see it that way so that more people with interest in prog metal or even death metal that search for smth... well smth more apocalyptic xD find apocalyptica.

hm. i hate that apocalyptica is always seen as a cover or gimick band. they might have started that way and still do it here and there but to me they are one of my favorite prog metal bands EVER. Their instrumentals are the heaviest insane shit i have ever heard of in my life. canibal copse is heavy but idk what it is that just makes me feel different when listening to smth like "rage of poseidon" or "at the gates of manila" or "till death do us apart" even or... really a lot of thier own instrumentals. I hate that noone looks at this bc they havent been "marketed" that way at the beginning but to me they are the heaviest or rather darkest prog metal band there is.
Really listen to rage of poseidon and tell me its not a masterpiece.
