Great video, thank you. I have an issue with my water spout on the left of the machine however. When I use the milk frother, steam also comes out of the water spout. Sometimes some water comes out of there also. And then when I pull the espresso shot, steam or water comes out of the water spout at the same time. I'm sure that this isn't supposed to happen. To use the milk steamer I press the frother button and let it warm up enough, until the display reads 00. Also, I make sure everything is ready before making the coffee. When I turn the machine on I let it warm up for 5 minutes, and then I run water through the steamer, plus through the coffee part as you demonstrated. No matter what I do, steam always comes out of the water spout, and I've burned my hand a few times reaching in with my left hand to remove the espresso shot. I have used the rubber stopper and run water into the portafilter at pressure, and cleaned the steamer etc. I also looked inside the machine and all the pipes and cables seem perfect and no leaks or anything. Have you seen this before?

For the water spout on the left, I alw use that for hot water, air and water coming out together. At first is the air, then after few seconds only the water will come out, but still is not 100% is water but mix with air too.

very subjective, different people have different taste. For myself, I love bitter taste, such as dark roasted beans. so far I find Brazil Santos beans pretty good.
Thank you so much. For personal or home use, I highly recommend due to price perspective. But for commercial use, yes & no. For yes, this machine come with 58mm portafilter & is steel steam wand & nozzle. For No, frothing the milk will take within 85~90 seconds to reach 60 degree celcius. So far I able to do 3 cups latte in a row. Time concern, will eat up alot of time if you need to serve many people.
Same model im using but getting crema and default non pressurized coffee bask plz advice me how can i get crema ? Also i have another machine with pressurized filter and getting crema
Thanks for your question. Correct me if I'm wrong, creamer as in brewing the coffee ground? If yes to your question, different beans different result. But most importantly u need to make sure is 1:2 ratio with correct timing. Meaning if coffee liquid out is 24grams for 1 shot, the timing should be around 3~5+ seconds (approximately 28 seconds)
Hi, I'm thinking to buy this machine and I can see that you are using a pressurised portafilter. Read the comments and can see the portafilter is a 58mm. Isit advisable to get a 58mm non-pressurised portafilter for this machine?
Sorry, your meaning of non-pressurised is bottomless portafilter or? If yes, most coffee lover prefer bottomless simply bc they get 50% or more of Crema. ... Furthermore they can see the extraction directly into the cup for more consistent extraction by looking at the filter brewing.
looks like the one he is using is a non-pressurised portafilter. And the one that comes with the machine is also non-pressurised. I think u meant bottomless portafilter?
sorry, didn't see your msg coming in. Basically need to change 1 shot portafilter to 2 shot, which is 12 to 18 gram portafilter. I will do a video to show how to do 2 shot of coffee. Thanks
Hello Sir, how about double shot i using 24g coffee and brew it until 70ml/g espresso. It is right or wrong? because if i need to do latte using 250ml bottle, milk 180ml + 60ml espresso not enough for 1 bottle. can you help me?
There is no right or wrong answer. But if you are using this Gemilai machine with 58mm portafilter, how you manage to put 24g coffee ground in the double shot basket? For my understanding, 58mm portafilter for this Gemilai machine can fit double shot basket with 18g of coffee ground, which is double shot. Then brew the ground to 36g liquid. Or I may got it wrong from your message, cause if is 24g, is it you referring to 12g to 24g (1:2 ratio, is a single shot basket)? Don't recommend brew until 70ml, for single or double shot (12g / 24g). Even if we do Americano, normally they don't brew this much and long, cause u will lose & decrease the strength of the coffee. The common understanding I know, is 1:1 ratio, 1:2 ratio & 1:3 ratio, different ratio need to use different size type of basket. Original Gemilai machine, given a double shot basket which can fit in around +/- 18g of ground. I made a simple calculation, If I using double shot which is output 36g/ml. milk at 180ml, total up is 216 ml. Your bottle size and my cup size almost the same. Using this formula should be a latte and should fill up in your 250ml bottle. For the price we pay for this Gemilai machine, frothing the milk I tested, contain water when you frothing the milk. The remaining 44g is the foam and water. Hope I answer your question.
@@muhammadizzul7217 for my understanding, ristretto shot is lesser than espresso shot. normally is 1:1 or 1:1.5 ratio. Standard basket Gemilai provided is 58mm double shot basket. Suggest put as usual 18g ground, unless u have single shot basket and u can put 12g ground but brew 1:1 ration liquid. I feel that we can't put lesser or more ground in this 2 basket because either u will brew faster or slower. Then u will get all sort of taste and will get you confuse. So stick to the same amount of ground if possible.
Hi Sir, Im Azwan also new gemilai user since 1month ago, still struggling with the mixing ratio. Ive try 18g IN but end up almost 70g OUT for 29sec. Pressure bar achieved 9-10bar Im using original portalfilter. I bought ground coffee from ASK. Can you advise how to get 1:2 ratio, what went wrong with my method 😭
Hi Azwan, thanks for your question. Honestly, I don't really look at the pressure bar much, the timing concern me the most. From your sharing, it looks like you grind the beans too coarse, that's why 70g out which way too much, correct ratio is 36g +/- out (for 1:2 ratio). Try to adjust slowly on your grinder, "lesser number". and try to brew again, you might losing some beans, but trust me, you will satisfy the desire u want on your coffee taste once u got it right adjustment. Anyway, i will share with you what's my pressure bar is for 1 shot 12g is between 13~14bar (normally i try to make it to 13bar for 1 shot) and for 2 shot 18g is between 12~13 bar. Hope this reply help you. 😀
Hi there. Good question but is a very subjective to share and suggest. Different beans different dialing on the grind size of the powder. I would say semi fine powder. My grinder dial is not 1.5 / 2.0 but around 6.5 which can provide me the timing that I expect, which is output 28 seconds for 24g coffee liquid.
@@SnowMakerTV means to get better brew is to have own grinding machine? because i buy coffee which already grind with size 1.5 extra fine. 3 packet done and nicely brew. Suddenly i try buy again and it stuck and become slower when brew and sometimes not come out. So i try but another size 2 fine grind it come out faster but got a little bit crema means not so nice compare the first time i brew.
@@muhammadizzul7217 yeah, highly recommend to have your own grind machine. This will happen, same price, same beans, same grind size. But timing different. Of cause partially also because of this model Gemilai machine, value for money, we don't expect to have a perfect timing when brewing.

Thanks for the excellent video. I'm using gemilai 3601 and the original portafilter. Is it okay if I'm using only 14gm of coffee? Yours is 1 shot with 12gm of coffee. Should I make it 24gm for my double shot?
Thanks & U are most welcome. Our Gemilai portafilter is a commercial size come with 58mm (double basket). A double basket is currently sized for 16-18 grams of ground coffee. Single (the one in my video) around 10-12 grams. Actually I had try double basket fill in more than 18g & I find it to pack and hard to brew coffee to suit my taste. If you fill in only 14g on double basket, the brew time will be way to fast and your coffee taste will be lack of taste or the bitterness. I don't suggest make it 24g, cause is way to pack & brew time gonna be way to long, & your coffee taste will be very acidic. May I ask, why you want it 24g? standard is 18g. If u want 24g, then u need to change to triple basket portafilter. I hope this reply helps you.
@@SnowMakerTV Thank you for the clarification. I'm new and I thought your coffee is 12gm for single, and just times it 2 for double. I will try to use the 18gm as suggested and see the outcome. Thanks again ya ☺️
I am still not able to get the pressure to go up till today T.T What is the grind size of the coffee bean? I ask Starb**ks staffs to grind to the coffee machine size, but seems not fine enough
What grinder machine u are using? I don't follow the dial of my grinder (recently I change a new grinder), I dial to 1:2 ratio & timing is 25~28 seconds, lag 2~5 seconds for 1 shot basket 12g coffee ground. Have u try grind the finest? Dial to maybe 4 or 5? Like I mention, don't follow the dial number, the dial might not accurate.
Thank you for the question. The nozzle hose gently place it on the surface of the milk, only you turn the knob to froth the milk. Create some air (aka bubble) & let some air (aka bubble) enter into the hose, approximately 20 seconds. U will notice the squeaking sound will subside. Then put deeper the hose deeper around 10mm. @@ariffmarzuki8675 u are most welcome. 20g coffee ground definitely will raise the pressure bar 😁, cause thicker & more ground. Try grind more fine. Hi. What’s wrong with my grind if the coffee comes out really quickly, watery with no crema. 18g of coffee comes out watery within 10 seconds and the pressure gauge doesn’t move upwards. Please help!
Thanks for sharing. The reason why is bc the beans that being grind is too coarse, means not fine enough & the coffee can be under extracted (when brewing). Try to turn your grinder knob towards (clockwise) turn it slowly bit by bit (let's say u at 3 now, turn to maybe 2.8), if liquid still come out fast, turn again. Btw, different beans, diff companies might be different grind size. Hope this help.
Hi sir, thanks for the tips! I used the same coffee machine however I have a problem when frothing the milk. It seems that the milk never get frothed properly although I have let it circulates until more than 100 seconds where I have to stop the frothing due to the milk is boiled completely. Do you have any idea?
U are most welcome. More than 100seconds that is very long. Mine around 85 seconds. Did u press the froth button on our most right before u froth? U mean after 100 seconds the milk is still not hot?
@@SnowMakerTV Yeah the milk actually get hot but the only problem is the milk foam is not forming. There is only some bubbles on top of the milk. Have been tried couple of times but still failed :(
@@xXl3lizZaRdXx that is strange. Cause this machine never a problem to create foam. Simply bc the pressure is slow. Try put the hose tip on the milk surface for bout 15 seconds. Let the air enter & u will realise the squeaking sound will subside. Then put the hose deeper.
Hi is the original portafilter able to brew 12g coffee? Because when i do it,not gonna be enough pressure like too less coffee ground inside the portafilter? Anyone can answer this. Own it almost a month but not consistent yet
Thanks for asking. The original portafilter in the box is actually 2 shots portafilter which is 18g coffee ground. I bought myself a single shot filter which is 12g. I hardly use 2 shot filter (1:2 ratio; 18:36g liquid) is bc I find it too strong 😅, and I'm using 260ml cup which is 1 shot filter that suit my taste.
Seems like u have the same issue as me. In order for me to get 2x extracted in ~30secs (eg. 12g in 24g out or 18g in 36g out), i need to grind finer and tamp a little harder, but this causes the pressure to go up to around 12-13 bars. I heard ideal would be 9 bars for espresso. Have u managed to solve this issue? I tried a slightly coarser grind, that could get me to 9 bars nicely, but the flow was too fast, it would take only around 16-20 seconds to get to 2x. Cant seem to get that ratio right, the ideal would be around 25-30 seconds, 9 bars pressure and 2x out right?
Thank you for sharing. Last time I used to very particular on the bar of the machine. And now I hardly see the pressure bar simply because I notice different beans from different countries different type of flavor & roast will change the machine bar. I would say the machine bar no longer my priority. But what I concern the most is 1 to 1 ratio from grind machine 12g out beans to 12g +/- powder. Secondly is the timer and the weigh of the liquid, which is what u mention, 12g in and 24g out within 25-30 seconds. To your question, once before I manage to see 9 bars on that specific beans I bought, can't remember the beans brand, hehe. After that I change another brand beans, a dark roasted beans from Brazil, the bar went back to around 13. To your last question, yes, If we able to get 25-30 seconds (single shot basket) on 9 bars and the timing lack is 3 to 5 seconds (from weight scale machine), is a perfect shot . But I don't think we will achieve that 9 bar. I suggest don't look at the bar in the machine, as you know, this Gemilai machine is value for money type of machine.
Don’t buy! Mine lasted less than 2 years. The steam frothing wand broke off in less than 2 years, and couldn’t achieve pressure above 3 bars. Very happy with its replacement! The HiBrew H10A - an incredible machine which is about the same price as the Gemilai, but with many advanced features. Look for Lance’s review here on TH-cam!!!

Every time when I purchase new beans, I will need to try at least 3 times to grind to the correct amount of weight & timing of the liquid. Normally is 1:2 ratio and lag +/- < 3 seconds. Hope this reply help.
@@SnowMakerTV thanks for the fast response, now that i’ve understand that i need to sacrifice a bit of the beans to find the best ratio and grind setting every time i try a new blend. really appreciate it. hope to see more coffee content from your channel
@@izzulhafiy289 You are most welcome. Normally what I do, first 3 brew I don't waste it but will drink it, maybe too dilute and tasteless😅.
Another tips that I found out just to share. If the beans that I bought is more darker (dark roasted) more oily, normally I will dial the grinder knob towards coarse maybe 2 dial. If the beans is towards light brown less oily, I will tune towards more fine.
@@SnowMakerTV that’s a great tip!
Hi what's your recommended beans?
very subjective, different people have different taste. For myself, I love bitter taste, such as dark roasted beans. so far I find Brazil Santos beans pretty good.
Hi , well-done for the video. Do you still recommend this machine to use for multiple coffees?

How does the machine make double shot
sorry, didn't see your msg coming in.
Tq so much sir... Yes i get it.. 😁👍🏻
@@SnowMakerTV got another question, how about if i want to add ristretto shot? how much coffee and espresso i need using this machine?
@@muhammadizzul7217 for my understanding, ristretto shot is lesser than espresso shot. normally is 1:1 or 1:1.5 ratio. Standard basket Gemilai provided is 58mm double shot basket. Suggest put as usual 18g ground, unless u have single shot basket and u can put 12g ground but brew 1:1 ration liquid. I feel that we can't put lesser or more ground in this 2 basket because either u will brew faster or slower. Then u will get all sort of taste and will get you confuse. So stick to the same amount of ground if possible.
@@SnowMakerTV for grind around 1-1.5 is better ?
Hi Sir, Im Azwan also new gemilai user since 1month ago, still struggling with the mixing ratio. Ive try 18g IN but end up almost 70g OUT for 29sec.
Pressure bar achieved 9-10bar
Im using original portalfilter.
Hi sir, may i know this machine actually suitable for what type of grind coffee powder ya? Is it 1.5 or 2?
@@SnowMakerTV ok sir, thank you so much for your explaination..
Is it normal for the machine to have “dugdug” sound when the steam is on max?
Good question. Is very normal. The dug sound is actually the pump sound, to create pressure to provide you the steam & brewing.
are u using single shot basket?can share link where u buy?
yes, is a single shot basket. But I didn't buy from online but purchase direct from a friend. Maybe try searching in Shopee, surely have it there.
whats wrong with my steam wand it’s not creating micro foam, what should I do? i’d been using different kond of coffee machine for almost 6years but I can’t understand the problem of my gemmilai
Why not try to put the steam wand on the surface of the milk for let's say 20 second. Gemilai machine pretty easy to make foam.
Hello what is the size of the portafilter? Thank you.
The size is 58mm, standard size for commercial portafilter. U are most welcome.

Most welcome. U mean not working even when u brew the coffee?

How to make a double shot with the machine
I am still not able to get the pressure to go up till today T.T What is the grind size of the coffee bean? I ask Starb**ks staffs to grind to the coffee machine size, but seems not fine enough
What grinder machine u are using? I don't follow the dial of my grinder (recently I change a new grinder), I dial to 1:2 ratio & timing is 25~28 seconds, lag 2~5 seconds for 1 shot basket 12g coffee ground.

When I steam the milk, it becomes bubbly? Please suggest what to do. Thank you!

Try grind your coffee beans into more fine. Why your bar doesn't go up to 10 bars or more simply because your coffee ground too coarse.
@@SnowMakerTV thanks for the reply...i asked the barista from CBTL to make it fine(no 3) and he also suggested to me as well...but the thing is once i used 20gm coffee bean in ,the bar presurre will rise to 10...hahaahahah idk why..as before i just put around 18gm only....
@@ariffmarzuki8675 u are most welcome. 20g coffee ground definitely will raise the pressure bar 😁, cause thicker & more ground. Try grind more fine. For my liking & my taste, I just use 12g ground 1 shot portafilter. Try to get 10 to 12 bar pressure at 18g ground, u will get the taste u like. If 20g kind a waste on beans. 😆
What is the brand of your grinder?
I bought the coffee machine come together with the grinder. U can find it in Shopee platform for this grinder.
Mine until today about 4 years plus, still working fine & alright.
what is the function of the third button?

After froth milk, do I need to press the 4th button?
Basically you don't need to press the 4th button, you just need to turn the knob back (right side of the machine) to stop frothing.

Yes you can, you may need to press the 2nd button on your left to brew another cup. Keep in mind to make sure all LED lights stop blinking only you brew or froth, to make sure the machine are ready & hot enough to do it work.
