- iPhone 13 Pro ProRes Video is here now!
With the release of iOS 15.1 beta 3, Apple has enabled the option to film in ProRes on your iPhone 13 Pro in the native camera app.
I this video I show how to enable ProRes video, I discuss the benefits and drawbacks of shooting in ProRes on your iPhone and I show plenty of sample footage.

Hi Garry, I haven't done much green screen work, but from my understanding you want as much data as possible to help with a cleaner file to key out the green screen. In which case using Pro Res HQ in the Filmic Pro app will help you there. You could probably get away with using a more compressed Pro Res variant like LT or Proxy (I didn't see much difference in the quality settings), but give it a test before seeing what works best for your needs. I'd definitely look to use a manual control app instead of the inbuilt camera app to ensure you can fix your white balance and exposure settings too.
_ProRes is best used at night, dark settings, up close settings and zooms_

Yep, sure can! The only thing is you are restricted to 1080p 30fps setting on the 128gb Pro models. Thats the same for the Pro and the Pro Max.

Bought the 128gb pro max and it’s back ordered about a month. If I wanted to get the 256 just for pro res not only would I have to pay more, but I’d have to wait even longer depending on that back order. Even though I’m a pixel peeper and love video, doesn’t seem worth it with the limited space, social media sharing options, etc
tbh i ordered a 512 and got it earlier than my estimated ship date I had a family member order a 128gb pro max and had too wait longer than me so what I'm thinking is that 128 is back ordered while the higher storage options are more available because less people got them
I think that the 128 option is the most popular for all. Still, you got ProRes in 1080p which is in my opinion good for youtube workflows etc. 4k is nice and everything but with that, you would need at least 512gb

If i don;t offload the prores files and choose to edit the videos using the lumafusion app will the app have an easy time editing the prores files since they are uncompressed?
I'm not sure sorry. I've never used the LumaFusion app to edit with. Hopefully someone else might be able to comment with their experience for you! I know on my Mac using Premiere Pro, it is a much smoother editing experience with the ProRes files.
ProRes is actullly a easy codec for any device when it comes to edit, it’s not like HEVC or AV1, you can edit it without any problems even with some old device like i7 8550U, but you have to need a fast speed SSD because of high bit rate.
Hi, on 13 Pro 128gb (not pro max), is it available? I can’t find prores setting in camera menu. I’ve got iOS 15.0.2
Hi jakustamas, it will be available very soon! On my phone I have installed the beta version of iOS 15.1, so if you want ProRes now, you could do that, otherwise it's probably not too far off Apple releasing it for everyone!
So pro res comes out Monday or Tuesday this week ?
Yeah its supposed to be out on Monday the 25th, and thats usually in California time zone. So for me here in Australia it'll be Tuesday 26th.
It's already available on my phone. IOS 15.1 I'm not in beta test
I have selected the pro res option in camera settings, but when I use the video it doesn't show pro res at the top of the screen. I'm on 15.0.2 which is the only update option offered. I have the pro (256), is there a way of getting the 15.1 beta or is it just not available to everyone yet?
Hey Maddie, it’s available to the public as beta. If you want it right now you can head to beta.apple.com and download the beta profile to let you install 15.1. Otherwise I’ve read that Apple release the update to everyone on Monday-Tuesday, depending on your time zone.

Can you shoot at 60fps in prores?
Hi Mihir, you can shoot at 60fps in 1080p and then in 4K you are limited to 30fps.
So you're not going to talk about how iPhone pro res doesn't work with iCloud.
Is it jus me but my 13pm is no smoother than my 12 even with 120hz.
Not just you. My dad has one and I compared the two. I’m definitely keeping my 12pm for a few more years.
@@jakedaiIy yeah it’s really not worth upgrading at all.
I think there is a difference especially with fast scrolling, but I agree, it's pretty minor overall, and not worth the upgrade just for that, especially if you already have a 12!
@@iamjoshstunell i personally upgraded from a Regular 12 and have noticed the promotion since I turned the phone on, all of the animations are smoother plus the screen is way brighter in the sun + the camera/battery upgrades.
