When he died, we lost a great singer, song writer and musician but also a great man with humanity, fighting against racism, poverty and injustices. He did so much for Africa, bringing water to the villages, opening schools for children. We lost A LOT. Now we still have his music. One of the most beautiful French song IMO : "tous les cris, les SOS."

    Hello *Groovy Reacts,*
Bravo et merci (in French in the text, lol), *
Diane Des Neiges* gave you songs from Daniel B. to react in comments, and I think it's a good list to start.
The Dimash version is clearly more spectacular, but unfortunately for a French speaker as I'm, he missed some sentences and mixed some others (because he doesn't speak French and so doesn't know really exactly what he sings); what does the song a bit esoteric and strange for us. 😋 But yes, for the performance you must watch his incredible cover.
I suggest you react to *"Noir Désir - Le vent nous portera"* (The wind will carry us), the Official Video, a beautiful dark French song out in 2001.
I propose to you here a metrified, rhyming, and poetic translation. So, you'll find deviations from the original meaning (extra words, extra or omitted information, substituted concepts). But I tried to respect the meaning of the song as much as possible. And it's very, very, very close to the original lyrics, lol:
    *The wind will carry us*
I'm not afraid of the way,
We should go, or we should stay,
    Meanders in back hollow,
    Everything is fine thus,
    The wind will carry us.

Your message to the Big Dipper
And the run in this direction,
    A simple silken snapshot.
Even if it's no use, c'm'on,
The wind will bring it up.
    All will disappear, but,
    The wind will carry us.

    The caress and the strafing,
And this bad wound so aching,
    The palace of other days;
    future and yesterday,
    Wind carries it away.

    Genetics hung on the belt,
    Chromosomes in atmosphere,
    Some taxis to the galaxies,
    And my flying carpet, please?
The wind will bring it up.
    All will disappear, but,
    The wind will carry us.

This perfume of our buried years,
    All that can knock on you from rear;
    Infinity of happy-ends.
We place one, but what will remain?
    Wind will sweep it again.

    While the tide is rising,
And each one redoes its counting,
I bring in hollow of my shadow
    Dusts coming from yo-o.
The wind will bring them up.
    All will disappear, but,
    The wind will carry us.
    ...You're welcome! :)

This song is one of the jewels in the Starmania musical, a french-speaking musical from the 70s, composed by Michel Berger and written by Luc Plamondon.
It was covered by many, one of ghe most famous cover is by Gregory Lemarchal. And of coursr most recently by Dimash who made it his anthem song.
It was this song that brought it to fame in 2017 in the Singer china contest.

Cette chanson a été composée Spécialement par Michel Berger et écrite par Luc Plamondon en 1978 pour l'opéra rock Starmania. En plus des titres qui t'on été proposé, j'ajouterais "Lady marlene"

Daniel was one of best singer, composer... IMO, he was the french Peter Gabriel !!! He was a big fan of him !!
    Lyrics, musics, sounds ...
The same search for sounds, rhythm, strong words!!!
Among his most beautiful song :
"Partir avant les miens".. Leave before mine... about death.
"Dieu que c'est beau" .. God it's beautiful. About the birth.
"Un enfant assis attend la pluie"... A child sitting waiting for the rain. About african starvation.
"Vivre ou survivre"... Live or survive. About life.
Great, great artist ... left before some !

I propose the amazing cover by Grégory Lemarchal. He was very sick. But , he was a very good singer. Take a look on his Wikipedia , for more informations.
You can read the comments of the youtuber , Dereck Reacts who plays numerous French videos , to select a good song.
    Pascal from France.

This song was written for him and his range. It's a rock opera called "Starmania". Dimash became famous with this cover. Daniel, after this, composed and sang what he was writing. All of this was in the 70's. He composed and sang "Le chanteur", a great song, nobody could never make cover of this because he's very high quite all the time, the lyrics are deep. You must listen to some of his tracks, very deep, but you really should listen to "Tous les cris les SOS", his last one, and the most beautiful. Daniel was the favorite singer in France, but he died in the beginning of 1986 in a race, "Paris - Dackar", not as a driver but just because he was involved in Africa cause, he wanted to help African countries where water was rare. He died in an helicopter accident. French people cried a long time after that, we all keep him in our heart, forever, even the new generation. That's so delicate to listen to the original song before listening to Dimash's one. I'm very touched, because all around the world, everybody think Dimash made this song. Of course, he makes performances on it, but I will always love the original, the simple one, without effects and show, just Daniel as he was in the 70'sa shy man unknowed. I really appreciate your reactions, you know it now, and respect again for that beautiful one, with no other reference as the Dimash's one. I'm so respectful. Love from France 🇫🇷😘

For me, his best (by far) is Tous les cris les SOS. So ahead of its time, so unique, you'll never hear a song like that. A masterpiece!

As recommended in this section, Daniel Balavoine’s other great opus is Tous Les cris, les SOS. But there are many other beautiful songs of his. You can also explore more from this song’s composer Michel Berger (La groupie du pianiste, amazing piano vibes that prompted Elton John to ask him to write an entire album for him) especially his work for France Gall: Ella, Elle l’a (a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald) was her biggest international hit, cool video too.

Great reaction. You can also listen to the version by Dimash Qudaibergen from the 2017 Singer competition in China which shot him to international stardom.

Daniel Balavoine died on January 14, 1986, while on his way to a humanitarian mission in Mali. He was 36 years old, some still speak of a murder because he was fighting against multinationals. He was in a helicopter when it hit a sand dune.
It's good what you do to be interested in songs in other languages.
