Trails are trails wether its summer time or winter. Sledders need to realize sxs's are here now and if its a shared trail you guys are doing nothing wrong! Ive snowmobiled for years,i wouldnt care id be just happy others are out enjoying a sport similar to mine!! Have fun dirtdudes!
Winter time riding is so good, the groomed trails are so smooth and the scenery is breathtaking after a storm.
I’m new to Lake City, moved here a month ago from 90-100 degree weather in Florida 😂 J can’t wait for the snow! I was going to purchase this snowmobile a week ago but dude told me only reason for selling was there hasn’t been enough snow to ride the last two years?! Whaaat?!!! Hahaha So now I’m looking at Can-Am X 3 Like Nicks machine. So it’s great to see I’ll be able to ride trails in the winter too.

DIY enclosures can be a pain but I'm definitely glad we did ours! Paired with a cab heater kit it makes all the difference.

For all you snowmobilers me included I ride both just a piece of info . In the state of Michigan there are approximately 6000 miles of snowmobile only trails No orv or wheeled vehicles allowed. There are 1500 miles of shared or mixed trails . So give it a rest we have plenty of groomed snowmobile only trails. 6000 miles vs 1500 miles. I know some will still cry so carry on but you gotta admit that’s a lot of trails to designate to a sport that’s been in a rapid decline since around 2008 ORVs are now the top revenue generators for all the towns up north. Times they are changing..

Jake for that heater, if you use a tank for like a little propane torch it might fit in your cup holder to avoid that tying it to your roof

I have a cabin near Mancelona Michigan not to far from Starvation lake. I do have a RZR and a sled both. I won't ride the SXS on the snowmobile trails when the snow conditions are good for snowmobiling. Main reason is for safety of the snowmobilers. The trails are not the wide and those sleds are so quick these days if you hit a SXS it won't be a good deal. Snowmobile season in the lower Michigan is so sketchy in the winter anymore I figured it's better just let the snowmobilers use the trails for such a short season. You need to stop by sometime for a cold one. The main trail system is only a up hill powerline away.

Someone should bring the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison/GMC Canyon AT4X AEV, Ford Bronco Raptor or lastly a 2dr Wrangler Rubicon X to see if there’s such a thing as a road legal production vehicle capable of keeping pace with these things!
My guess is that the Ranger Raptor/Bronco Raptor would be able to but you’d have to bring a 12v auxiliary air compressor to refill aired out tires and speaking of tires: if one were to bring a vehicle I mentioned to places like this then they’d have to equip tires for the occasion; no modifications would be necessary except tire compound. Nokian Studded Winter Tire or at LEAST stud-less Nokian dedicated Winter tires for snow like this and even still: utilize the trim-level/optional extra bead lock rims and air down to 12-18 psi at some point and keep that winch at the ready would be necessary. I really do think the ford ranger raptor would be the best option.
I guess one could bring a Defender 90 I6 and the proper tires and aforementioned winch&compressor would definitely be necessary. Those different offroad modes may seem like useless gimmicks in landrovers but when you equip the proper tires and actually go about hardcore offroading properly in one of those then they can get some serious work done

Here in New York I was driving on my jeep on a state land truck trail in the winter that is used by snowmobiles. I can up on the groomer and to say he was pissed would be an under statement. So I called the Department of environmental conservation and they told me I had just as much right to use the road with my jeep as they did with their snowmobiles.

What air pressure you guys running? I live out west and do a fair amount of snow riding in the Sierra Nevada’s and when the snow gets a little deep we air down to a few pounds of pressure. We will go all the way down to 2lbs if it’s really deep. You can almost go anywhere you want. Maybe you guys are but looks like you have a lot of air in those tires. Give it a try.

The shared trail thing is all messed up. I get both sides of it. If they are gonna let both use the trails they need a better system. At least one where the sleds aren't the only ones paying more for groomed trails during the winter months.

I bought one of those heaters and his positioning was wrong for it. It has an emergency off switch and it was tilted way too far. I guess you know that now lol.
If the snowmobile groomer is grooming trails. I’d say it’s time not to be on the trails with a sxs. Still love y’all’s videos anyways.

Please understand that if it wasn't for all the efforts put in by the clubs maintaining the snowmobile trails... you wouldn't have the ORV network. That's a fact. I have snowmobiles, SXS, ATV's and a dirtbike.... so I see all sides to this. Tires wreck trails and it doesn't matter if its 2 or 20 miles. 2000lb rig is 500lbs per tire on a 10" x 10" contact patch where a snowmobile is 500lbs on 4ft x 10ft. Just one loop of grooming is 8-10 volunteer hours by one person.... you did plenty of damage "trying" to drive nice. My SXS or ATV doesn't touch dual use trails in the winter until the clubs announce they stop grooming.... it's just courteous.

I understand where you are coming from, but a shared trail, is a shared trail. Imagine being mad at dirt bikers for making ruts on a shared trail that mountain bikers use..... Same thing. "Shared" unless they are destroying single track trails, there is no issue here
@dirtdudes how about doing a podcast while sitting in a groomer for 10 hours getting the volunteers point of view on the subject before you come up with a solution. I'll line you up a contact to make it happen. Feel it would be a good convo.
