I will never forget when I got a copy of Pilotwings resort (Cart only) from Gamestop. Had dirt, like actual dirt from the ground on it and on the back someone wrote HV in faded sharpie. I put it in and 3/4 of the save slots were used. All but one of them had the guest mii used as the pilot. First save file was some guy with a gibberish name and the signature was a giant lowercase e. Second one was another gibberish name except I think it was numbers and the signature was a Japanese character. Lastly there was one with you guessed it..another gibberish name and the signature was "Bran" and I still wish I knew the story behind it
Used games and consoles used to be crazy affordable, so was stuff like the 2ds and Nintendo selects, like dude, cheap exclusive first parties, that never happens anymore, thanks switch
I fell off of used game hunting a year or so after the switch came out. But in 2022, I got a PSvita, and the scarcity of that console's used game market re-fired some sort of money spending neurons. It reminded me of Gamecube game hunting back in the mid 2010's when gamecube nostalgia was hitting the ground running. You could walk into a used game store and you were lucky to find anything other than a sports game.
This video felt very nastagic! It made me remember what got me into retro game collecting. I watched some TH-camr's game collection video in 2013 and thought "I have a spare room in my apartment, I'm making it into a retro game room!" and bought a n64 with a copy of Pokemon Stadium 2 & Mario 64. And the rest is history.
I got a fully completed Mario 64 DS game card from a game store and I also just love seeing people’s old islands on Tomodachi life to conquer and ruin hehe
Almost every console I have (except my Switch) is used! Most of then I got from older cousins who didn’t want their Xbox 360 or DS lite anymore… Or a friend who doesn’t need it anymore! So I also have an obsession with used video games 😅
Basically this is an addiction story: used game edition I love hearing about it though, I wish some used game store were near my area (instead of multiple retail stores)
My best used video game memory is when I was like 7 I went to some place for my dyslexia and once I graduated from that place my dad took me to GameStop and I got a pre owned Mario galaxy 2 for the Wii I still have it the disc is just scratched
I love that this experience is not my own. The clearance rack was my personal shrine. I would line up games to turn to face the front and they would stay there for days.
I grew up in the 90s and where I'm from, there was no game retailer back in the day. If you wanted to get a video game, you had to get them at a department store. So with the little allowance we earned from my parents, we would often save up for something that would peak our interest. And because we grew up with PC gaming, it narrowed down our options with what to get. It wasn't until I turned 16, when I got my first savings account through a disability pension for having Aspergus, and it was amazing! But rather than just getting whatever game I wanted at the moment, I would start by saving up for creature comforts like a rocking chair and a stereo, before getting my first television, followed by my first video game console: the Playstation 2, along with a copy of Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec. My brother would also get a PS2 a year later, with a copy of the first Ratchet & Clank game.
At least you were smart enough to keep your obsession collection. I hit 21, started partying, sold *everything*(except my GBA, glacier blue, and a few empty GBA game boxes) Didn’t realize the error I made for a few years of going out to bars and getting into shenanigans.. once the party years ended and the grim reality set in… all I can say is ouch. Building back up a collection in today’s market is hellish. But the fact you held onto everything is super cool
Absolutely loved the topic, the stories and the storytelling. I’d really like you to become a better person so I’m subbing and looking forward to the next one!
I'm pretty sure my local GameStop hated me as a kid because I absolutely abused the 7 day pre owned return policy I was in that GameStop at least 2 times a week for like 3 years 😂
I remember years ago, I went to a local thrift store, and I found a used copy of Spyro 3 for the PS1. And it was (I kid you not)…1 dollar. Yeah, One…dollar. Best bargain ever! And, I’ve bought plenty of used games before, but this was the cheapest.
Honestly used games are so great because you save money and it doesn't matter if they're used. Although I wish I bought a used copy of Pokemon Violet instead of buying it brand new at BB for 60 dollars.
I LOVE USED CONSOLES!!! picked up a used ds lite which someone had decorated and was so hyped!!! Totally get the excitement behind picking up used games and consoles!!! 🫶🫶

I love used games because they have other people’s progress, it’s fun to see what people did in their past play through.
My absolute favorite thing about buying used 3ds/DS games
I made a second save on all the used 3DS cartridges I got to preserve to original buyer’s memory.
@@37654 Hey I do that too I actually just did it for a Final Fantasy dawn of souls that I got for gba last week
my copy of phantom hourglass had a complete savefile and some other one where they were almost dead
I found a wii gam that had progress and everything was unlocked.

Used games are what introduced me to Zelda Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hour Glass. Good games.

Try hitting up local game shops if there's any in your area. My particular favourite is Game XChange.

LAIYENZ PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS IVE BEEN WATCHING THE SAME 15 OVER AND OVER AGAIN PLEASE I LOVE YOUR CONTENT
You convinced me to buy my own Nintendo new 2ds xl
Biggest epiphany child me had was realising how cheap used wii u games were
Not really a used game story, but when I was younger seeing a new copy of Skies of Arcadia Legends at Gamestop for $20 was pretty cool.
Xenoblade Chronicles priced at 30$ in case is fucking hilarious
What is your favorite used game memory?
I got a copy of Pokémon Gold at EB Games for like $8 in a bin of older stuff, so probably 2003.
I got the legend of Zelda Twilight princess used of the Wii and it’s still one of my favorite games ever
@NintendLink twilight princess is so good! I hope it gets a port on the switch 2
@@TaroAndreas Oooo that's super cool
