I use Nutron aluminum handbrake lever, very fun to use and lovely soild feel, the only downside is pin goes rusty. Also, looks better than stock imho. Shame they stopped producing carbon one just before I decided to get one.
Awesome info as always AJ✊👌, love listening to the stories from your past experience when explaining and advising on different topics🤘🤘 cheers Edit - currently watching all the Japanese vids on the gen2 on the TV with my phone translating🤣 ……..and true story here, I could speak fluent Japanese 29 yrs ago, I need to brush up, definitely would help me listening to all these Japanese rally drivers putting the gen 2 through their paces!!!
Great info AJ and love the no BS approach again , genuinly never go near the handbrake lol, unless I'm on a hill, that's my skill limit. But like the composite set up and pin, again I'm not sure the idea is new, we used to drill the stock handbrake button on MK1 & 2 escorts back in the day and fit a 5mm roll pin, worked geat for practice as we used a quiet industrial estate on a Sundays , that lead onto a gravel car park, set a couple of cones to drive around and back onto Tarmac.😊 keep the great content going 👍. Regards Russ 🙏
Any ideas on how much slack the handbrake cable gets after a bit of handbrake turns (wet/winter tyres), it seems to lock at click 8-10 😅 kinda have been like that from the beginnen though. Car at 35.000km, how much sis you have to adjust it? Can it already be the disc brakes, and getting endless shoes will help? Thanks in advance for your wisdom 😊
Hello mate, The handbrake shoes actually last quite a long time, but they do need periodic adjustment. You can do that by lifting the center console from behind, you will find the adjuster. Perfect adjustment is lock at 5 clicks, always making sure that the wheels turn freely when released. Endless shoes resist better to the heat in extended use sessions, and may last much longer over time, but aren’t needed to make it work well. I still didn’t have to replace my stock ones at 38k km 😊
very informative video aj ! , I recently installed some aftermarket drums on my gr yaris from a company called fri tech they seem to be well made however I had some problems in fully locking the tyres (running 225 Ar1's semi slicks ) do you recommend tightening the handbrake from the handbrake lines ?
Well, the handbrake should lock at the fifth click: so of it locks later, the case is the cables must be adjusted, always making sure that the drums don’t block the wheels while in resting position
Hi Adriano, think same you, but I have seen a car of scara 73 with a beautiful 4 OEM Callipers in the rear, an a perfect working high handbrake lever next to the steering wheel same in the WRC. Think this Tuner is one of the best. Maybe it was a prototype😅
I know him and he does some beautiful things, but this isn’t one of them. Not only the added weight, but also the throw of that hb lever is pathetic. I don’t know what experience you have on the topic, but I’m certain of what I’m stating
Feel free to comment for more information!

Well, for sure you are miles better than me in Japanese, no question about it, so please let me know if anything interesting comes out of it!
